Whoa whoa whoa whoa Waaaaaaiiittt a minute.

The resources handling the consoles is sharing the same space as PC?

I think theres a clue in there somewhere to the problems PC users have been raging about! Doh! Major slippage.

Lots of new PC members have joined the same time as consoles.

Here in Australia everybody finally got there pre-orders for PC. Both Console and PC was released at the same time. copies arrived yesterday or today. Store sales began 2 days a go.

it's amazing, why they could not predict the incoming new players?
they knew they could not handle the old population, they knew perfomance was already weak.
oh, zeni.... i want you to succeed

Sooooo, I spent 3 hours in Cyrodiil in the Blackwater Blade campaign where I participated in fights at keeps/outposts with hundreds of combatants on each side and never once experienced high latency or crashes. Even when the combat was raging I was able to place and use siege and weapon swap always worked.

I gotta say, it was fun playing the game the way it was meant to be played.

i need those pill u use.

Hrm. Not sure what you mean.
Unsubbed and no longer playing, but still checking the Alliance War forum for the lulz.

Last night's multiple campaign crash is an absolutely unacceptable joke.

I cannot believe it just keeps getting worse.

And I'm betting we get more of it. In PvP most players use something called "resource management". Maybe you should explain the concept to ZOS.

So I guess the secret's out now; we are sharing servers with console.

They might have been forced into it because of the way they did the launch. In a pinch they probably said "Ah heck, the PvP guys are already mad as hell at us. What do we have to lose".

^^There's no reason that Zenimax Server shouldn't run better than what we experience. It must have a virus eating at it.

It was never a secret. While the details of the server's construction may not be public, it's pretty easy to make a few solid conclusions about it. The mega server is a clustered environment. Platforms, instances, zones, campaigns are all essentially virtualized environments. While we may not get the details about what took place yesterday evening, however, because it was widespread across pc and consoles it's actually *less* likely that the issue took place on the megaserver itself and likely because of a bottleneck with whatever hardware they utilize for internet connectivity.

At no point was there a true crash, people were disconnected, but the instances never went off and booted everyone (IE Thornblade didn't black out and everyone dropped, only mostly everyone) odds are, whatever is in place to handle the internet traffic choked, latency got high enough to the point that the TTL expired and the megaserver disconnected your session.

I am fairly confident that the cluster of components affectionately called 'The Megaserver' is more than capable of handling 3 to 4 times the amount of information fed to it. At the end of the day, it's little more than a glorified SQL server.
