E3 2015 + Rant

So E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) is right around the corner (June) and it seems to be a promising one, hell Bethesda even has a conference this year. Which brings me to what I want to write here... for the life of every player in ESO announce an expansion... or at the very lease some new content for players. Are you fresh out of ideas? Feel free to take a look at your own forums and you'll see a backlog of requests dating back from initial release.

Also stop saying that your focusing on the console launch I've only been here since TU and already I'm sick of this statement so I feel sorry for the players that has been given that *** for a year now. I'd mention as well that as soon as my sub ends I'm not renewing it, why do I not hear you ask? It's simple it's because ESO Plus is just so much of a rip-off I mean the pathetic 1500 coins. and too small to actually notice boost to gold and xp buff is by far not enough for a sub; I'd also consider supporting you via the crown store if you actually had items worth buying and your coins were not overpriced, where's the items that will make my game more enjoyable such as extra bag space? I can say for certain that I don't care about cosmetic rubbish.

I just have a very important question, do you even care about your established PC audience? I don't think so otherwise you'd add some actual content people have been waiting for. Do you think the consoles will save you and re-ignite your audience? Well it will for awhile but even then it'll bomb down as they'll see the lack of support you're giving and leave as is the tradition to the latest COD, Bf, Halo, Killzone. So like just about everyone else I'm thinking about leaving your game if theirs nothing to show by the end of June whether it's presented at E3 or at an ESO Live. I'm an ES fan and it hurts to see Bethesda's (a company you unfortunately own) IP (Intellectual Property) put down in this way.

Nice post up until the end of the first paragraph where the whining. I'd like to see a gamechanging announcement for E3. It would be a huge disappointment if it were just more empty promises.

Same. Much more latency network wise and less stable client :(. No new stuff, no user interface and gameplay systems other than the pve justice which isn't much without the pvp enforcer part in yet, and general quality of life issues between the UI (even with addons, no nameplates, real buff tracking, or seeing who hit me with what in a combat log!) and bugs (favorites include unbreakable fear that ignores cc break and immunities including immovable pots a large portion of the time and hugged this way is uncounterable death, being feared through the world and sent back to the zone spawn point in cyrodiil (this one was fixed a few weeks later at least), and being unable to use keep doors or transitus shrines, which is awesome when in an outpost under siege and the walls are tall enough to leave you at 20% health if you attempt to simply jump into the enemy hordes).

I love this game still but they really need to get on some of these long overdue fixes, changes, and improvements, as well as get more substantial "new stuff to do" out the door. Not a beginning portion of one where all you need to do is grab some weapons off the racks at no risk from sneak at a shop and vendor them a few days to finish leveling it, but the pvp portion with risk and reward by bounty as well, long past due items like the Imperial City which had been slated for last year, and future DLC zones and minigames.

I have a few things I'd like to discuss before focusing on the details of the post.
First I'd like to discuss Bethesda's role in the development of ESO. They provided a fair number of resources to help in creating the world of ESO when this game was in it's infantile state; where it was less of a product and more of an idea. From there they taught the writing/lore team all they could about the Elder Scrolls Universe. Our great master of lore, Lawrence Schick, heading the team had many dealings with a team at Bethesda, but as months/years passed they slowly eased away to a mostly hands off role. Where ESO stands now, Bethesda has practically no input, and if/when they do it only deals with the lore.
Second, the major teaser/upcoming content event for ESO is, and has always been, Quake Con. Quake Con is a convention created by Zenimax Media, to celebrate gaming, and it provides a place for their development studios to showcase their games. This is where you will see Zenimax Online Studios make their "conference" which is solely about ESO. This year the con takes place from July 23 - 26.

    Now let's discuss the post.
In regards to you being sick of the "We're focusing on console." statement. I can understand why, but I will never feel bad for me or any others who hear it. We should never be angry at a game company for telling us the answer to our questions. If we keep asking when new content is coming, we're likely to get the same response. Honestly it's our own fault if we're sick of it.

ESO plus is optional so I don't understand why you're raging about that. There is a thread for discussing how to improve it along with what additions you'd like to see to the crown store, which they always look at. For me I pay for ESO plus to give my support to a game I love and play often. But I do think business wise that they may want to add a few more non-pay to win benefits.

Looking at content I agree that it has been lacking, and I think ZoS has really dropped the ball on showing support to their pre-TU player base. That being said, I've followed this game since 2012, and played in many of their beta builds. I was with the game for 2 months at launch, I decided to take a break until ESO became what I thought it should have launched at. Rejoining at update 5 I've now played just shy of 2 months in-game and I'm still not anywhere near completing all ESO has to offer. Giving an ultimatum isn't the way to go. In fact the only person who loses by you saying I won't play anymore is you. I would suggest that you take a hiatus, or log-in less/week if you're no longer having fun, and try returning at a later date. There are a few great games I've already planned to play in June while things slow down for me in ESO.

