How do you guys play? (Camera perspective, Poll)

Was just wondering what the majority mainly focus on. Me, I don't really like the constant battle between first and third person when playing, so I primarily play in third person and have adjusted my camera perspective options accordingly : )

Where did you find your sweet spot? I found I like my character in the middle of the screen, with camera panned slightly upwards so that my cursor isn't floating on my character.

Occasionally I'll play for a bit in first person when I'm feeling like I want a more immersive experience, but 95% or more of the time I play in 3rd person.

I played every other ES game in 1st-person.

I started out playing this game in 1st-person, for a few days, until I realized that it was impossible to play well that way, due to the inability to see enemy telegraphs, and the game's generally horrible 1st-person implementation.

I've been playing in fully-zoomed-out 3rd person ever since.

3rd person. I used to play 1st person, but I realized how screwed I was long term because you can't reliably see AOEs cast around you.

Third person, camera zoomed out as far as the game will allow and with my FOV adjusted wider than the default. I get motion sickness otherwise.

On my main character - which I play most immersively - I play the game in first person. I do have an add-on that automatically kicks me into 3rd person when in combat, and then puts my back in first person when I am out of combat. (I believe the add-on is called Dominoids Immersive Things)

During dungeons etc. - I add DPS/map/whole bunch of add-ons, as well, I play in 3rd person completely.

On my other characters, that I rush a bit through - I play mostly in third although sometimes in first, using the add-on I mentioned above.

[EDIT] When in third person I am zoomed all the way out, with my character centered. I find it too hard in combat to move the reticle away from being on top on my character.. as it feels I have to fight off-centre. To fix this, I use an add-on that just automatically hides the reticle. It only appears when I hover over an interactable (such as a lootable crate or enemy). I believe it is Wykkyd's immersion that does that. I do love my add-ons.. haha

Both

Solo PvE = 1st Person
Group PvE or PvP = 3rd Person

You loose out on situational awareness in 1st person. So, I don't want to gimp my group in PvE, or gimp my fighting in PvP.
Solo PvE, I only gimp myself and it makes the game more immersive.

A while ago I played primarily in 1st person view, but 3rd person view gives such a huge better view for combat.
Currently primarily 3rd person view, using 1st person view exclusively to enjoy certain views/sceneries.

I gotta say I love both perspectives, but for large scale PVP 3rd Person is a must but whenever possible I like to play in 1st person.

3rd person is very traditional for MMO gamers thanks to previous games like WOW and Ultima Online, but in largely I think that is a rather outdated necessity. I look at games which FORCE 1st person like Planet Side 2 and people manage rather well and it greatly helps immersion on the battlefield; however when you give old-school MMO players a perspective they already feel comfortable in which also gives a really unrealistic 360 perspective it damages the playing field. I'd also argue that keeping competitive MMO 3rd person also takes some of the actual strategy out of the game, look at Planet Side 2 again and people actually use tactics they're flanking people, they generate agro as a distraction and so forth; these tactics simply don't work in this game as competitive old-school MMO gamers can simply see EVERYTHING around them which ruins said tactics.

Back to your question, whenever I play in Cyro I always go 3rd person (reasons above), but for single player content it must be 1st person.

I prefer First Person in games, but this game just about requires 3rd Person for Combat/Situational Awareness

If you like immersion... I use a couple to help... Wykkyd's immersion (hides helmet when not in combat, auto shows it when you are in combat.. as well takes away the reticle when not needed) Dominoids Immersive things does my 1st to 3rd switching, as well I use it to hide dialogue text - as this ensures you actually listen, not just speed read. As well, err.. True Exploration I believe it it? Hides your map until you explore the area... and Harven's Quest journal makes the quest journal look fantastic, as well tracks old quests, every step of quests along with time stamps of when you finished that portion.

Of course, when I go in dungeons, I turn pretty much all of that off and then turn on Advanced UI, Combat cloud etc. I'm with others, I love first, but in no way want to gimp myself in group content.

I played other TES games in first person, but Skyrim was where I got used to 3rd person. I played through a bunch of it in first person, then one day tried 3rd and got hooked. I still like first person when I want a more immersive experience, but the vast majority of the time I prefer 3rd person these days.

@Cuyler I have seen it, but I have not been brave enough to use it yet. On my next character I also plan on hiding quest markers and whatnot, so maybe on that toon I'll be brave enough for the limited vision.. and try it in first person 100% of the time.

Mm, for me it had to be centered. In this style of gaming, I couldn't take over-the-shoulder style. Feels most comfortable for me that way now. I occasionally drop into 1st for kicks, but almost always stay in 3rd person now.

That's very cool. I could never play regularly like that, but I might check it out anyway and try for some full-immersion helmet-wearing gameplay... Turn off every piece of UI and just go to town with the restricted view my helmet allows.

Why is limiting one's FOV considered "hard mode?" In that case, I'll put on a 'blast helmet' and use 'The Force...'
