Grouping on Console - Will PVP in Cyrodiil fail?

Many of you may think I hate the game but in all honesty, I don't I think it's a great game depending on what you are looking for in an MMO. Combat mechanics, PVE content, story / lore. But the PVP that I want isn't there for me personally, but the game is game is great in other areas. And yes, we have all heard the Arenas / BG's argument countless times, I am not here to ask for that or complain.

But this leads me to my question (which may have already been answered elsewhere), how will grouping for PVP in Cyrodiil work? On PC it's somewhat easier because of how accessible and easy it as an MMO with LFG chat and other features but isn't this going to be somewhat frustrating for console users. If Neverwinter on console did not have PVP arenas to make queuing for PVP a simple process then I don't think I would play it.

A console at its core is built for easy access to it's games, features, menus, plug and play functionality. Sit down, turn on and play and relax. get up take a break and come back when you need to and repeat. Console games are a means for instant action / instant gratification whether after a long day at work or otherwise. And I don't see ESO offering that with their open world Cyrodiil PVP where you have to wait around and find a group before you can go out and have fun. As someone who used to be a primary console player I can tell you that it won't be fun for the majority of people on console. Much like Destiny is a chore where there is no matchmaking and you have to go to a website forum or guild site to find a group and plan a raid then jump on at the specified time and complete that raid. That is a pain.

So how will it work? PC users for those who like the kind of PVP Cyrodiil offers, can get away with it; though for me it's still quite a chore to find and rely on a pre-made group to have fun. On consoles where people insist and need instant action whether playing an FPS, MMO, Sim, Sports or otherwise, how will it work? Considering this is what consoles were built for, what is the plan? I do not get it.

ESO is a good game but many of the choices and decisions made for the game confuse me. Loot at how many other MMOs are dying, losing subs because the PVP aspect most people are looking for isn't there or broken with issues going unfixed and most of the time PVP being neglected for a wide array or PVE content after content after content release without even a glance at PVP. *cough* Warcraft *cough* Wildstar lol...

ESO PVE is great in my opinion (though repetitive dungeon grinding gets tedious) but you get that in every MMO. PVP for me is meh and I find myself just logging on to do the dailies and jumping on Neverwinter or another game for the PVP.

I think the whole world v world thing is just a way of appeasing some people who want PVP without actually offering anything substantial in the way of PVP content updates. Think about it, you can just leave people to their own devices in Cyrodiil. No need to update content with PVP missions, like escort missions or otherwise or update with new PVP maps or other things. Anyway, this whole post has devolved into more Arena and BG crying so I am just going to stop here. But he PVP / combat mechanics in this game are awesome and one of the best I have seen and is built for Arenas. Ok I'm done, lol.

Leave your hate at the door. If you can't take when others have a difference of opinion then you should not be on a forum. Thank you.

Its hard to say whats gonna happen but grouping is gonna be a pain, with chat logs people can invite a name, dont even ha e to reply first.
I guess run around looking for the zergball then spam voice chat and chat bubvles till someone 1 sese you want in, or tellyou their party is full.
Maybe the new lfg tool will help with this? (Dont hold your breath )
They could give each keep a chat channel in voice chat but, not sure how effectice thated be alot of people will be in their systems party chat so they wont hear it.

Just relaying inofrmation gonna be annoying in general in pvp.
Plus the trailer i saw for eso console showed 4 friends attacking gate gaurds in cyrodil. ....really thats the experience you wanna advertise?
Day and night difference from pc launch where we saw 20 troops run up a keep wall loaded with enemy players .....
    Sure thats all just coincidence.

You don't need to group there are people that solo or PUG in Cyrodiil. Like PC if you want to have an effective group you will want to be in an organised PvP guild. LFG groups are very hit and miss imo so not really missing much, but proximity chat is still there so people can still find each other and group if they are at the same fights. Personally like PC I will be in an organised PvP group when in Cyrodiil so not a problem for me.

The bigger problem is the lack of a way to organise as an Alliance. With no type chat you have guild and group organisation but no way to organise between guilds as an Alliance.

They have a planned PvP update if you search Imperial City you should find a few threads about it.

18 characters, 17 max level, at least 1 Stam and 1 Mag of every class, 1 of every race and 1200+ CP

Tanked to Undaunted 9+ Mag and Stam of every class using Group Finder for 90+% of the Vet Dungeon runs

Use the group finder, worked for me just fine getting a pvp group on beta.

I rarely wasted time in PvP trying to group and to find action, like most people (such as OP) are.

So having a quick short burst of action is definitely there in PvP.

YES, you might die more often.

YES, you might get gank and had to horse it back.

YES, it could be 5AM PST and nobody's logged in.

But there's always a solution for it.

I think PvP in console will be just fine.

    Just my 2c of course.

I'll agree that overall alliance cohesiveness will be harder to achieve but, small organized group play should be at an all time high. A lot more people will be going in solo or only with people from there guild or friends list because of the voip chat.

    Less pug zerging= better PvP.

A quick edit: thinking back on all the large alliance fights on PC, the organization it'll take to achieve it on the same scale on console will def make our future battles praise worthy.

I'm really hoping that the console version has a lot less blobbing and zerging XD

I will say from my view the plug and play of console lends itself to not having text chat for this reason. If you had text chat for PVP it would actually have the slight downside that you would have to join this huge group of 20-30 PVP players in order to have fun.

With console PVP there is likely not going to be large groups and instead roving bands of 1-6 players running around making the countryside potentially come much more alive.

Not that I will be in PVP that much but knowing I can jump into Cyrodiil PVP without spending 40 hours planning and trying to group with a guild makes it more exciting for us less hardcore players.

PS - Where is Smurf as he will have a field day with someone saying we don't need text chat, ahaha. If there is an upside to not having text chat this would be it. Forcing the fog of war is a somewhat nice part of PVP on console where zone chat takes that away on PC. By the way I am still a proponent of zone chat for levelling areas unless the grouping queue is streamlined (will find out very soon).

I don't think it has succeeded on the PC. Heavy lag and other issues. Many of the strong leaders left the game long ago because of many well known issues that were not getting attention.

I think what the most important aspect will be lag and latency. If the game will run smoothly the console player will forgive a lot of crap that PC player find annoying .They will however not tolerate lag and latency even remotely as well as PC players.

I think PC player have higher tolerance to it. We are just messed up like that.

ESO: Tamriel Unlimited - "Grouping on Console : Will Cyrodiil PVP fail?" (Fungal Grotto/ Templar)
A console is built for casual gamers who require instant action. If you want a quick gaming session then console is for you. But in ESO, the PVP isn't built for that experience since there are no Arenas or Battlegrounds, therefore no matchmaking. Cyrodiil PVP on console will be more like Destiny PVE where you have to go to a website, find a group and schedule a raid. That does not sound like fun to me and after a long, stressful day, I want to quickly jump into a game and relax. So how will grouping on console work?!

OP I appreciate you opinion. There are some areas of the game that may be lacking or may have a hard time succeeding on console, but your videos are horrible. Your scratch the itch joke was misplaced and was not funny at all. It prompts me to thumbs down all your videos.

I do appreciate your opinion. I highly dislike your YouTube page and your voice, and the way you talk, and overall your opinion, as well.
