Greetings,

some people might still remember the Sorcerer crisis, a few months ago. I've stopped playing ESO a few months ago, after this current version went online.
They've .... well, promised some Sorcerer changes to us. After reading the patchnotes of the last 2-3 months, I can't discover any changes.
Did anything happen so far ? Or nothing at all ?

    Sorcs haven't changed.

    With that said there's now videos of sorcs solo'ing dungeons. So if you're one of the many that thought sorcs were underpowered, you'd be wrong.

    If nothing has changed, then this statement is true though. With the championsystem, PvE is much easier and it becomes easier every day. So this can't be a Sorcerer thing.

    If you are one of the many who thought Sorcs are overpowered, you'd be wrong, too.

    I only would consider them overpowered when they start defeating Molag Bal just by looking at him.

    Also, people crying about being killed by sorcs in PvP.

    My sorc is still leveling and has a mish-mash of skills right now so she's not particularly awesome, but a friend who is an awesome sorc reassessed his build after 1.6, got himself new gear and changed some morphs around and he is very happy playing his main toon.

    The biggest change to happen to Sorcs in the last few months is the nerf to Critical Surge healing that happened in update 1.6. My main skill bar used to be Surge, Inner Light and a bunch of Weapon Skills, usually Destruction. Now the must have skills are Hardened/Empowered Ward, Ball of Lightning, Crystal Frag/Blast and maybe some Twilight and Clannfear toggles, LOL.

    The second biggest change is that high Magicka/Stamina regen is much easier to achieve. You don't really need to have a staff to supplement your Magicka sustain anymore. Casters (like me) are actually carrying DW or 1H+S on their main bar just for the extra set bonus and/or Spell Damage... that's how useless Destruction Staff is now.

    The third biggest change is that Wards are much more effective than before.... but they HAVE to be, because your options for self-healing are so bad and damage from both PvE mobs and PvP opponents is so high. It's sucks having to refresh your Ward every 3 seconds, but you just have to get used to it.

    Sorcs soloing dungeons (or any class for that matter) is not new. And while the champion system makes it easier, it's been done before 1.6

    Unlike most replies so far, I think you're talking about how Sorcs up to a few months ago were absurdly underpowered in PvE, barely reaching 1200 dps IF YOU PLAYED FLAWLESSLY, and most trials groups in the top spots wouldn't carry Sorcs at all.

    If that's the case, then a lot has changed with 1.6. Many skills were tweaked, and the removal of soft caps means that the new meta is getting as much magicka (or stamina, whatever rocks your boat) as possible while having enough hp to stay alive. Sorc single-target dps is pretty good right now and you can play around with a variety of builds, not simply the light attack/crushing shock that yielded the most dps pre-1.6. Other changes include:

    - wards (they scale off max magicka and can be really powerful);
    - light armor (nerfed hard, but you have your wards to keep you alive if needed)
    - critical surge (they added a cooldown so that not every crit strike will heal you, which sucks because if the one that does heal you is a small tick from an aoe, if you then land a huge crit from another skill you won't get the heal from that);
    - better synergies between summoned pets and skills (though I still haven't really tried a pet build);
    - other stuff I can't recall right now.

    Yes. They changed but not as much as some would like. They have a dot build that is supposed to do well using the CoA monster set.

    Burst damage for Sorcs is pretty good, which is why you hear so many PvPers whining about Sorcs. People are using the Fury, Curse and Frags combo and sometimes Overload for insane burst damage. Sustained DPS is still poor compared to other classes, no matter what anybody tells you. People will show you screenshots of 14K DPS and claim "Sorc DPS is fine", but ignore all the DKs and NBs doing 18K+ or whatever.

    thx, that's consistent with what I've been seeing on mine - since I've been grinding on it lately (my main in an NB).
