[POLL] Do You Think Consoles Will Hurt PC Population?

    Yes
    It already has......

Focus all resources on console launch + no new content for 6 months = population loss

The damage is already done. Can just hope they don't drag their feet on a press release with new content to get people interested again.

I just want to see the number of requests to get transferred back once they play on the console and realize this game is so much better with add-ons.

My opinion is that everything will revolve around text chat (or lack there of) with console. Keep in mind this is an MMO and regardless what franchise it is, or how successful all of the other coop console games are w/o text chat, there are going to be alot of people expecting to play ESO as an MMO. And an MMO w/o any standard form of text chat will turn a lot of people away.

I think that is the main reason the servers are separate.

I think a large % of PC players that switch to console will return to PC because of this.

I think a large % of console players will like the game but will switch to PC because of this. (If they have a PC)

In comparison, I think a small % of both platforms will stick with console because of this.

So in summery, I think the lack of text chat on console will actually boost the population of PC in the long run, while console population will steadily and dramatically decline after it's initial launch spike.

    I'd say so.
Because elder scrolls franchise in itself is massive across multiplatform, it's a well known name.
Look at skyrim combined (360/ps3) it took 86% of the sales on console.

I think alot of people will pick it up, also they are really pushing it on ps store and also alot of adverts for ps4 version on UK TV, aswell as on twitch and ustream.

Saying that though, the lack of features may indeed put people off the mmo - as it's not what alot are expecting.
At the end of the day - consoles sell games, whether people continue to play them or not, the devs make the money anyway, so either way, if console flops the devs will have some more money, lol.

PC players will stay for their own reasons. Console players will begin anew. The tranferees from PC to console are already known in numbers to ESO developers so no biggie. New players will come and go on all platforms as with any other game. The diehards will remain true to whichever platform suits them.

Not in net terms. Some existing PC players will switch to console, but the console launch publicity may well attract some more PC players, and some console players may switch to the PC version subsequently. I think the PC and console player numbers will remain pretty healthy so long as there's regular new content once the console launch has settled down.

    Everyone quit to play console
Which means pretty much no one will be playing this game in a few months, because no one plays a console game for more than a few months.... as soon as the new fancy pants console game released (next halo) or w.e you call it, people will move on.
Thats the nature of console games, you buy it, you play it, you beat it "ish" then you move on to the next game.

The days of games that are fun enough to play for years on end are gone. . . everything nowadays is made to "sell in the moment".

As it stands you have to download *** tons of mods just to "un-console" the pc version, completely unplayable UI that was obviously designed like that just to make Pc to Console conversion easy.

In anycase the primary reason 4 of my friends quit is because there is no open world pvp / reason to grind out a stronger character.
If you cant run around fighting other players, leveling, gathering gear, clearing content, is pretty much pointless/fruitless, care-bear players that want the game to be devoid of all pvp are the vocal minority of the consumer base. . . (you have more players NOT playing the game because there is no pvp than players PLAYING the game because there isnt) but pvp players just tend to abandon the boring game and move on, while care-bears keep their pve game going while spamming forums preventing pvp implementation.

I was actually thinking about just botting the hell out of TERA to get back into that game ... since accounts are free and all . .. dont really have the time to re-invest into another mmo atm.

No, how could it. ZoS already drove away all those from PC by letting the game fall into a state of disrepair while working on console.

If anything it will help some cyrodiil queue times.

Consoles arent the problem here, ZoS inability to fix PC is.

I think it doesnt matter anyway because unless they do a big revamp on there end game system(again) with the champions points wich simply puts a step between casual and hardcore. And we all know that everything is coming more casual (look a lol dota 2 these are alot more casual friendly thats why they so popular pop in play a 45 min game leave thats it...)

So for those reason I think this game will be dead within a year unless they do big changes again.

I am an hardcore player and I dont see any casual mmo player staying here . No casual player wants to grind 14 million worth of xp before doing endgame or not getting 1 shot in pvp.

As of an hardcore pplayer its been 3 month I play this game and in the past 3 week spent more time in forum . Ive grinded to vr 14, grinded 600 k+ ap have a full set gear done every dungeon. Antyhing left to do is endless grinding for best rolled undaunted shoulder or vet CoA endlessly for a better helm drop ( ran coa 30 times before i got my helm WTF!!!!!!! and a damn well fitted heavy when i need infused light hahaha i wanna cry this grinding!!! makes me sick , imagine for a casual player , they will never get that)

Im not even bothering about patching right now and I dont think I am gonna play the game again unless there are drastic changes .( plz put in trash your garbage champ system , its unfair , player hates when they have an disanvatage only because that guy has the time to spend 10h/day 7day/week on this toon to have 1000 + champ point and new comers in pvp and pve cant even think to be competive against them you killed yourself with champs points. LOL

TIL that PC is so uncustomizeable that you can't even hook one up to a TV.

