Maintenance for the week of April 13:

No wall or floor textures

gezzerb16_ESO
I did a search and didn't find a post that fully contained/explained this bug, so I decided to post. If there is in fact one I apologize.

I've been running into a bug where when you enter a high NPC and lots of small objects room like a tavern or bank. No or few textures for the walls and floors load. This started at least 3 or 4 patches ago, and till today was at worse immersion breaking. Today the game hard crashed while this bug was displaying. I haven't changed the video options since the day I loaded the game, well before the unlimited patch. If I remember correctly this bug first appeared after the DX9 improvement patch, and that might be the culprit.

I have the same issues, but only for a few seconds (sometimes minutes, most commonly when I'm also lagging a lot).

So does it stay that way, or e.g. grabbing a drink and having some food, also solves it overtime?

It might have to do with lag, cause the interior details have to be sent to you. If the problem is persistent, it might be cause of a firewall issue or cause you don't have admin rights.

It's possible, but you'd think it'd be NPC positional data if it was a lag issue, not something fixed like the walls and floors. I can see all the NPCs (moving around) and all the items, it's just the walls and floors that are missing. It's almost like it's a texture caching issue or something, because it only happens when entering an enclosed space like an Inn.

But this time it was after I entered the crafting room in Elden Root, and it didn't pop in after a couple of seconds like it normally does. Instead I stumbled around for a good minute or so till the client crashed. It's the crashing with the send an error report that makes me suspicious that it's something else other than lag. If it was purely lag you would think it would kick me off the server with a server error, instead of a client crash.

I get the same issue. When I enter an interior of a building, there are no floors or walls for a few seconds. It is definitely immersion breaking. It seems like this only started happening with 1.6.

Actually, I was able to fix it. I did two things, the repair function in the patcher. And then I found one addon from esoui.com that wasn't updating properly in Minion. Just thought I'd mention it if anyone else is having an issue.

It's good you found addon and didn't mention it's name. Thanks!

It was Wykkyd's Full Immersion. I found it by testing each addon one by one.

Thanks for the link, and if I remember correctly one of the patches had "improvements" to DX9 rendering. I think this started after that patch, so we now know the problem. It's funny I have a GTX680, so you'd think I'd be using the DX11 renderer. As for addons I don't have any graphical ones, so I don't think that's it.

There is another thread right now http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/161749/texture-glitch-with-d3d9-graphics-driver#latest

It seems to be with the D3D9 setting and does not happen with the D3D11

Well, it turns out that my "fix" didn't fix it after all. So, seeing the mention of D3D9 possibly causing the issue, I forced the use of D3D11 in the usersettings.txt file and that seemed to fix it. I had to make the file Read Only so the game wouldn't change it back to directx 9.

    Update on the problem:

It is in fact DX9 rendering I'm all but certain. I tried the user file fix and it didn't seem to work. I checked the file and sure enough it had gone back to DX9. I saw, in one of the other threads, someone with the same problem who had realized that they had enabled XP compatability and that was why it wasn't sticking. Sure enough I had done the same when dealing with a connection issue, that turned out to be WiFi related. Changed it to no compatibility setting checked and it's now running in DX11, with better frame rates to boot, and of course no wall/floor texture bug.
