Why would there be "additional toubleshooting measures" to try?

You are still projecting a sense that the problem is mine.

    It isn't, its yours.

    All The Best

No it really is your problem, cause you are having issues. It will only be making it their problem IF it would mean they loose a customer. As for who is responsable for solving it...
If something is on the server-end, it is clear that it would be ZoS. It would also mean that everyone would be suffering and they have plenty of examples.
In this case it is client-based or a combination between the two (e.g. something blocking it on the line between server-client). To pin point they need info from both sides of the lines. That means they might want to have info from you or want you to try stuff.

So if you want this to be solved, you should make a ticket.
If you want to give ZoS the boot, just install and quit the game.

(and no there is no judgement here bout you, either way you choose, it is totally up to you which way you choose)

Meanwhile, in New Eden, patching some 960 MBs of EVE Online on the same machine did work out. Wonder what the heck this is all about...

I've patched Neverwinter and Rift (including the Glyph launcher) so far today.

All of them worked just fine.

I have managed to get it simply by pause/resuming repeatedly every time the error appeared for several hours while I did other things around the house.

I would classify that as a workaround rather than a solution :)

If you buy a new car and it doesn't work do you think it acceptable for the manufacturer to ask you to strip the cam-shaft, realign the timing chain, put it all back together and try again?

Or would you expect them to fix the problem they created.

I was playing this game at 1:30am local time this morning, every thing worked just fine.

I switch off my PC, go to bed, get up 8 hours later and try to patch the game and nothing works.

In those 8 hours absolutely NOTHING changed on my PC.

But now the fact that nothing works is suddenly my problem?

Yip all was working fine for me until this update. Nothings changed my end. So I'm inclined to think the problem isn't my end.

Yes the problem isn't widespread but I'm imagining that most people are in the same boat where they've not changed nothing their end either.

So there's got to be an issue in there that doesn't effect everyone. Tough to troubleshoot but needs sorting. Thankfully I jibbed the sub so will just happily just play something else in the meantime.

I would suggest that such updates are handled across a number of servers with users being spread across them. I would guess that one or more of these servers (possibly authentication) and/or their network connections are experiencing issues, hence through no fault or action of the users, the downloads are experiencing repeated failures leaving a cross-section of frustrated players.

Some people would rather apportion blame to the players than add anything constructive - trolling, I believe is the correct term.

It gets even funnier. After following some steps of a troubleshooting list I deleted the Launcher folder and started to download again via my account page, apparently to be able to hit "Repair" once more. So the troubleshooting thing said.

But now I don't even get this far, since the new launcher.exe has been "updating" stuff for like half an hour or so, with a progression bar as fast as a lame garden snail; and I don't even get to "repair" things just to be able to patch and play this stupid game.

What worries me more is the appearance of an "uninstall" folder right in my ESO directory.

ZOS you owe me a bottle of Jack for this.

Well, after 7 hours of hitting pause and resume with speeds between 5-20KB/s before dropping out, it's suddenly started downloading at over 200KB/s and updated. Looks like they fixed the problem at their end - and I know it wasn't at my end because I didn't make any changes.

Honestly, I appreciate crud happens, and I can live with it and even be sympathetic. What gets my goat is the way they don't just come out and say 'there's a problem for some users, we're sorry, we're working on it'. I'll take an honest we haven't got a clue than a generic and repeated fobbing off by saying it's at our end.

Anyway, that gripe aside, thanks for fixing it, whoever you are!

    Greetings all,

Thanks for letting us know it's improved for you @Redcognito ! Has this error resolved for any other players at this time?

For those who still have this error, is it on the NA client? Or is it only on the EU client?

Thank you again for your patience!

I've just restarted the launcher after giving up in frustration over an hour ago.

It has DL'd and installed the patch, but is now giving the constant "Error 209 - PatchManifestError_VersionFail" message.

I'll close the launcher and try launching the game via the ESO.exe rather than the Launcher.

    Hey Molly,
got a mail from German CS pretty fast. Deleting and reinstalling the launcher did the trick, although the launcher did take extremely long to update. Did you release a new launcher version along with 2.0.8.?