Expansion is always 2+ year, too early to ask it.

As for E3, my guess is Fallout 4, Dishonored 2 and ES6 announcements or Bethesda is working on ESO expansion but I really doubt, ES6 brings like 1000x more money, put yourself in that kind of risk sounds kind of stupid.

Trust me we are all tired of hearing about console. It's going to get worse when the fragmentation starts.

Mark my words, I'm calling it now. The computer and console experience will have ever increasing fragmentation. It is already starting with the improved group finder and birds eye siege view on console.

In a year, console and PC will seem like different games. Bugs fixed on console will languish on PC. It's gonna get a lot uglier before it gets better.

None of this matters. The conference is held by Bethesda Softworks, the publisher, not Bethesda Game Studios, the developer. Bethesda Softworks will talk about several games they publish, not necessarily the next BGS game, so this might very well include ESO and I'll be surprised if it doesn't - even if only to promote the console launch.

It will hold nothing on ESO apart from the amazing awesome unknown fact that it's being released or has been released on console. Then they will move on to the next awesome product they are shifting out of one of their studios.

That being said, if they GENUINELY mention that the crowd could, for a limited time only, get a Black Panther Senche Mount, then I will go and buy them. It would be worth it's weight in gold :D

Steam Charts, so it only includes people who bought the game through Steam. Now don't quote me on this because I don't have it on Steam, but I think you can launch the ESO client without launching Steam. If this is true, the real numbers are higher. But still they could be a bit better. For example, Archeage has a 30 day avg of 2.8k, FFXIV: 4k, Neverwinter: 3.1k and Rift: 1.3k. Some of those are F2P, though.

Just for fun, Skyrim's 30 day average is 33k. :P

You can't launch Skyrim without Steam. Only the release version could, patch 1.1 modified the .exe so it was no longer possible. Even if you launch through SKSE loader, it prompts you to log into Steam.

Some people probably play in offline mode, though.

What the hell do the Steam figures have to do with anything?

A hell of a lot of us bought the game from other places.

As for the cosmetic thing, as one of those folk that have been around since the beginning, we BEGGED them to only add cosmetic items.

I agree with the content. We have asked for it since launch. Some of us have been waiting for Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild since we stepped foot in the game during head start. So far we've got very little information.

A few of us stopped subbing for that very reason. We lost all faith in ZOS. I'm only posting now because it's the console move soon and I wanted to see what, if anything, had changed or been added. Last I heard was the justice system but without the PvP element.

Yeah the lore in the game is great, Lawrence Schick and his team (if he has one, if not he should) has done a fantastic job on keeping everything canonical. As others @Rosveen Zeni could very well have something to say at E3 and I hope they do. As for the enjoyment and the "I'm not playing anymore" part well I'm just vocalising (or writing) my frustrations here (rant) as people are leaving (me included if things don't change) and I want to give the courtesy to Zeni of telling them and not just randomly dropping off; this way if for whatever reason things don't change and they're left with a very small player base then they only have themselves to blame.

Elder Scrolls 6 will not be for years to come, with this MMO which costs far more to make than a standard RPG they'd want to milk this for all it's worth; or risking ESO tanking as everyone moves on to the proper Elder Scrolls sequel. Also I think the team on Fallout is the same team that makes the Elder Scrolls games so we know it'll be at least a few years post the Fallout 4 launch. As Zeni is the parent company for Beth it could happen, if not though that's why I also mentioned ESO Live.
If you have only been playing the game for a little over two months (TESOU launch) and you have already gotten through all of the current content and require new content then you are going to be sadly disappointed. At that rate of completion of content they will never be able to produce content fast enough for you.

I'm not asking for a full blown expansion, just some actual new content. Didn't I read an article about a year ago that they were dedicated to adding new content about every 2-4 months (or something of that nature, it has been awhile)? Yes I'm sure I did, but that was BEFORE they laid off a bunch of their team.

It's from Steam charts, it shows how many people are logging on THROUGH STEAM. The site can be found here. Yes I know Steam charts are not all the player base (myself included, I got my copy from GMG for the Zeni Store), but it is a significant one with players who only want to use Steam.

As for E3, my guess is Fallout 4, Dishonored 2 and ES6 announcements or Bethesda is working on ESO expansion but I really doubt, ES6 brings like 1000x more money, put yourself in that kind of risk sounds kind of stupid.

Next Bethesda game cant be that far. Skyrim was released in 2011. Btw, only Fallout game what is made by Bethesda is Fallout 3 and all ES single playing titles are made by Bethesda, so my bet is ES6. Also I dont think ES6 does any harm to ESO, its more they like feed each other.

Back on topic, Steam never been MMO game place. I dont think Ive ever seen MMO game reaching 10k concurrent user.
