Are different factions still racially divided?

I read somewhere that if you didn't pre-order, you were stuck with whatever races are in your faction. I pre-ordered, but my friend did not. I hope this isn't the case, because you shouldn't be restricted by race to play with friends. I'm sure this answer is around here somewhere, but I cannot find it.

If you didn't pre-order, then yes, you are locked into the three races per alliance. However, you can purchase the explorer's pack through the crown store that will allow you to play any race in any alliance.

So, basically, those who pre-ordered got the explorer's pack for free, but you can still purchase it separately.

I'm sure the Explorer Pack is available on the console Crown Stores. That is what gives you the "any race, any alliance" bonus.
