How do you guys play? (Camera perspective, Poll)

Until recently, I refused to play a 1stP anything. However, in this series I play in 3rdP 90% of the time with my camera over the right shoulder of my character and zoomed out just enough to expose their feet. I switch to 1stP when my character needs to look at something, is in a narrow passage or 3rdP view is obstructed by an object like a tree branch.
Words contained in posts, at which point I stop reading and will not respond...
Toon / Mana / WoW or any acronym following "In ___" /
Pets (when referring to summoned Daedra) / Any verbiage to express slang (ie, ending in uz,az,..) / Soul Stone
    ... to be continued.

    Now, get off my lawn.

Started out in first person and still prefer it. But you just stand in the red too much in first person and get hit by stuff from behind, etc. So I have switched to third person for better situational awareness.

I zoom in and out all the time; when I enter a building or when I'm about to steal items, I zoom in quite a lot (but not fully 1st person), and I zoom out whenever I'm outside and/or in combat. It all depends. But playing for years in 1st person only, I'm now happy with 3rd person and won't go back anymore.

Play all previous Elder Scrolls titles in First Person.

Played Beta here in First Person.

First Person just does not really work for gameplay here.

looks like they wasted a lot of time and money on first person before the game even launched, good job at listening to the minority zos, i mean, im pretty positive people would like a smoother combat and less bugs more then first person.

Being able to play in first-person perspective is one of the reasons I play ESO because that's how I've played the other ES titles and I want to get lost in the immersion.

Then, again, like the other ES titles, I'm almost always solo questing, exploring, and role playing. I'm just having fun doing my own thing and I don't feel compelled (yet) to group for dungeons or PvP. When that time comes, I'll very likely play in third-person perspective because I'll be responsible for more than just myself.

    Cannot stand 1st person gaming.

Why even have a character creator if you're not going to look at your character?
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

I think they did it to encourage more sales, many people on the console play Elder Scrolls/Fallout in first person, and since it is coming to consoles advertising the game in their trailers all in first person (which if you look at their teaser videos, they are doing) should hopefully boost sales.

But I agree, I would rather it just be in 3rd person, that way I think combat responsiveness would be easier to achieve.

Exactly, that's why I play as a dog ugly khajiit, so everyone knows this one will pick your pockets and then bash you over the head.

I play in 3rd person, zoomed out as far as possible.

As a TES veteran I did start out in 1st person but soon realised that it restricted my view a bit, so switched to 3rd person fairly early on - it did take a little bit of getting used to, but I now find it miles better than 1st person.

1st person in pretty much all circumstances now. Have got much better at spotting the tells than when I first started.
Have done dungeons, vet dungeons, PvP, etc in 1st person without major issues.
However I almost certainly die more often in PVP from the lack of situational awareness and the 1st person tells are still inadequate.

What I think would be interesting / fun would be a 1st person only PvP campaign.. where you are forced into 1st person view - as this would add a new level of tactics.

I do both. In combat its 3rd person all the time (especially group content), but when I am exploring a town or a safe area I'll sometimes go into first person just to get immersed in the area (and have an easier time seeing the small details that I can steal).

First person, face to face, mano a mano.

No, I can't see behind me. No, I can't see most of the red...

    I play hard mode!

Why is limiting one's FOV considered "hard mode?" In that case, I'll put on a 'blast helmet' and use 'The Force...'

    "Limiting"? Or "Augmenting"?

You choose easy mode and augment your FOV. If you want to know why it's easier to play in third person then read the comments - or just ask yourself why you prefer an augmented field of view. I thought " I can't see behind me", "I can't see most of the red" was self-explanatory.

There's an immersive aspect too - I play as "me", not as a puppet master pulling the strings of something on a screen. I see what my character sees. I know most people aren't interested in arguments of "purity" or "immersion", but it is a consideration for me :)

When this question was asked before I remember on third-person player saying they'd slipped into first person and were horrified by how grotesque Imps were when they get in your face - something you just don't get in third person view.

For me 3rd Person IS THE immersive view.

IRL I am far more situationally aware about what is to my sides and immediately behind me than I can ever be in 1st Person mode in a game.

For pve healing and pvp I zoom out as far as possible, for pve dps I use 3rd person, but not zoomed out to the maximum, for questing and exploring I used 1st person.

I've always played in third person in all the ES games since Morrowind. Also I'm always an archer or a mage... Back then playing third person was hardcore... TESO is my sweet, sweet revenge