You can treat a PC in literally the same way you would treat a console. Except with a PC you get a much more powerful machine and all of the features of a PC along with it.

Truly casual players aren't even concerned about endgame, and probably aren't much into PvP if at all. I know I'm not alone in having played most days since launch with a full set of characters that I'm still levelling up to 50. My highest is still only 30. I have no interest in PvP and won't be taking any characters beyond 50 until I have completed the whole 1-50 content with a character from each alliance. I'm hoping that by the time I reach that stage there will be other options for progressing, and the chances are there'll also be the option to buy more character slots too. I'll be happily playing for a good while yet!

Populations in certain zones are already at a dismal level. I was in Stonefalls last night and hardly saw any posting in zone chat at all. I ran over the whole map and only came across 3 other players there. With people switching to Console as well, we could loose quite a bit from PC.

Not as much as lag in pvp.

If the PC crowd is still around after all that, a console launch isn'g going to make a dent.

Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.

I expect a very minimal number of players moving over from PC to Console and even then. Most will still have their accounts on PC to come back too.

Whatever population pops up on Consoles for ESO will mostly be players that never played it on PC. Ive currently got around 10+ friends who are Console exclusive that will be getting it while Ive got zero friends on PC moving over.

I think they already "kicked" many fans from the ESO-boat with the last patch, mainly PvP'ers, as (on EU) it is just the same crowd playing every day pvp, while there is no constant supply of new people in Cyrondil. Those are important for a genuine (inpredictable) and growing (!!!) pvp-community, which in ESO is hard to find. Words as a "shrinking" game suit ESO much better.

Second, it's never good to split a gaming community into 3 servers, 3 different gaming systems, which is exactly what the console launch is doing. I'd even say the people in numbers switching over from PC are more or not-less than "really new" players to the game.

Third, the game is handicapped in it's usability, understandability, etc.. (to mention just one) The 5+1-button design is a major step-back in computer games (and only and mainly done because of gamepad-design, nothing else), no matter how many fanboys here try to defend the 5+1 button bar as a "new fantastic & limited approach" to mmorpg), without any reason to argue: it's a step-back for every "real" computer gamer (non console player/owner). Also the usage of the "TAB"-button sucks, as you can not log-off and ALT+TAB at the same time (and many more things, too many to be mentioned here)

Fourth, even more players will play ESO as a 1-player game on consoles. This is just my personal opinion. Sure, there'll be groups of friends, or even guilds, but the whole "communication thing" and many social aspects of the game will play a lesser role on consoles.

Fifth: BUGs everywhere, pretty much unchanged since release. I just mention one: DOORS THAT DON'T WORK. Much blabla from ZOS "we'll fix this" but nothing was done, and I mean really nothing, as the problem remains unchanged. This game is a little bit like those more "graphics candy" games but the reaction time for actions like "open door" or "swap weapon", either do not function at all, or they are deeply effected by lags, cooldowns, and the like. And this is part of the "deep game design", as it seems, as nobody really managed to remove this bugs after over a year!! It seems to me, that ESO wasn't properly tested on many hardware-setups, so that many PCs (even high-cost gaming PCs) can't handle the crappy coding (if the bug lies there).

This poll needed more options. The only thing that has hurt the pc player base is ZOS and the way they have handled the game, updates, and so forth. It was a conscious decision to send pc to back of the bus so to speak betting all the money (and promised content) on console players.

That said, I expect the launch to go decently enough and make them some money initially....but unless ZOS has figured out how retaining players long term in an MMO works *I* expect the same high drop off rate and "one and done" even more so on console than pc. Who are we kidding, players were bored before Craglorn hit.

Since then, decent xp gain has been nerfed into the ground with the exception of the grinding race (race being find it and get it before ZOS figures it out). Champion system was introduced.... but again unless grinding, in such a slow and painful way its not worth playing past enlightenment for the average player.

What is there to log in for every day??? That is what ESO lacks (imo). Crafting writs? Not with the crappy RNG system of rewards. Awesome dungeons that give you the gear necessary to move on to the next one? Nope, the gear sucks, no content requires special gear to do...and again crappy RNG. We can keep going...

TLDR: Nothing hurts this game more than ZOS. They need to figure out how to "retain" players instead of just attracting them on the coattails of the TES line.
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

Lack of attention will hurt the PC version. Other PC games will also hurt the PC population.

So many PC players are conservative, they dont want play MMO's on console. They want their gaming rig and all the stuff that comes with it.

I'm sure there's console players running around in Tamriel, checking it out now and again, waiting for their version to come out. But I dont think we'll notice their departure that awfully much.
