You do realize there's deaf gamer playing on console?

As a person who had to go through Missing Guardian eight times to puzzle out some of the dialog (for those of you unaware, most of Craglorn doesn't have subtitles for the NPCs' random comments), +1 support.

Zeni, this isn't like system requirements. Your customers can't go out and buy an upgrade for their ears. Presumably you have the script somewhere, because the voice actors needed to read something. Why are you withholding it from the player base like this?

I agree. Why are you doing this Zeni? It's so easy to install subtitles into the game in the setting as options. We can turn it on or off, simple. Even for some people with a hearing aid or cochlear, we can't quite understand D what they're saying. I have cochlear but still legally deaf. I really hate it when game lacks subtitles or and text chat.

You should at least find a better way to actually help us deaf so we can play the game effectively.

I wish I could get my money back. Oh well. I'm not gonna do that, because I love Elder Scrolls.

Skyrim, oblivion, Fallout 3... they have subtitles. Soo... what you doing?

My partner is pregnant so on a night when she is asleep I turn my volume off so I do not wake her so I tend to use subtitles too. I contacted support in game and they sent me this email.

    Greetings,

Thank you for contacting The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited Team.

Unfortunately, at this time you can't enable subtitles in the game. Thank you very much for your feedback! We are genuinely interested in your opinion (good or bad!) and what you think about The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited.

We also encourage you to take part in the discussions taking place on the official Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited forums at forums.elderscrollsonline.com.

Thank you for your continued interest and support!

    Warm Regards,
The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited Team

So basically they know about it but they did not say whether or not they would be adding it. I think it is shocking that this basic feature would not be implemented in the first place.

If the product is not serving the purpose it was advertised to, a refund from the store you purchased the item at may be applicable. Depend on local consumer laws.
Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

I support this too. I was expecting text chat, myself, I don't even have a working headset. But a headset can be bought and some things can't be remedied with money. Zenimax, please, please be a little more considerate of your players with hearing disabilities, speech impediments, social anxiety, or any other number of issues that make forced voice chat a bad idea.

There is still no colorblind mode either. I would like to believe ZOS will finally start noticing players with different conditions, but I'm not holding my breath.

I got a reply from the tech support:

    Hi there,

Thank you for getting back to us. I completely understand where you're coming from! I've already sent the same feedback on internally.

Unfortunately, features aren't decided by us in CS. The best thing you can do is that which you've already done, start a thread on the forums and allow it to gather steam. If it does, it will hopefully catch the attention of the Development Team.

I'm sorry we can't offer more assistance, and I can only apologize for the frustration I'm sure this has caused. I hope you have a nice day, I wish you the best of luck on your adventures in Tamriel, and please don't hesitate to contact us again if there's anything else we can help you with.

    Warmest regards,
    Lloyd

So guys, bring on the steam! We need more steam to capture developer's attention.

If you have twitter or whatever, please spread it across the globe!

That tech support rep sounds really awesome, I'm glad there's feedback coming from the inside too. I know it's console launch and the devs are stretched thin but I really hope they notice this because this is a really big oversight.

I really appreciate all of your support guys. It's greatly appreciated, really. :)

I hope developers come up with a way to help us deaf and all disabilities to be able to play ESO more effectively

I'm not hearing impaired but I was very surprised by the lack of subtitles too. I've also commented in that big text chat thread. The PS4 does have a few accesibility features that might help color-blind users:

I'm sorry, but this is unconscionable in this day and age. What the hell were they THINKING? My next call would be to an attorney.

What's even worse.. every time I try to listen to NPC like Lydia... people voice chat interrupted. I really don't like listening to their voice online. It sounds garbled and warbled, almost like static but with voice.

And other thing, I even try to talk to them and try to communicate, I still can't even understand them. Geez... my hearing aid sucks or is it their mic? I needed lips to read.

I freaking give up. I'm muting the voice chat and solo for now on.
