Can Console and PC users not play together?

Friend today informed me that console players will not be able to play with PC users. If this is true it's pretty dumb.

I hope the developers re-think this decision.

This decision occurred in 2013 and I doubt it will change
Also the consul players don't play together either the console is separate from the other

DCUO is in the process of amalgamating the PC and PS communities. FF online games are all cross -platform. This lame excuse from developers that the "infrastructure" or whatever might be the excuse-of-the-day hinders cross platforming is becoming increasingly transparent. It can be done, and successfully. If anything it increases revenue and keeps the community alive rather than fracturing it.

I wouldn't be surprised if they merged the servers in a year or so and made it cross platform. A loss of revenue could do just that.

Aside from the fact this is mostly due to PS+/ XBL policies it would also cause a significant amount of over-crowding/ lag.

I'd think console players would be at a disadvantage competing against a M&KB.

I think many would like it but ZOS has a lot of work on all three platforms before it's even a possibility.
Same content on all three but the way the game is played differs so much.

It would be cool to see in the future tho or at least optional servers

Don't blame PSN, they've done plenty of cross platform multiplayer in the recent past. It was apparently MS that nixed the deal, and it's them who consistently refuse to let Live players mix with other platforms on this and several other titles. It's just part-and-parcel of the whole anti-consumer/anti-gamer Xbox attitude in recent years that led me to forgo the Xbox One after long dedication to the original Xbox and the 360, and instead go with the PS4 this generation.

It's actually really simple. If ZOS would have decided not to launch on x-box but on ps4 and PC only, we could and likely would be playing on 1 single server.

    Blame MS, not ZOS

Correct on this one. MS/Xbox area the reason that cross play got nixed. Sony was fine with it

One issue with this happening is that I imagine it would require them to shut down addon construction. Without the option of using addons, I can see the console players being at a fairly decent disadvantage to PC players. While it would be nice for the consoles and the PC players to be in the same server, I don't know that it's possible at this point in the game.

Are there any other games that have cross platform gaming like this ?
Foräois - Imperial Sorcerer of Ineptitude.
Widoch - Nord Dragon Knight of Ignorance.
Billy Bob - Dunmer Templar of Chicken and Noodles.

Ha... no. In fact, I play with a controller myself. Actually, a controller in the left hand and an 18 button mouse in the right. I normally use Xpadder for every game I play. However, after adopting the use of the mouse, from getting my feet wet in my first FPS, Planetside2, I can testify first hand that there is a difference.

I argued for years that a controller was just as viable and still support that to an extent.

If you can map the right mouse button to the left analog toggled on, you can mouse turn just about as fast as a mouse turner. Toggled off puts you in strafe mode.

Did we forget about the megaserver technology, and how having all PC players, PS4 players, and XBOX One players on one NA server would be insane and impossible? No? ok. Its true their policy doesnt allow cross platform, but thats not the excuse for this particular issue.
  • ScratchMatch
Honestly, I really like the way how Zenimax split PC Users and Xbox, PS4 users because if new players play on PC, they would get confused when Console players tell them what to do.

We have groups of 15 EP players people that can exploit the game and Lag the s(*) out of the whole server in cyrodiil, and you want to throw in MORE people?

    ....Sure.

what is dumb is that internet posters with zero business experience think that this is the fault of the game publisher.

the last game to allow cross platform play was final fantasy XI. you can do your own googling after that.

The Problem was the ABO + PSN ABO / XBOX ABO.
If it would be crossplattform the Servers would run on the same serverfarm as pc, sony or ms would not get mony for there online Service. That also the Point of teso tu, sony nor ms would let Players Play teso for free if they just Play this one game, and who would buy 2 Abos for playing 1 game? it would be 30$/30E

Not going have been ZOS decision, blame Sony and Microsoft. Also it would probably turn into a balance/build nightmare to make them work together on the same servers.

Well I'm anti-addon anyway. So that would be like a bonus for me if they were to get rid of addon construction to accommodate console users.

FF 14 allows cross platform gaming. I have several friends on that game I play with who use a console.

It's just very disappointing. Some of my friends who were thinking about playing ESO have decided not to now since we wouldn't be able to play together anyway.

Final Fatnasy 14 allows cross platform play. So no: FF XI was not the last one to do it.

I should tell you what you can go google... but I will play nice. Even though you don't really deserve it.

Then maybe they should have just told Microsoft to *** off and just released for the PS4.

That would be one way to convince Microsoft to stop being so selfish. If companies stopped doing business with them until they changed their policy.

It would be better to keep them apart. This way you get 16 characters on PC/MAC. 8 on NA 8 on EU. So on console you will have 8 plus ones that had the PC/MAC will still have 16 slots there. If you think about it it's a pretty good deal.

The only reason that I want to play the game in console and will do is that there will only be console players.

    1) There are no bots in consoles..Zero.

    2) Everyone have the same hardware. You don't play with a 2 button mouse while others play with a razer Naga.

I think allowing as many people as possible to play with their friends (since it's an online multiplayer game) is a lot more important than more character slots.

As I pointed out in some of my earlier posts: I know several people right now who won't be playing Elder Scrolls Online because of this.
