First time through other two Alliance Areas: Caldwell's Silver & Gold or with Alts?

The first time you go through the other two Alliance Areas and want to experience them while they are fresh to you, is it more enjoyable to just continue with your main, or run Alts through them so you can enjoy them at level 1-50, find books, get into the story, etc.
I did the latter, using alts.
Just wondering what others thought.

I'm really of the opinion that accounts should be faction-locked, so it shouldn't be an option to do them with alts in that case.

I opted for alts so I could enjoy the story in a way that was immersive and made sense. When I reached vet ranks with my main, I rushed through the main faction storylines, gathered skyshards and that was it. It's impossible to truly immerse yourself in the game playing characters loyal to their factions. EP is particularly bad in this respect: DC characters could never complete Stonefalls, AD Shadowfen.

I did it on my main as well as doing it currently for alts.

I had no issue with the immersion/faction loyalty thing because even before you reach Molag Bal you are already reaching across the factions to find allies and as 'The Vestige' you apparently have no knowledge of who you were anyway so who knows where you started out... ultimately I choose to take the, admittedly weak, continuity handwave from Cadwell at face value and simply enjoy the quests for what they are... I did everything I could find all shards, quests, delves and areas.

In PvP however I am fiercely single faction even though I chose that faction totally on a whim when I built my first character :)

☆ The Reason To Me Leaving (So Soon After Launch)

Been forced to play through the enemy territories made me and my mates slowly give up on the game like 2 months after launch. I am only back to give it a second chance thanks to the transfer and i am of the opinion of no veteran levels and 50 been the max level. So as in wow if i want to experience the other sides its done through alts and i enjoy it plus dlcs are done in large and do things like increasing the level cap by 5 or 10 depending on the new area and NO FORCED GROUPING LIKE CRAGLORN THE WORST ZONE.

And i remember them saying "play as you want" as a big seller to draw in the skyrim crowd then the first major dlc was like.

HAHA WE GOT YA! YOU WILL PLAY THE WAY WE WANT YOU TO!.

My 2 cents anyway as i was not impressed :(

I speed levelled (well, my version of that) two alts originally. I wanted a VR in each faction, but I preferred to be more immersed with my main.. so essentially I skipped through dialogue and played mindlessly as I could with the alts, so I could relax and take my time with my main :) Works pretty good, I remember tidbits of the main stories, but it feels really new to me on my main

Having experienced each faction both ways, my opinion is if you want to be more immersed in the story lines and don't care about rushing to max level on your main, alts are by far the best way to experience the other factions. However, if you choose that path you lose out on CP gain by playing non-vets. So the best choice depends on what an individual's goal is - immersion in the character's chosen faction or reaching and becoming competitive in end game content faster.

Personally, I enjoy the zones more at Vet level.

When I'm running alts, though, part of the fun is the character development.

Part of me wishes you could create Silver and Gold character appearances - much like the flashback scenes that give you an appearance change more fitting to the circumstances.

What would be really awesome is if Gold rewarded you with a Final Form option - you could keep your Silver or Gold appearance but keep your original passives. Once you do Silver and Gold, you can have an Altmer with Redguard skills or an Argonian with Imperial skills.

No more profiling people based on race. How deliciously... progressive...

And maybe a catchy title, like Soul Meld Survivor.

This would make both Silver/Gold and creating alts more interesting.

More like best idea ever. ZoS originally designed the game to be faction locked but back in early beta all the "WoW-babies" whine so much that they bent. I honesty wonder sometimes if thats not why we ended up with the crappy VR system that will thankfully be removed.

Faction locks made DAOC a great game...people had pride in there faction.

This isn't DAOC, this is Elder Scrolls and your "WoW babies" brought this game closer to its Elder Scrolls roots, for which I am grateful. Ideally, the three factions shouldn't be separated in group PvE at all. We got VR areas because (i) there was no endgame and (ii) people wanted to see all of Tamriel with one character. As a result, faction pride was all but destroyed - which could have been avoided if the game wasn't designed around the faction war in the first place. It is do damn hard to reconcile ZOS's vision of new RvRvR with the series tradition of player freedom and it shows on every step, from PvP to guilds to lore.

Thats exactly how i feel about this games PvE.

You cannot possibly play the way you want. You find a cookie cutter build and use it. otherwise you're useless to your group.
PvP on the other hand you can use what you want if you can be effective with it and enjoy using it. You dont have to be a wrecking blow spamming tool if you dont want to be.

I have a main in each of the Alliances and have played through the content both Leveling and VR. Well, I have 3 that have started the Gold Zones so they still have that to do.

I found the L1 to L50 content to be almost too easy. However, that is good as it gets people into the game, so that's OK. I think game learning curves should be shallow in the beginning where the game mechanics form more of the complexity than how to play the game.

I find the VR Instances of the zones offer more of a combat challenge than the leveling zones do. To that end, I enjoy the VR content more than Leveling. As for repeating the content, because I have always repeated content with TES games because I create lots of different characters with lots of different builds in the SPG games. The Builds and approaches used from those builds makes the content different enough for me.

So, I have enjoyed both Leveling and VR Instances, but for different reasons.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I don't know. I'm always finding people who run the same class/role I do that go about it in a different way and are just as effective.

Personally, if you have some basic understanding of how fights work, I don't care how you accomplish your goal. If you are a healer and you are keeping me alive when I'm DPSing, it doesn't matter to me what rotation you are using. If you are a DPS, as long as you have single target and AoE options you can use if the fight requires it, use whatever rotation works for you.

This arguement never made sense to me. If you want to play the other factions quests...then make an alt. This is normal and makes more sense. My Horde character never got to do alliance quests. I'm sorry but Calwells silver/gold feel really weird to me lore wise. Almost like a band aid fix.

I do them on my main the first time around. I quite like being able to help out the other factions, I've never seen my character as faction-loyal, but loyal to Tamriel as a whole, to any race, to any area. So it's nice to help out anywhere and not just in one faction's territory and leaving the rest to rot.

I considered the Pact always being my "home", so it really feels odd to start a character in a different alliance.
Besides of my 7 Pact characters, I do have 1 DC character, in order to play the Pact zones in "hard mode" (Gold) when she finally gets there.

I complete ALL zones with all characters. Although I'm for the Pact, I do want to see everything possible from Tamriel.

It does feel wrong when I have to kill "my own people" during quests in the other alliances' zones, but in that moment I just need to realize that it's just a game and I want to see everything. Why should I leave them out, especially as a huge Elder Scrolls fan which I am for so many years? All zones are too nicely done to just skip them.

One would wonder why I want to see all zones with every single character, over and over again.. Well, I have characters of all 4 classes, and everytime I do it again, I learn something new, like using skills/combinations more efficient, or I notice things I haven't seen with my previous characters. Or I make a different decision in quests to see the outcome (depends).
I also have the choice of doing certain quests or not since I know what's coming; there are a few which I refuse to do now after I've done them before and regret it.

My goal: having seen it all with each character (as far as it's possible as a single player), playing every class as good as I can, and just enjoy the trip :) Though, new zones are overdue, but this is a different topic.

I'd say play it the way you want; no one can tell you to do the other alliances zones with your main or alts, it's your choice :)
