24 Hour First Impression Console (PS4)

Nightingale1176
Hey everyone! So I wanted to put a quick "HONEST" first impression of the console release, and gameplay.

To start the midnight release was pretty much a disaster, I gave up around 2am (EST) trying to log on. But that being said, once I woke up around 7:30 am I had no issues logging on. Now fast forward 15 hours later, I got stuck in a queue to play the game. Ok I really hope that is not an every night thing. That will get real old real fast. What makes that even worse is IF you do get disconnected for whatever reason it may take some time to get back into the game.

Now as for actual gameplay, they did a really great job! Making your character is just like you would see from the computer version. Combat took me a few minutes to get use too, but it's getting easier to interrupt, dodge roll, and kind of spell weave...ish. I did finally hit level 10. Now one big downside is the voice chat, i don't use it. I turn off area chat every time it pops back up. I hate hearing KIDS talk like sailors, or hearing someone smacking on food while they play. ZEN help us all when people start getting fussy over their Nirncrux farming. We need text chat, end of story. We can still keep voice for dungeons and groups like a built in TeamSpeak but if i want to Zone for a group in Cyrodiil PLEASE we need text chat for that. Also it does give a way for guilds to market for new players. Speaking of guilds, where are all these end gamer guilds that were on the computer version prepping for release? PRIME SPOT traders in Mournhold and Rawl'kah with nothing or noob 1 person guilds.Good news i did land a Kuta for 700g! xD

Second MAJOR complaint - Skyshards and Lorebooks: we need these addons. I COULD live with the guides for Skyshards on my iPhone but Lorebooks.. makes it painful when you have the same book in 3-5 different locations. It is going to be VERY PAINFUL to get mage guild 10, heck even mage guild 6 to start the final mage guild quest.

Now for a life without ANY champion points, 9 trait crafter, max level enchanter, I feel I am doing really well for having no access to "easier" playing, and to be honest don't really notice not having 230+ Champion Points or blue crafted 6 trait armors with purple enchants on while I am leveling. But I am sure I will feel that when ever endgame comes around if i don't have a decent crafter by then.

Things I hope to see over the next weeks: high end traders coming to sell mats, crafting items for deconstruction, recipes and other things like that. I hope Zen buffs up the console servers so we don't have queues to just play. Also I am not sure if we are getting 60FPS doesn't look as fluid as it other games I've seen hit 60FPS. I also hope the make the names of our characters visable vs PSN/XBL gamertags. Zen had said they did it because of other games use it, but it sounds like a lazy excuse and or reason. I am sure with enough complaints like with the computer version we will see some of these changes happen.

Final note, Would I leave the computer version for Console? NO, as an end-gamer with 4 v14's with all end game gear, a lover of FTC, MasterMerchant, and Wykkyd's addons I'd hate to be an endgamer on Console without any of the addons I normally run with.

this is what i was thinking .. but we become so used to pc addons that actually having to explore for these items is like " huh what do that mean " "i have to find items without a direct location on my map "? im with ya bud but on the other hand its a good thing . im working the mages guild and yeah its going to be a *** .. as it seems some of the lore books are in different areas as well

Sorry, but I think that's awesome. :). Maybe I need to switch to console.

We can live without chat, and without addons...but with alternatives.
And those alternatives are in-game tools, and a API REST.

    - If we have no chat, we need an index of guilds. When someone is looking for a guild, is he supposed to keep asking at voice chat until he comes to someone who can invite him? With some kind of index, we can find guild easier. Some options are MUST, btw: Language (not only the 'official' ones, but Spanish, Italian, Dutch...too), kind (PVE, PVP, Leveling, Trade, Rol...)...
    - And, of course, a working LFG tool: 3 days, more than 6h queued, no find for ANY dungeon at normal as healer? (I'm v10)

    - With some kind of API REST where we can access our PJ info, we can reproduce most of the 'MUST HAVE' addons, like lorebooks, with webapps. This is a recurring pledge at the forums since the beginning; and now, with the console versions, its a NECESSITY.

Personally, I feel like skyshards/lorebook addons straight up take away from the exploration of the game. I understand why we have them on PC (and I love using the addon, lol), but I don't see the dev's adding an "easy" button for console players for skyshards/lorebooks. I remember the PC launch and when I found a skyshard on my own I would instantly start telling everyone in my guild where they were and it felt like I found something really cool and special. What's the point of finding them when they're right on your map. There's no sense of exploration after that. However, I agree with pretty much everything else, though.

I'm doing it the old school way... I printed the maps with all lorebooks and locations and skyshards marked, have those maps in a binder next to me and I put a red X when I discover it in game..... But maybe I have issues I dunno lol...

Agreed.. I cannot understand why text chat was overlooked... Console has 10x more unr8ged kids with mommies credit card, than PC does. Text is vital... :'(

I feel bad for all the people starting to get into research/crafting. I literally made an excel spreadsheet for the people in my guild to use, lol. I think the default way to do it is horrendous and does nothing but cause headaches and confusion.
