NPC backwards movement speed

I would like to tank as a templar and since they lack the CC DK's have I would like to use Deep Slash that hits 3 targets and reduces their movement speed by 60%. This works fine as long as the npc tries to move forward. But I have noticed that if the npc move backwards they are not affected by the slow movement speed and just uses their regular backwards speed. I think this is strange because now the npc moves faster going backwards then forwards while under the debuf.
Is this intended or a oversight? Rangers and casters can be particular nasty because of this. Specially since they have the nagging habit to go stand behind a corner/wall or even disappear into a wall and still hit you.

It's one of many skills an NPC has that you do not. It is most definitely not working as intended.

It's just like their uncanny ability to fire off one or more perfectly placed effects the same time they're flying backwards (not even facing you) from the knockback you just sent their way.

It's one of many little things they have yet to address.
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

IRL'ing for a while for assorted reasons, in forum, and in game.

Where can I find that? Have searched for it but can't find a ability called that.

This one drives me nuts, there really needs to be something in the AI to say "Stop if hitting wall" rather than them zooming around the back of whatever structure there is and away from the fight.

It is bugged, and it's not just snares. If you root them after the game already decides they are going to move backwards, they just jog right along with talons at their feet.

Mob 'backpeddling' is an interesting mechanic on paper, but the way it is implemented is rather poor.

Mobs do not observe snares and roots etc when backpeddling. They also frequently move faster backwards than they do forwards, whether snared or not. And of course they frequently back themselves into illegal spaces (inside walls, cages and other 'furniture' where they cannot be reached).

If this is not working as intended, they need to fix it.

If it is working as intended then they need to rethink their game design strategy. Making the game more 'challenging' via artificial means, such as having mobs not obey the same combat and movement rules players must, is poor game design.

Drives me Insane! I had a mob run clean out of a dungeon the other day through a door, still hitting me. I had to run further into the dungeon to more mobs before he "magically reappeared" so that I could kill him and leave combat..... So dumb.
