Interesting, one encouraging point and one WTH??

1) Text Chat wheel confirmed for console as something they are getting in for release. This I guess is good news given it's better than nothing(no text chat). Yay and thanks!

2) We won't have our character names displayed on screen in console? We will all be represented by our one Gamertag regardless of character?? WoW...seriously. Did I miss something, can someone check if Diablo 3 does this on console...only game I can think of right now where I created numerous RPG character names on console...just haven't played Reaper in some time. Destiny didn't let us create character names at all. Does FF do this on PS4?

1) True.

2) Not true. Your UserID will be your Xbox Live/PSN ID, your character name can still be anything you want. So when people are voice chatting with you or adding you as a friend they'll use and see your UserID while if you're looking at their character you'll see their character name, and vice versa. I can confirm this as I played the PS4 beta.

2) ZOS have said it's like this because that's how consoles .. aka. social media platforms where you can play games while chatting .. are expected to work by the social media users who generally use them.

Chat wheel is kind of like a pop up of most common things said. "want to group?" "thanks" "want to trade.?" etc. According to the ESO live thing I saw. they said it would then appear as a chat bubble above your head.

This is the first Ive heard of consoles being called Social Media Platforms. Please, where was this said using those phrases?

Then ZOS again has communicated inaccurate information? Man...just feels like a bag of surprises coming on console.

The second point is a no brainer. On PS4 we are known by our PSN name. Thats what shows up in your friends list, and thats what people see you as in multiplayer games. (Destiny, Diablo 3)

Not saying I like it, but it does make things a bit more organized. This also may not be a ZoS decision. It might be what Sony requires.
