ZOS should just offer the console copy to everyone for...

ONE HUNDRED BILLION DOLLARS
drevil_cover.jpg

But seriously... if technically feasible, ZOS really should try to figure out a way to allow more players to transfer their characters from server to server. This should be a transfer, not a copy.

No whining. No sob story. Just a service that a company should provide to it's customers.

Now, keep in mind, there may be technical or contractual limitations as to why players aren't going to be allowed to do this. Perhaps it has something to do with Sony or Microsoft's side of the equation. Perhaps it has something to do with exploits that could occur from a player moving from one system to another.

In the end. ZOS knows many players want this. They know that it would make them money. If feasible, they will offer it at some point... I just wouldn't hold my breath that this will happen for the initial console release.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.

I know you mean well and this isn't really directly at you at all but instead directed at the topic and those affected.

We all miss opportunities and even make investments in good things but later make decisions that later prove that the investments were only good if good decisions continued.

To all of us who blindly hoped to take advantage of the offer, the deadline wasn't the June 2014 date but rather to enter this "offer" the sign-up date was June 2014. At the time we have no details other than a $20 offer at a later date.

The emails that went to everyone and all the posts and questions over the last year specific to this offer really were concerning. We all should have learned in May of 2014 that Zenimax was and is not great at offering any finite details of any of their offers beforehand. We often find out details during promotions and hear stories from others after offers expire.

All this to say, there isn't any excuse that justifies making any exceptions to the companies posted states around any offers.
I've too missed out on offers from this company and learned that the only way to stay on top of things is to make special efforts to do so.

I realize many won't, or don't have interest in doing so and therefore I took it upon myself as many, many others have to spread the info as best I can in many places where others can find it.

But even still people miss out. In the end, there is nothing anyone can do to ensure that everyone gets the offers they may be interested in. For those who decide to leave the game due to this....take care but to those who will fight tooth and nail to get the offer reinstated, best wishes and lastly to those who say oh well and keep playing, maybe we will meet in the world of Tamriel be it friend or foe.

Best wishes to everyone....this isn't the first nor the last lash out towards ZOS on changes and offers.

Oh... I got my copy @NewBlacksmurf. I'm all set. See you on the PS4!

I actually don't think exceptions should be made for the console copy. Rather, I think a different offer, one of a straight transfer, should be sold. But then there is ALL sorts of issues that may arise. Like...

If a Clouded Senche Leopard is offered and a player buys a Clouded Senche Leopard on PC and then transfers that Senche Leopard with their character to the PS4 is Sony owed any money for that content being available on that console? What about the actual money for the transfer? Does Sony and MS get paid for transfers TO their console or FROM their console... or both? What about Transfers from PS4 to Xbox One? How will those work? Does ZOS, MS and Sony share that money? Same issue with the Clouded Senche Leopard... if a player buys it on PS4 then goes to Xbox One, how is it fair to MS that the player now has that content on the Xbox One but Sony got the money for it?

This offer is a one-time deal with timelines and deadlines likely set up by Sony and MS. They probably needed to know how much data they were going to need to receive from ZOS by a certain point and they are making special accommodations for console transfer to fluff up the numbers on console a bit on launch day and so players don't just see a bunch of burlap sack wearing soul shriven.

Seeing those PC players running around on their fancy mounts and such will be really good advertisement for the Crown Store, too.

I reached a similar conclusion when I was asking that ZOS allow purchased content be shared across platforms. I thought it was unreasonable to ask people who are playing ESO on PC and Console to pay for the content twice... but when you consider the PSN and Xbox live ecosystems, the reasons behind the separations become a bit clearer.

    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/147729/edited-theres-a-reason-zos-wont-let-assets-be-shared-over-platforms

ZOS knows players want it. They know it will make money. That's why I 100% honestly believe that if there is a way to offer this, they will

Yep Inagree with you but I honestly would rather a buy xyz exp pot and buy xyz research speed up pots or buy mount pots be in the crown store.

I don't have any issues with offers but I do have a HUGE personally issue with devaluing an offer cause some ppl missed out.
That's my issue to deal with tho.

Regarding Microsoft and Sony offering transfers, there is absolutely no value to them offering any such offers monetarily.
I was VERY surprised to see what was offered so I purchased it as soon as I saw it just in case. Expensive offer but VERY generous considering the console looses $40 up front and then looses all the revenue of items earned and purchased from ZOS directly.

People don't realize what they're asking for when they say open the offer back up. Anyways, you won't see me on PS4 but I'll be on Xbox One.

