Trait/Ench on diff items

SevenLord
SevenLord
I have seen that ppl saying that diff armor pieces (Chest/Hand/Feet/etc) give more/less stats for trait/ench.. I would like to know which gives you more/less :)
(sorry for the dumb question, but I really didn't find answer for it in google :O)

Chest, helmet, and greaves give the full enchantment value. The other four pieces only give a certain percentage (not sure what it is, but I think it's less than 50%) of the value.

Shield also gives the full amount if you use one.

Note, people tend to run Infused on Legs/Chest/Head and Shield for this reason. Not a hard and fast rule, but until you know Nirn, it's the best one. Infused increases the amount of the Glyph effect.

Then, people tend to use Divines on the other 4 pieces, but, other traits can be helpful too like Reinforced or Training. Depends on how much the Mundus stones help you. Since you can't get to all the Mundus stones until you get to all the zones, you may not be using a Mundus effect that you really care about. So, if that is the case, go Reinforced or Training (best for leveling) or even Well Fitted could be nice.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Some armor pieces give the full amount of the Glyph, some give a fraction as explained above.

The Infused Trait increases the amount of the Glyph. So, just throwing numbers out for explanation

Imaginary Glyph of Magica 100 points of Magic added

Apply it to the Chest, you get 100 points of magic
Apply it to the Shoes you get 40 points of magic
Apply it to a Chest with the Infused Trait you get 120 points of Magic
Apply it to Shoes with the Infused Trait you get 50 points of Magic

Note these numbers in no way represent the real game numbers, just for discussion. Infused is the only trait that increases the amount of a Glyph.

As for learning Traits, absolutely they are worthwhile. Special Crafted Sets can only be made if you know a certain number of traits. Good news is, you only need to know 2 or 3 to make something powerful. Some of the best sets in the game before the VR14 Trials are 6 Trait sets. You want to start doing Trait research immediately, I mean now. Not in 10 minutes, now. It can take months to learn them all. But you don't need to learn them all. You can make good stuff with just a week or two of research.

    Hi
Can you tell what traits each item will have before you research it or will it be pot luck what you get?
What crafting station would I use to research a trait or would any one do ie clothier, bblacksmith etc?
    thanks

Here are some hints to researching Traits.

    1. You only need to know 2 to 3 traits to start making some powerful crafted gear. Most of my VR characters use a 3 Trait set. The amount of time to learn a trait doubles for the second one, doubles again for the third etc. So, learn the two traits on each piece you will want to craft first before learning the third traits. Learn the third before learning the 4th. The best crafted sets in the game only require 6 traits, so don't start chasing the 7th and 8th traits until you know the 6th traits in all the things you want to craft.
    2. Unlock the Research Passive in the line you are researching to allow for more items to be researched in less time, otherwise you will spend years on this.
    3. The most useful traits on armor are Infused, Divines and Impenetrable. Nirn is good, but you need 20,000+ gold to even play on that table (to buy the trait stones). For weapons, Precise and Sharpened are the way to go. Training is good for anything. So concentrate on those traits first and foremost before researching the other ones.
    4. Get the Addon Research Assistant so you don't deconstruct or sell something you need to research.
    5. If you can't get the item you want for research from loot, then buy it in a guild store. Items made to be researched sell between 200 and 500 gold, try to find the cheaper ones. You can even find them less. It does not matter what level the item is, just that it has the traits that you want. Awesome Guild Store addon can help you find specific traited items.
    6. If the item does not have a trait you need, or one your going to soon research, deconstruct it. You get crafting experience to level the craft line and you get trait stones and other things to make stuff with.
    7. Join a Guild like Lone Wolf Help or similar as we run crafting nights where we make traited items for people to research. Even not on the crafting night, we will make something for a guildmate.

When we say 5 Trait Sets or 4 Trait sets, this refers to the number of traits needed to use the Crafting Station that makes them. You can only apply one trait to a piece of gear when crafting it.

Ouch, that will slow down the research. Good thing is now with the Guild Kiosks, it is easy to buy items that are researchable to have a stash to que up. But still, ouch it will be slow.

Then there is the Horse to feed, the Hireling emails to get, writs to do and etc etc. I was explaining the game to my mom earlier today and she said, and I quote, "Am I going to have to log on each day?". That was a yes. Then I tell her some more, and she says, "so it's going to take me 6 months to complete all this stuff" Another yes. She goes, "Good thing Fallout 4 won't be out for a while"

She is 72 just for reference.

yea it is slowing down by alot.. but what can you do ha? I have tried to use google's remote desktop to put on reaserchs but you can't really control the mouse the right way to do it... so It doesn't work.

My mom is 62 and she doens't even know how to turn on my pc xD so to tell her to log on to my game is way too much complicated..

So awesome that your mom, of 72, plays video games. Even more awesome that she know what Fallout is and that 4 is coming out. I can't imagine either of my parents (in their late 60s) playing video games.
