Also the consul players don't play together either the console is separate from the other
Friend today informed me that console players will not be able to play with PC users. If this is true it's pretty dumb.
I hope the developers re-think this decision.

DCUO is in the process of amalgamating the PC and PS communities. FF online games are all cross -platform. This lame excuse from developers that the "infrastructure" or whatever might be the excuse-of-the-day hinders cross platforming is becoming increasingly transparent. It can be done, and successfully. If anything it increases revenue and keeps the community alive rather than fracturing it.
I wouldn't be surprised if they merged the servers in a year or so and made it cross platform. A loss of revenue could do just that.

Aside from the fact this is mostly due to PS+/ XBL policies it would also cause a significant amount of over-crowding/ lag.

Don't blame PSN, they've done plenty of cross platform multiplayer in the recent past. It was apparently MS that nixed the deal, and it's them who consistently refuse to let Live players mix with other platforms on this and several other titles. It's just part-and-parcel of the whole anti-consumer/anti-gamer Xbox attitude in recent years that led me to forgo the Xbox One after long dedication to the original Xbox and the 360, and instead go with the PS4 this generation.

I play with a controller and it's never been a problem for me. Do you need to make a lot of precision headshots in ESO?

One issue with this happening is that I imagine it would require them to shut down addon construction. Without the option of using addons, I can see the console players being at a fairly decent disadvantage to PC players. While it would be nice for the consoles and the PC players to be in the same server, I don't know that it's possible at this point in the game.
Are there any other games that have cross platform gaming like this ?

what is dumb is that internet posters with zero business experience think that this is the fault of the game publisher.
the last game to allow cross platform play was final fantasy XI. you can do your own googling after that.
Tis a very silly idea
Separate the ps4,xbox one and pc community but i dont think it was their choice but Microsoft and Sony not getting along as usual without some sort of huge cash settlement.

Correct on this one. MS/Xbox area the reason that cross play got nixed. Sony was fine with it
It would be better to keep them apart. This way you get 16 characters on PC/MAC. 8 on NA 8 on EU. So on console you will have 8 plus ones that had the PC/MAC will still have 16 slots there. If you think about it it's a pretty good deal.
