Bound (Gear) Issues

Hi all,

I think there are a few issues with items being bound that kind of take me out of the experience and immersion. For example, when I can't try on a piece of gear and then give it to my friend.

I understand why these bound rules are put in place, but I honestly think ESO could dispense with the lot of them.

I don't see what bound item restrictions add other than annoyances, and if the issue is balance, well, hell, these restrictions are doing nothing for it. People are still crafting and selling sets, etc. There are 1000 exploits being, uh, exploited, and then there are these bound item restrictions that really only punish new players who don't expect something to get bound, and roleplayers (who want to try on armor and then pass it on to their friend when they don't like how it looks).

EQ should be self regulating, just like other things that exist in the global economy in the game. It's already level-locked.

or they could make it so you could pay to unbind your armor for a cost, they could have a special armor merchant that you pay to do this around the 10k per item or something like that or a expensive scroll that would unbind it for you.
    Meh!

I think it is for the player economy side of things so that crafters can still make money on crafting and so that people aren't passing along raid quality dropped gear to other players who did not earn it and so on.

It might change I think. BoP was just emergency endgame fix like Veteran Ranks. They had to give people something to do.

I would think the bound aspect for unusual gear, whether quest rewarded or dropped in exceptional places (DSA/Trials/Dungeons) would tie in perfectly to the immersion aspect.

If something was explicitly granted to a particular character by a Divine or some other character of importance, what makes you think it would so easily pass on to another individual? This holds true for resale, even for Alt's, if you want to get down to brass tacks.

If you Alt wanted to be able to mimic the look of an item (to an extent), that's one thing, but to be handed down the benefits of said gear, is a whole other story.

You can hardly defend immersion when armor is repairable an infinite number of times, with the overall repair cost never increasing and weapons never wearing at all.

Binding is one of the least lore/immersion breaking things in this game.
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

binds save new players, don't punish them. If a new player would try to craft and sell on full market, he'd pay for material much more, than items would cost from old players, that alerady do not need them.

I'd prefer giving each player their own bank, which isn't magically shared with alts who don't know each other, and then having in game channels of realism to give/trade items.

It is in place so people don't abuse the system like selling set Monster Items by farming them and bloating the market. There is already tons of gear that isn't bound you can already sell and like someone mentioned earlier it is also a measure to help crafters make a wage.

Bind on acquire should never exist, bind on equip would be fine with a preview option so if you don't like the way it looks you can sell it.
