vortexman11 wrote: »AD doesn't stop, they've been doing it for a while now, back and forth between Haderus and Azuras star. People get mad at EP because they killed Thornblade, but AD has been killing these two campaigns for far longer
Both campaigns have long been the realm of the AD PvE guilds like DiG. Those people are not concerned with the health of PVP. Their only priority is the keep bonuses (buffs) for use in Trials etc.
Perhaps we should solicit ZOS to do away with buffs for trials?
Suggestion:
Declare Haderus to be the "PvE" Cyrodiil. Impossible to enforce, but may solicit some traction from DC/EP/AD PvE guilds. Let them RP, do quests, dance, whatever.
Then we'll fight over Thorn / Chill / Azuras. Perhaps combined scoring?
Anyway possible this could be implemented by verbal agreement?
No - for two reasons.
1) It won't work because you cannot expect players from all three factions to go out there and PvE together without killing one another.
2) Some of us have been fighting on Haderus for most of a year and mostly under extreme conditions like what you see on Thorn now. I'll be damned if I'll turn it over to a bunch of PvE'rs who made our lives miserable under Sura when Haderus was a AD buff server.
1. You're right -- I can't expect players to do anything really. The suggestion is a de facto solution to a problem that ZoS hasn't addressed in a whole damn year! Our player base -- for the health of PvP -- must try to come to some agreements about how to solve them. If they want healthy PvE in Cyro, they'll organize the rules themselves.
2. Fine, then let them have Chillrend. I don't really care which one. The point is that there are several threads per week where PvE players complain about being killed while questing, or being farmed, or whatever. Some players just want to grind dungeons. Duelers want a spot, too. I actually like just riding around Cyro b/c I think its a neat zone. I say declare a spot -- then everyone is happy! When they're rdy to jump to the big dance they'll transfer.

Seriously, you still think we retreated?
Ignorance is bliss, keep your head in the sand.
Are you insulting him over the use of specific semantics? Because if I go to dictionary.com, it seems he used the term correctly with associated context.
I can retreat into the next room, and not have it have a negative context. I don't think one was implied. AD/DC, for whatever reason (lag, Havoc, et al), retreated.
Withdrew. Left. Vacated.
What's wrong with what he said?
It's been used over and over again in a negative context, that's why. Did you read the quote he posted?
Armitas mentions that it is an embarrassment for EP because they ruined the server by the tactics and playstyles used over and over again. Satiar then comes in and says DC/AD retreated, not that EP ran them off the server because of those tactics/playstyles. Believe me, I'd have loved to stay fighting on Thornblade, but when people refuse to change for the betterment of PvP, we had no choice but to leave the campaign in the rubble that EP created.
It is the refusal to take any responsibility, when even your fellow EP players acknowledge the issue, that irks me.
I can only really participate in the credit for the first two Thornblade wins anyways, due to having been on a long hiatus after that and returning just as Thornblade crashed and burned.
And yes, I did read what he quoted. Coming in and taking a swipe at Satiar over semantics isn't constructive and you know it.
And, while yes, EP shoulders the vast majority of the blame for Thornblade being the way it is now, the other factions currently show no sign of learning from their past mistakes (Auriel's Bow, Bloodthorn, early Chillrend) or from EP's mistakes in maintaining Thornblade as a buff server.
Either ZOS needs to start policing us or we have to start policing ourselves, and I have little faith in the latter, as the entire community as a whole has failed over and over and over and over again to police themselves on even the smallest level.
This is why I mentioned in the 'Crown Lag' thread that the ESO community is one of the most virulent and toxic ones I've ever seen for an MMO and I played Shadowbane, for Christ's sake.
I'll concede that it wasn't constructive for the sake of not arguing with you because we see eye to eye on a lot of issues. The point of my post lies in what I've said. Part of moving on is understanding what happened in Thornblade, and other campaigns, taking responsibility where it needs to be, and learning/moving on from that.
You can look through my post history, I am in complete agreement that we need to spread out over campaigns for the health of PvP, or we are going to slowly kill it and drive everyone away. ZOS has proved incapable of fixing the lag, and it is up to us to mitigate it as much as we can, while still allowing everyone to have some degree of enjoyment.
I've talked to both of my PvP guilds about moving campaigns, because I believe that we need to swap ASAP or Azura's is dead until the next reset. I'm not trying to get revenge on EP and ruin another campaign because of past transgressions. What happened to EP on Azuras happened to EP on Thorn. But back than, we had guilds stacked and ready to fight it.
And in my opinion, EP won because of fantastic guild coordination.
I totally agree that you won because you had better coordination. You had throngs of people on 24/7 making sure that you kept the lead and flipped keeps back while DC/AD had very little to no organized defense. Then at prime time, the lag was so horrible you could barely do anything to combat what had taken place earlier/later on.
Whatever was taken during primetime by AD/DC was flipped back after and we had to take it all back again the next day.
Let's face it, whichever side has the better daytime/night capping force, wins the campaign. Until they restructure how scoring works, it will always be this way.
AD and DC constantly double teamed us, with huge numbers.
Stop being obtuse, Satiar. Really I didn't start this thread to revisit TB. We can argue till the cows come home why ep dominated there. Does it matter? You guys will never admit to anything and dc and ad will never be able to get you to see our side.
What I am hoping for is some AD admission that Azura is being similarly wrecked and it's not good for anyone, not even them. And lets find a solution.
I second the first part of this.
Some of AD has admitted to the state of Azura's, but we need DC/EP to work with us and provide some kind of competition if we are to have a few guilds leave, otherwise the campaign will just die off and be left to rubble.
They won't even explain to us WHY they are keeping these buffs for pve in pvp zone? I think they at least owe us an answer.
I am begging you. Don't let it rot like TB. Then it will be two 30 day campaigns that are not viable and that been abandoned due to poor faction communication and coordination. PLEASE allow competitive fights to resume in that server. The only way to accomplish this is for every AD guild, except save one, to leave. Yes, I know you're walking away from rewards. But so did a lot of us on the opposing factions. Suck it up-show some class and do what's right for the game and those whom love it. I don't really need to repeat what many have said but I will summarize: all of us who have stuck with this game have done so because we obviously love it. It is our escape after work, school, etc. To see it get ruined this way is heartbreaking. Last night my guild attempted to migrate over to another server and half of us were able to squeeze and and the other half sat in queue all night because there is already Dc jammed in there. So a good 12+ of my guys couldn't engage in pvp with their guildees and friends. Is this *really* what you want? And I KNOW my guild isn't alone. To ruin the game for so many people...really? You want to chase even more players away from pvp? Erode guilds? Is one campaign win really worth it?
There is already a ton of AD pugs on Azura. Allow DC and Ep to return and push them back a bit, gain some ground and then one perhaps two AD guilds return and the map again becomes viable, sustainable and populated again. More good fights and ap for all. Short of doing this, Azura will go the way of TB and both 30 day camps are totally one color and unplayable. Because you smart AD leaders, you know what will happen. AD pugs are going to sit on that map just like ep pugs are doing on TB. And they do what? PVE!!! We are the pvp community. All of us organized guilds represent the pvp community. We are the ONLY way to keep pvp alive and fun. Or we can kill it and hand it over to the pve'ers like we are slowly and inevitably doing.