Enjoy and good luck to all others.

Who knows, we still may have a third hoop with another deadline to jump through in order to get the copy

Yeah...I missed one but not #2 and #3 which definitely devalues the original even if it's only cosmetic.
You'd assume the original would've come with max stats and 30 extra bag space.

I am so angry I missed the transfer to console opportunity.

Angry at myself for not knowing/finding out about it but also more angry at zos for not making it clearer because compared to how they inform us about all there other news/crown store offers they didn't

Can't believe all my loyalty rewards and purchases are essentially gone as far as my console account goes, I'll never get to enjoy them again : (

You mean like to permanently move one character to another platform?

The issue is the saves are account based by NA or EU rather than per character based (when transferring) or at least that is how ZOS conveys this.

They won't even allow transfers on pc from NA to eu or vice versa. Maybe if the server and file types are one day purged and redone this will be possible.

Or maybe I read their comments wrong

I mean exactly the same thing what they are giving us now. Let us transfer from PC to consoles. Why cant it be Crown Service? Some console player might buy PC and want to transfer to PC, for example.

It can't be a crown service as the three companies have completely separate stores.

If you pay ZOS, then ZOS has to set up two additional market places in all participating counties and currencies and consider conversion rates, etc. legal fees to do this, service staff and server techs and firewalls to monitor and prevent hacking and check the techs doing the service to prevent other issues and leaks.

It's really not as simple as just offering a service.

Taking files off one server and putting them on other servers that you don't own also gets tricky and costly.
I really believe it if we're simple they wouldn't have set up a "special offer" but instead announced a service.

To be fair...ZOS announced this over 11'months ago and still don't know the details as of 5/25

Same, i think opening it back up will devalue it for all those who actually bothered to keep even a little track of ESO to Console.

Also Xbox One, will be interesting to see how it fares

I agree with the OP that transfers should be an option in the future. I don't think it would devalue the Account Copy, since that was ~£15 for duplicating all of your characters, all of your progress, all of your items, and a copy of the game.

Anything available in the future would require that you separately purchased the game (possibly twice) for £50, and would be paying ~£20 on top of that for the transfer, which would be a transfer, not a copy.

Transfer options I would like to see:
    • Account Server Switch -- £20. This would take all characters from one server, and put them on the other. (NA -> EU and EU -> NA at the same time, for any platform, but only within that platform.)
    • Account Platform Transfer -- £25. This would take all characters from both servers on one platform, and put them on the servers of the other platform. (PC -> PS4/XB1, PS4 -> PC/XB1, XB1 -> PC/PS4)

If they ever work out how to move characters separately from accounts (which would be great for PTS), then you could have a Character Server Switch for £12 or a Character Platform Transfer for £15.

The issue with this is, the value and the cost wasn't $20.
It was more like $100 - $300 all together.
At the cheapest, its a min of $80

If it was offered for an additional $80 - $100 then I'm OK with this being added as a service but otherwise, its not O K.

edit: *Things changed from June 2014 but the cost hasn't changed, but offering a $20 account copy is a slap in the face unless its only available to those who originally qualified who somehow missed the window of opportunity.

    Zenimax was already extremely generous.

The offered it to everyone that bought the game in the first two months of release. That's a long period of time. They could have shortened the window to a week or even preorders only and it would have been fine.

I got my transfer. The less V14s I have to compete with on PS4, the better.

Wow you guys think cause you purchased the game and pay/paid a sub you are untitled to anything and everything for free. Some of you people's sense of entitlement is outrageous, you were offered awhole month for chance to move your stuff from of to console. If for whatever reason life kept you away from doing this for a whole month well that's just life and you need to get over it and move on. Some of you act like transferring characters from of to console is easy with push of a button.

I went ahead and purchased it as a "Just in case" assuming I will eventually get one or both consoles,,, I always do,,,, eventually.

Yes. I'm not getting ESO on Xbox One for $20, I had to pay for the original on PC first. I got lucky and found an Explorer Pack box discounted on Amazon when the transfer was originally offered so my cost is still $60 if we don't add in the Xbox One I bought specifically to play ESO and the subscription I maintained because nobody made me do that. But, it took no more effort than visiting this official forum and checking my email to know about the offer and to take advantage of it when the time was ripe. I do feel that it is devaluing everything if suddenly, after a year of put downs whenever anyone mentioned the console version, the forum is flooded with entitled whiny-babies who think they are being deprived unfairly.
