About the new playing with friends video... voice chat & VR ranks

The new video mentions built-in voice chat without saying that's just a console feature... does this mean our PC voice chat is coming "soon"?

Also, VR ranks are mentioned as a feature... is their eventual removal being rethought? Is that now in limbo?

I highly doubt they are ever going to actually remove Vet Ranks.

Nice theory about things I already know. But all of the 3rd party PC voice chat programs have a glaring problem: evry other group or guild you join want to use their favorite one, with their own private server PW and permissions... built-in voice has none of those issues: you're in a group? You're in that group's voice chat with no fuss or muss.

Besides, they've already stated that PC voice is being actively tested internally.

The only news here is that it's mentioned so casually anyone watching the video would believe all versions have it.

No, it would be filled with people complaining about how other guilds/people do nothing and theirs is the only competent one. it would be like Zone chat except now you can hear it.

    OR

you'd hear nothing because everyone is already using a guilds voice chat.

Voice chat implementation for PC really is a waste of funds and time. They have 3 DLCs they need to have released already. The game thats out isnt even finished. voice chat should be the last thing to waste money on.

Do you even play in Cyrodiil?

Most groups other than guild groups there have about half the people on voice and half out... even guild groups have some hold-outs. With built-in there is no excuse and even for those that don't like to talk or have no mic, they can hear everything for instant communication.

Zone voice can be turned off with the press of a button just like text zone chat can be.

Developing voice chat for PC games waste of time an money considering all the alternative already available.

The "alternative" on PC is a confused 3rd-party mess. Half your guild is using Mumble, half are using Teamspeak, another half are using RaidCall, and the last half is using some weird program out of Germany. Having a simple universal built-in alternative would be sweet.

It's pretty clear that you are completely unfamiliar with this technology and how hit can be a benefit. That's fine, but you really shouldn't rail against it the way you are. It only makes you look foolish. It's very valuable for PUGs and even Cyrodiil. Yes I would still use my own guild's TS but for those times that I don't feel like guiding people on how to install TS and then put the info in to chat a built in VC is quite useful and sort of standard at this point for AAA MMOs.

The new video mentions built-in voice chat without saying that's just a console feature... does this mean our PC voice chat is coming "soon"?

Also, VR ranks are mentioned as a feature... is their eventual removal being rethought? Is that now in limbo?

Developing voice chat for PC games waste of time an money considering all the alternative already available.

So youre excited that people who are already part of guilds and using that guilds preferred voice chat are gonna get another useless feature in ESO?

Instead of wasting time and money they could
    1 fix the game
    2 Fix the lag
    3 fix the crashing
    4 Fix pve ***
    5 fix cyrodiil
    6 LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE

The whining threads are thatawy -->

Yeah, built-in voice chat, especially for Cyrodiil would be a huge addition to the PC game even if you can't see why.

    (sarcasm on)
But A¢tivision added Twitter support IN THE GAME.
I mean, surely that is the benchmark to aim for?
    (sarcasm off)

I bet it gets a lot more use than their in-game voice chat ever has.

    That's not sarcasm.

The number of edits by moderator is too damm high.
    ..lel

Rly tho', it said "Veteran Status".. so you can basically just make that lv 50 is replaced with that shield and there you go, then they just scale everything to Lv50/Vr1 (same stats) and it's done. Simple and Easy.

I was spoiled I guess playing LOTRO for years and having the built in voice chat. It really comes in handy.

[Moderator Note: Edited quote to match moderated version]

The excuse is "I don't have a mic" which is the only excuse, the future excuse, and the current one.

Nothing changes except as stated, the game remains broken while the devs re-implement something Teamspeak does better. So while we're taking a snide tone, do YOU actually play in Cyrodiiil? Because I do, and have for about nine months and every guild that matters uses TS3. Dot.

I'd just wait. They alreday said PC would possibly get the option for console UI/gamepad controls as well as voice-chat post console release. :)