And thanks for following up on our "short story" here ;)

This is not a car. It is software. The game is interacting with everything within your pc (both software and hardware). You claim nothing else changed?? Do you have automatic updates disabled?? driver updates?? software updates?? you let ESO update automaticly and not manual. So you allow others to change things all the time.

Did the update cause this? Yes! or atleast partly. But it can be that it is cause since the last update something changed for you. That was two weeks ago and not 8 hours. If they screwed something up for everyone, then everyone is suffering. In this case it is a limited group of people. Important for ZoS to solve it is to find out what differs you and all others suffering from e.g. me (and all the people I met in game). That difference can only be found at your side. I'm not saying the issue is at your side, but identification is impossible without your help and without you (and everyone with the issue) submitting a ticket and helping them gather information what makes you different from the majority of people that are lucky and don't have this issue.

Yes it is your problem. You can't play and you are clearly upset by it. It doesn't mean that you have to fix it, but you need to assist if you want it to be solved.

some years ago I worked customer support. It was the early years of smarthpones. An elderly lady called me and I give you a transcript (shortened.

Me: Hi, how can I help you?
    Customer: My blackberry isn't working!
Me: thats not good. What type of blackberry do you have?
customer: I don't know it is a blue one and it isn't working. you have to fix it!
Me: I'm trying my best. We have no data on general service disruptions. Can you describe what exaclty isn't working?
customer (agrigated): I DONT CARE YOU NEED TO FIX THIS NOW!!
Me: I'm trying my best, but I really need to have some info bout this issue!
    Customer: YOU *********; *****;*********
Me: I'm really sorry, I'm not able to help you without you answering my questions. please call again when you want to answer them and cooperate for a solution.

This is an illustration of what you are doing as well.
This ended with a not on the customers file that she was to be transferred to me. My collegues did that and after a few days I convinced her to give me some more details. It turned out only the email function wasn't working cause she changed the password of her email account. After assisting her in changing the password the issue was solved in 5 minutes after she cooperated.

If she insisted to not give any info I would be unable to help her at all and she had no chance to get a fix. That is you at this moment. Just make the ticket, assist them by asnwering the questions and I'm sure you get a solution...if not...well keep complaining all you want, but nothing will change!

To me it sounded like it was a server overload or similar, at least something from the ZoS side. It seems to be fixed now so you can download the patch.

If you get the patchmanifest error 209 or 210, better is just to ignore it and relaunch until it works, ev start the client from the client folder.

    Enjoy! :)

You know what they say about assumption.

Nothing on my PC ever updates without my express permission.

    EVER!

All updates are set to inform me when they are available, but do nothing until I give permission.

I do claim nothing changed, because nothing changed.

I was playing the game 2 minutes before I switched my PC off, and within 5 mins of switching the PC one I was getting error messages from the Launcher and NOTHING had changed because I had allowed no such changes.

And I know now the problem definitively wasn't my end because it is fixed now and again NOTHING CHANGED.

I have been playing games and updating software long enough to know when a problem is my end thank you.

I am so glad I am not the only one having this problem. I did all the troubleshooting, which didnt work for a while but then magically started working, and then updated the game (which took 12+hours) and hit play, at which point fatal error 12 popped up (i had just reinstalled the game, understandable) BUT when i went to repair, after verifying, the webget error reared its ugly head- even after I had done all the troubleshooting...again. Hopefully Zeni will notice this. I sent a ticket already, but my webget error seems to be unique, based on the past ticket responses doing nothing. I was planning to switch to xbox one but i forgot to get the game before may 9, so i am stuck on pc.

    Hey guys,

I had this problem and just managed to get round it. It was to do with my internet provider and my router. I am with Virgin Media, apparently their new firmware update clashes with the ESO update launcher and so you end up with the "web get request failed".... I had it for ages...

Long story short. Turn your router to modem mode and it should work. Mine did and I have been happily playing it since. I hope this at least works for some of you!! If not then I hope they can help you get round it.

    Cheers!
