Just thought i'd post a "hello" for my fellow forum goers out there :p

Decided to give this game a shot about a week ago and bought the imperial edition. Loving every minute of it right now.

I was a huge skyrim fanatic for quite awhile and, while this isn't really skyrim 2.0 MMO style, it most certainly has an Elder Scrolls "feel" to it that is making me all sorts of happy playing it. Trying out both a templar and a sorc right now and honestly having the most fun on a heavy armor, 2h wielding sorc (of all things) as i level.

Anyway, if anyone has any general newbie tips i'll happily take any advice. Other than that i play a lot of MMOs so i can get the basics fairly easily :)

See you all in Tamriel =D

I would say wear at least one piece of each type of armor (light, medium, heavy) at first. That way you can build up each at least a little should you change your mind about your armor type. I started out wearing 5 heavy, 1 medium, and 1 light. Now I have lvl 50 in each.

Once you get used to the differences between ESO and Skyrim, you will enjoy it. There is a boatload of content in ESO. I've been playing since the beginning, albeit with some breaks, and I still haven't gotten to everything.

    Have fun!

didn't think of that. Easy enough :)

    tyvm :)

I like the perks on medium a bit more than heavy honestly, but my favorite crafting profession in ES games has always been smithing and i love the looks of most heavy armors so i decided to give it a shot. Love that its actually a viable option for leveling/building lmao.

But i'm dabbling in most crafting profs right now (just not sinking points into anything but smithing yet) so its not to hard to whip up a decent piece for a slot or two ;)

    cheers :)

    Hello and welcome :)

Here's a forum section with a New Player sticky and a good place to ask questions forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/categories/players-helping-players
Granted, the sticky is a little outdated now but you won't have to worry abut the Champion System for awhile.

If you plan on doing any crafting, get started on Research and Writs asap, it can take awhile.

If you want/need addons, here is the place to go esoui.com/addons.php

Get out there and have fun!

Hello and welcome to the game! Here's a few pointers that will help you out.

1- Crafting items. Get an Addon called ResearchBuddy2 and always make sure you are researching items when you get them. You always want to have a research going to maximize the items you can make. Research all items with a trait showing on it. You can put them in the bank and research later.

2- Pick up EVERYTHING. You can make really good gold in the game selling unrefined resources. Also join a Trade Guild so you can sell these items there. The more items you sell in the store, the less posting you will need to do in Zone for WTS(Want To Sell) things and can spend time questing. Master Merchant is an Addon that makes searching for items in the Guild Store a lot easier.

3- Upgrade your backpack/bank slots any chance you can get. The more items you can carry, the less time you have to spend going back to town.

4- Take a look at all of the Addons available at ESOUI.com. You won't need them all, but there are some really good ones out there to make things a little easier.

5- Enjoy all the detailed graphics that the game has!

    Hi skyfiredraco!

I'm doing lots of characters, and have found that I have the most fun when I just take it easy and explore. I never played skyrim (watched many hours of it over my sweeties shoulder), but did play Morrowind.

I'd second (or third ... maybe fourth) the advice about starting bits with crafting now. When you get "back to town" before you sell anything, see if there is a trait you can research. It will add up over time, and allow you access (eventually) to the fancy crafting stations (you will have to know increasing numbers of traits per piece to craft any given piece).

    What's most interesting so far?

Oh... and what server are you on?
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Welcome! Hope you continue to enjoy it as much as I do! Been playing since last April now! Feel free to ask question, many friendly folk around here. As well, joining a guild could be a great idea as you'll have fellow players to help you while you're in game :) And of course, you'll be able to pass your knowledge on to other new players once you've soaked it all in ;)

So many responses so quick lol :)

    Ok, addressing a few :)

Addons: i have Curse Client so i already have a few of those. Got a mini map and a combat text addon. Also an updated exp bar. Haven't gotten anything more extensive yet, but its always a fun option to play with :)

I'll look into joining a trading guild. Been looking for a place to offload supplies (i hoard pretty much EVERYTHING but i don't do a lot of alchemy or provisioning, for example, so i have lots of stuff that i might be able to sell).

I bought the imperial edition so i already have a horse. Been finding/crafting my gear so i've been sinking what little gold i've been making into backpack upgrades and mount training already (for more inventory space... see: hoarder, above lmao).

honestly not sure what server i'm on lol... feels like an MMO newb question but how do i even check that? :P

and yea, i'll get on research asap. haven't messed with that yet but it sound important (and fun... i like my crafting lol).

    cheers guys :)

You get most of the looks of heavy from just the cuirass alone, so make that your one piece of heavy, then mix up medium and light on the rest of the slots.

The great thing about ESO after playing Skyrim is always having other people around willing to help you. If you find a hard boss fight too much for one, just ask in zone chat and knights in shining armour will answer the call

ESO doesn't have a bunch of servers like other MMO's. You are either on North American server, or European. Whatever you chose when you installed it.

As well, curse is a curse for ESO. Most of the add-on's there are old and outdated, all current ESO Addon authors keep their updated add-ons on ESOui.com If you prefer a client to help with updating, the Minion client is available

As a sorc and templar you'd better put 5 pieces of light armor and level skills in Light Armor tree.

Welcome! @skyfiredraco. My advice would to not do the group dungeons while adventuring.... go back after got finish the main story. I outleveled every zone, and I pretty much skipped one entire zone! Try not to feel compelled to kill EVERY mob you come across.

    Good luck in Tamriel!
