I Was told there would be a PVE in Cyrodil....

So i have decided to get some skill points and to do some solo dungeons in cyrodil,
I hop on my horse and i start to ride.
nothing.
endless nothing with a wall at one side and mountains that i cant pass on the other side.
and more nothing.
I go back and try another way.
another half an hour of riding to nowhere and i finally see people :) couple of guys walking.

before i manage to say "OH HAI GUZY... WUD U BI SOW KAIND 2 POINT MI TU NERUST DUNJUN"...
before i manage to press enter to chat...
before i even realize what happening...

bam...
split of a second....

<img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/5020507/uploads/FileUpload/5e/7831c9465d5c4552fb16bff5836538.png" />

this is a wrong way to introduce new players to PVP.
I have nothing against dying or losing in PVP, i am used to it, but this is an extreme.
this is beyond L2P.
yes i know, i don't wear nirnhorned v14 set, i know i am not magica DK with whip but stamina DK with PVE tanking set of skills.
but I wear full plate armor 7/7 , i have almost 40% physical and almost 50% spell resistance.
I should be able to stay alive for like five seconds before i die, i should be able to scratch them or retaliate at least once.

I used to have fun in GW2 WvW, i don't have fun here.

P.S
i didn't rage quit, i tried another four or five times to engage in PVP fights, all my tries lead to the same result.
even if i just stand and block with shield, i don't survive longer.
I am not sure new players will want to PVP in such state of the game.

@MyNegation is totally right, Cyrodiil is entirely hostile to new players trying to get into PVP due to the craptastically bad level scaling the game does, as he observes unless you're decked out in BiS gear largely from raiding you have no hope, AT ALL.

Go with groups, have an addon map so you have some ideas about destinations, and just expect that anyone you meet will 1-be way over your level and 2-try to kill you.

Then if you meet someone nice, it's a pleasant surprise.

Keep an eye on your map as well, see if keeps are being flipped near you, as there will be hostile elements in the area if so.

    Go in a group.

Solo PvE to me is rather easy, but I am a experienced PvPer as well so it may have something to do with it.

Just keep your eyes open, and be aware of your terrain, as like it or not, you are in a war zone and you will in most cases be lit up by anyone you see.

You were attacked simultaneously by three different enemy players while you were unaware of what was going on, but you expect that because you wear Heavy Armour the virtue of that alone should keep you alive when you are not even making defensive actions to begin with?

Cyrodiil does have issues with TTK, but not sure your scenario is an very good example of such. You were outnumbered 3 to 1, as well as caught off guard -- it makes sense that you were an easy kill before even factoring potential Armour or Spell Penetration values your opponents probably had.

I've been farming shards in Cyrodil for a few hours a day for several days now.

I'm VR2, have nothing special in the way of gear, I know nothing about PvP in this game, and head off solo in a random direction until I find a few shards / lore books.

Cyrodil is sooooooooooo unnecessarily big and so empty that in about 12 hours there I have been killed by another player once, and that was when I wandered too close to another faction's stronghold. In fact the first time I headed there I didn't even see another player for the best part of two hours.

I can see why Cyrodil is so big - I assume it was because they were expecting huge AvA wars to be raging right across it. But that isn't happening anymore, is it?

Can confirm lone inexperienced players get brutally murdered in Cyrodiil nearly every time. Organized small scale PvP might be a better way to ease people into the new game mode. But why on Nirn did you walk up to enemy players to attempt to chat with them? Who does that in a PvP zone? You weren't just weaker, you served yourself on a silver platter. Next time ride away as fast as your horse can take you, or sneak away. Also get the Skyshards add-on.

I have completed all PvE objectives in Cyrodiil except two delves that stubbornly refuse to spawn the boss I need and I'm still just a Recruit in weak PvE gear, so it certainly is possible.

How come I can run around cyrodill, do all dolmens solo and all dungeons and get all skyshards do all PvE quests without problems?

Yes it was a while back. But even now I sometimes do quests and do some dungeons/dolmens and I hardly get any encounter with enemy players. Sometimes you die of them, but it is not like you get jumped on constantly.

Even when I entered cyrodill for the first time (at lvl 15) I did not have these problems. But then everybody was around lvl 15-20. People formed groups, low levels did mainly defending (since all get fire ballista to enemies).

My experience with cyrodill was awesome. Better then PvE dungeons back then (eeew your a stamina NB using bow, we don't want you here eeew)

well, the best thing woulda been to test out pvp in a non vet campaign... but since ur already v7 that wont work anymore.. but I think that's a good place to start for beginners... your main problem really is being v7... honestly any none v14 is a pretty easy kill for me... some small exceptions of v10+ experienced players which can sometimes put up a fight... but pretty much my first thought when seeing a none v14 in a group or alone is free kill... and its normal to clear the weaker targets out of the way first...

if you travel to cyrodiil at your level then you should join a bigger grp.. just type lfg in zone chat and someone will invite if theres a grp going... or have someone show you around... maybe someone from your guild...