This is hilarious. What do you expect for AD to do go back to red's buff server (thorn)? I mean, its fun farming red at the gate but it gets boring and repetitive after a while. Yesterday I left Azuras to help with the 2-Bar AD Emp push only to find EP immediately get pop locked and zerged the entire map back to red.
You want AD to go blue's to buff server (chillrend)? Itll be the same thing as thorn but farming blues instead and we all know blues NEVER zerg... When Ad came to Azuras it was covered in blue and then 2 guilds showed up in AD put up a fight. There was about 1 red guild in Azuras at the time but as soon as campaign reset 2-3 more red guilds showed up making the lag fights even more common. Eventually blues left to chillrend haha and now theyre blaming AD for it. All it took was 2 AD guilds and I never once saw them meteor spam their way onto a flag.
That leaves Haderus only... LOL crap rewards and I believe AD owns that server so you want to us to PvE at Haderus?
ZoS better find a way to fix the lag because look at what it is causing people to do. Now people are creating threads asking for an alliance to move....

Well if youre going to split up, that does include some people leaving, so yes.
But looks like like youre being asked to not bring too many players to one server.
My question is, how come people are putting AD on the spot? We came over to Azuras after Thornblade because we heard there was blues there and less red. When we first went there as guests, the blue zerg was real. That blue zerg went everywhere together. And here blue is asking AD to leave or split up?? haha The same argument can be said with Red in thornblade and yet red didnt care they zerged, lagged, and nightcapped everything for months.
At this point, all this drama can be fixed if ZoS gets their s*** together and start fixing the lag. All these problems would go away. Only 21 more days till ZoS comes out of their cave
Let me ask you a question Ishammael. Cyrodiil was intended to be the AvAva battleground, PvP on a large scale. Why should we try to make PvE in Cyro a priority?

I want to have large-scale PvP just like you. We've met on the battlefield plenty of times and it is always good fun.
RE: PvE in Cyro.
In order so that we can PvP w/o ruined or "buff" campaigns. That is my only intent. The suggestion exists only in the current environment where ZoS does nothing. For example, they could remove PvP buffs which would be a huge help. Or they could fix lag. Or any number of things which have been suggested over and over again.

