Question about exploring

Hey all, I'm new to ESOTU on PS4 and just have a quick question. I chose to play as a Khajit in Aldmeri Dominion despite having the any race any alliance pack. I am only a level 12 right now, so I understand I have a long way to go. My question is, am I allowed to explore all the territories and do quests in each (even tho they are different alliance base areas) or am I restricted to the AD areas and Cyrodil for the entirety of my play? Thank you for any answers given.

You are restricted to AD until you get to the Cadwell's Silver and Gold quests. Then you will do the other two factions areas.
I'm not prejudiced; I hate everyone equally !

In a different, phased, Veteran-ranked version however. This would be after you finish the main story quests.

Wait, now I am confused. So I am restricted to AD until I hit VR 1 correct?

Levels 1-50 will be in your own Alliance zones and Coldharbour(area that all do after finishing their Alliance zones)

After completing the main story you get to do both other Alliance areas one makes up Cadwell's Silver, the other Cadwell's Gold.

Also there is Craglorn which is sorta the endgame PVE area :)

The only time you will see players from the other alliances is during PVP in Cyrodiil. :)
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

Essentially. It's not directly tied to you hitting VR1 though, it's tied to you completing the main quest. It's just that you're usually VR1 when you complete the main quest, and the first zone of your next alliance (as you're Aldmeri Dominion your next alliance will be Ebonheart Pact) will be scaled to VR1.

Yeah, it's not exactly V1... its finishing the main story that unlocks cadwells silver. Seen some do it at level 45... others do it at V3... depending on if they raced through the story, or did every sidequest and spent lots of time in PvP land as well...

But generally, your levelling will take you through the starter isle and five maps of your alliance, then coldharbour, then do the next alliance in an V1-V5 version for cadwells silver, then the last alliance in V6-V10 for cadwells gold, then visit craglorn with friends (its balanced for groups). And visit Cyrodil for PvP whenever in between, from level 10 up. The alliance order is DC-AD-EP... meaning an AD character will get pact for silver, and covenant for gold...
Doing it all takes quite a while, but... all the skyshards, all the exploration expees and all the skill points coming with quest rewards... those make it worth it. Even when you are an altaholic and do it on many characters... but hey, more c-points en passant...