You certainly can complete every single PVE quest in Cyrodiil solo (with delve quests), without being V14. I did it by V5 solo on one character in a regular campaign full of veterans and I'm not even that good.

    Tips to get started:
    1. Get one of the destination add ons that show you the towns where you should be going to quest. As mentioned before skyshard add on shows you delves also.
    2. Wait to quest in an area until your faction is controlling it and make sure there are no raging battles showing on the map nearby. Then fast travel to a nearby keep and ride to the town from there.
    3. Quest in off peak hours whenever possible. You're less likely to run into anyone.
    4. Sneak around the quest towns to scout out whether enemy combatants are nearby before taking or turning in quests.
    5. For the sake of all things holy do not run up to groups of enemy players unless you want to fight!

You will still die sometimes, but that's to be expected when you are PVE-ing in the PVP zone. Good luck!

    Edited for typos (sigh)

Where is the LOL button when you need one!

You go to Cyrodiil expecting to have a peaceful PvE? What game are you coming from?
You are going into a WAR zone - meaning you can gank or be ganked at any given time - PvE is just a side-show when you are bored or have completed normal PvE zones - it is not the focus of it, what just happened to you is. Even new players with half a brain understand that, it's not rocket science. That is the whole thrill of it. I have done my fair share of ganking people like you numerous times, it's just a delicious addition next to the nice XP and Loot i get in the Delves.

There is a reason why Cyrodiil delves give nice amount of XP and one of the best items in-game. You have the added danger of being ganked by other players, which adds difficulty no other PvE zone will provide.

Be good - survive - dominate - bask in rewards! That's all I can say...

You're not suppose to ride in Cyrodiil. You're suppose to cross an entire province in sneak. That's only like 90-120 minutes of your life. Everyone has time for that. Naturally something you want to do when you finally have a a free evening for online games :dizzy:

I do my Cyrodiil questing and skyshard collecting first thing in the morning (being retired, I can do that!), when there's no one around. I usually stay there until it starts to fill up and I get ganked.

I have absolutely nil interest in PvP, so at that point, it's back to the rest of Tamriel for the day! Being ganked doesn't bother me - after all, I'm in PvP territory, but it does tell me my freedom in Cyrodiil is over for that day!

My main has had a nice smattering of skill points from his early morning forays!

Here is a map for your perusal. Everything in white is a PvE location, everything in blue/yellow/red is a PvP location. Being an open-world warzone, enemy players will be everywhere, but they do tend to congregate more around the PvP locations. You are however likely to find enemy players at some Delves and Dolmens, moreso than other PvE locations, because they give PvP rewards. You are also likely to find some enemies at the quest hubs (Bruma, Chorrol, Cropsford, Vlastarus, Cheydinhal) because they like to gank questing players.

Note that the colours on the linked map are in the default states, and your in-game map will likely be different. You are most likely to be safest nearer to the keeps your alliance controls, whichever they may be.

Nope it`s not every since the Awesome lighting patch of 1.3 their game can`t handle large numbers.

They first denied there was lag for a month , then finally admitted there was lag and blamed it on the Deer and Torchbugs and removed them from Cryodill.

Then they removed AOE caps in a effort to get people to spread out and even lowered the population caps for Cryodill in an effort to get to a number that the servers could handle.

It still doesn`t work because one is their entire game is based around AOE spamming unlike most games that are target based limited AOE. Another reason is the server doesn`t appear to be that good. and can`t handle more than 40 people in the same area.

I don`t see it getting any better really, from Launch April 2014 until Dec 2014 all the Sub money mostly went into setting up the Cash store and preparing for Consel launch.

Now that we are free to play, most of the money doesn`t come from subs but from cash store sales, if no one buys anything they do not get paid.

So it would make sense that most of the content will be directed at creating that next Awesome new item to sell in the cash store so they can get paid and make that house/ car payment.

Maybe after the cash grab that is consel release they will start working on some Down loaded content to sell us.

I'll give you a few tips to make your ease into pvp, and accomplishing the pvp business in cyrodiil.

    1) Team with a couple of friends. This makes it easier to deal with some delve bosses, and will help you support each other in a fight.
    2) Bring Filled Grand Soul Gems - so you can rez each other.
    3) Don't get too upset if you die. If you're on a campaign owned by an enemy faction, you have to accept the fact that they will outnumber you if you are far from home. Death happens.
    4) Be aware of your surroundings. Look for the enemy.
    5) Sneak.