WarrioroftheWind_ESO wrote: »They won't even explain to us WHY they are keeping these buffs for pve in pvp zone? I think they at least owe us an answer.
They can't, remember. We arent console. All we get is stone walling and silence, unless our issues bother someones RP event; in which case ZoS acts faster than lightning strikes.
I believe their official response for this on the subject months ago was 'people need incentive to pvp". As if the end-of-cycle rewards and gold isn't enough, or that it isn't enough to just beat people up or engage in those epic 20/20 siege battles. And let's not forget that one hilarious livestream they did when they were running a trial, i think DSA or SO or something like that, and one of their devs commented "lol what happened? Oh, we don't have our buffs."
"OUR" buffs. *OUR* buffs.
That attitude is one of the reasons EP on Haderus kept persisting to take the map, because we'd get angry tells en masse that "You're ruining our trials!" I even remember someone in a tri-alliance trading guild commenting that a guildmate of his was complaining that "OMG EP are taking stuff on Haderus again!"
Camp buffs have done nothing but breed selfishness and a warped possessiveness, nothing to encourage pve play. Most people are sick of current pve content to begin with. If they don't want to even try doing it unless its for that 80th helm run what makes you think a buff is going to help any?
Leave PVE for PVE land and keep PVP in PVP. That's the argument many of us have been screaming for for months to no avail. As it is it was pulling teeth to have buffs localized to campaigns so we weren't having DC with their little buff server, and EP with their little buff server, and AD with their half dozen buff servers. But it still doesn't help because looking at the camp spread, its the same thing. People don't want to compete for anything. They don't want the hard-fought win or the narrow finish. They want easy rewards and a slam dunk. The only thing that can be done is if members on the dominating faction grow a pair and migrate to a server that actually needs them or opposing factions step up and push them back.
PVP should be its own reward. Just look at the people who make careers out of showcasing their builds, proving the unconventional, sharing their lore. I know I felt stoked when I punched my way up on the leaderboards, and thats part of the reason I'm abstaining from the current cycle. It was taxing as hell. It's not for everyone, but thats the point, not everyone can be the best. There's no such thing as more than one #1s. There's no gold star sticker. (Unless you have low pop bonus...)
Instead of getting angry at what you can't do be pleased with what you can. That you're the guy who lands the killing blow on the top enemy player, or that your siege shot wasted half a dozen people coming through the breach. If you can't find joy in pvp, then what the *** are you even DOING in Cyro? Besides dolmens and delves?
DC keep pushing. EP keep pushing. AD keep fighting. The only reason 'buff servers' persist is because no one bothers to oppose. It's just "oh well they gate camp us, they too strong, I'm gunna leave". Pansy! You forget so easily how you performed in the last cycle, or how even when one faction was gatecamped they still bust out and took the ring the next day. Stop drinking that sour grape juice and go eat some AP burgers for *** *** sake!

Wait are you saying that AD and DC would generally flip the map back in their favor on Thornblade at primetime?
We definitely didn't play the same game.

This is wrong on so many ways. We're comparing current campaign dispersion to a time where there was only one populated campaign. It's just false equivalency. Most major AD guilds have been in Chillrend up until now. What happened to EP on Azuras happened to EP on Thorn. But back than, we had guilds stacked and ready to fight it.

EP won because of night capping. Mostly because I believe they have the strongest Oceanic presence.
I don't give two craps about night capping, I'm not QQing, just a statement of fact.
EP would cap between 8am-noon EST, prime time oceanic if I'm not mistaken, and lose the map during prime time consistently. That's just the truth. I would log on before noon and see full guild raids of EP PvDooring with no organized opposition on any other faction, then log back on in prime time and all EP was doing was defending Chal for the Dee ticks. Next day? Same cycle.
Once again, I dont give two craps, play when you want to play, the game doesn't stop when I log off, take any undefended keep you want, but when certain EP players and guilds (not referring to you Frozn) beat their chests because of, that's when it crosses the line.

I remember quite the opposite. I remember logging in to see all our raid's progress undone, with DC pushing exclusively to Chalman and AD exclusively to BRK/Sej/Arrius. A constant double team. Players are proud about holding up against a very strong Green Alliance, and rightfully so.

You're going to try to counter me with a single screenshot? Are you serious? One screenshot from a month long campaign that was already decided by that point?
I remember multiple days, AD and DC inside Arrius, sieging their own sides, careful not to engage in the keep or anywhere on the map. There were concerted, organized efforts there, and at the very least they mostly ignored each other. Think about how busy Sej/Alessia and Bleakers/Chal were as compared to Nickle/Ash or Nickle/Roe. Which isn't bad, it was a lot of fun, and it's what a three-faction war is all about. But it's still a thing, and I can't believe anyone's denying Blue and Yellow concentrated most of their efforts on red.
