PS4 potential player

Hello all :) I would like to play the game on my PS4 because nothing beats gaming on a couch :) Add to this "zero bots" and everyone have the same hardware and controller and I am sold. Although I do have 2 concerns that may be deal breakers..

1) How are the graphics compared to the pc version? I heard that ps4 hardware is not that good compared to a mediocre pc and that usually developers tone down graphics on consoles to leave room for improvements in the future..So how are the graphics? I care a lot for graphics and especially how my character look :)

2) I am not sure if the controller will be comfortable for me to play...I am new ps4 player, although I play Destiny and have no problem so far, I am getting used to it and enjoying it...but ESO has much more abilities to use than just Zoom and Shoot..So is there any 1-2 days trial? At least give the people who bought the game on pc a code to redeem for a 1-3 days trial. This will not harm Zenimax but instead will create potential customers.

Now a very minor concern that is not deal breaker :)

-Since there will be no addons in ps4, is it possible for Zenimax to integrate some popular addons into the console game to make it easier find Skyshards and points of interest?

I think your best bet is to watch youtube videos of people who were in the beta, of course the game wasn't completed, but should answer a few of your questions.

As for controllers I HEARD (I wasn't in beta) that it was actually pretty good, some youtube videos show you the set up. As well, from the twitch streams I saw, the graphics were pretty good (remember what you see on stream is always a bit lower quality than it really is to the person playing). I do know they added some functionality of loot drop (add-on) so you can see what you pick up with auto-loot, although I didn't notice any other add-ons added.

I know Deltia and CrazMadSci from twitch both were in beta. I bet they both have youtube vids up (I know Deltia does)

Thanks a lot :) Yeap I know to not judge graphics base on youtube videos or streams...I think a trial version, at least for those that have the game already on pc would be nice.

I read so far is that people already farm gold on pc to take them over to the console and that the deadline for account transfer was on May 9th :( So isn't possible now to transfer my account on console? Not that I have anything valuable but I would just had a reason to play now on pc while waiting for the console release :)

    Hey there Earelith!

1.) We recently presented a demo of the PS4 beta on ESO Live. Here's a link to where the console footage starts. It is beta footage, so there are some bugs that are being worked out, but it should give you a good general idea of how it will look.

2.) Currently we don't have plans for a trial or demo of the game, but if that changes, we'll be sure to let everyone know. Vlad and Gary (not me) in the ESO live presentation linked above go over the controls of the game in detail, and the controller layout is presented around 1:00:13.

    Hope that helps!

I believe Deltia said the graphics were comparable to a mid-level gaming rig running at 1080p.

    1. Graphics are around the High setting on the consoles. They're not Ultra quality but they look good, and more importantly, the game held up pretty well in the 30v30 fights I got into in Cyrodiil. Youtube videos are a good reference, but usually there is quality lost in the recording and rendering process. Some people have taken comparative screenshots and you can see the difference between High and Ultra. For the people who aren't staring at the cracks in a stone wall or looking at the individual blades of grass, the difference won't be very noticeable.

    2. I play Destiny too, and the controller feels just as good in both games. You have more abilities in ESO, but in Destiny you have things on the same buttons (reload = ability 1, change weapon = ability 2, crouch = ability 3, etc). So you'll find yourself pressing the same buttons that you press in Destiny, with a couple additions. Playing with the controller felt really natural. There hasn't been anything said about a trial though.

    3. The UI is completely different. They added a couple things like loot drop, but not Skyshards and POIs. The way I look at it is that those are discoverable parts of the game that they want you to explore. Think of it like a game you bought 15-20 years ago. If you wanted to see where that stuff is, you would go buy a strategy guide. The internet has obviously made this a less expensive and easier process, but the intent is still there in a lot of games.

@ZOS_GaryA Thanks for the link I am going to check that now :)

@Pallmor My pc is a icore 5 2500k, ATI GPU 6950 2gb and 8gb DDR3 ram. Is this considered a mid-level gaming rig? If ps4 graphics are like on my PC then I am fine :)

Yes, that would be considered a low to mid level gaming rig. You should be fine as far as the graphics are concerned.

    I would call that a mid-level machine.

@Nerio I was watching the video that posted above right now and up until it shows the control settings..it seems very easy indeed. I can certainly use L2+X while moving with my thumb as easy as a pc double tap... As for the skyshards part, now that I am thinking of it it will be better..

it will definitely reward exploration like old RPG games..sure you can have a map open on a pc next to you but most people will not (I don't as I think it will break immersion a lot and will make it more like a job than a game).

@jkemmery Thats nice, so I guess I am set with the graphics :) I ve also read that since developers create their game having in mind a very specific hardware (ps4 graphics card) then they can fully optimize the game using 100% of the card capabilities while in PC developers have to create the game to work on xxxxx different graphic cards..

so maybe in the future, Zenimax can improve the graphics via a patch or expansion :) Also since my pC is on low-mid level I cannot imagine how ESO looks on high end pc!

Unfortunately at this time there is no way to now have your account copied to console. You had to have activated the game before June(or July, one of the two) 30th, PLUS you have to purchase the copy between April 9 - May 9. They sent out emails to everyone who was eligible. Hopefully they decide to do a free trial or something so you can check it out!

I play on pc with medium settings and when I was in the beta I was blown away at how much better it looked. The controls work well except for the weapon swap being the left key on the d-pad. So makes it a bit hard because you need to remove your thumb from the stick to press the swap. Other than that it felt smooth.

See my vids in the link in my signature. These are in 720p as the Xbox one downgrades quality drastically on DVR clips but the actually quality is that of 1080p on High settings on PC and low particle and low water reflection. All others are high and not very high

consoles are usually inferior to the PC. And you have to pay extra to play on console - remember Gold Live and PS+ subs? I am not even talking about chat on console and crazy controls :) So, if you are Ok playing on PC - stick to it. It is just not worth it.

I'm running an i7 3770k, GTX 670 4GB, 8GB ram, and Samsung 840 Pro SSD -- I always call mine an low-mid level gaming rig based on what I've seen on the market...

Well I don't consider the ps+ as an additional cost since I already pay this for other reasons..(free games, discounts and offers, e.t.c.). Well my pc is also inferior to most of the other players :) and as I said nothing beats couch gaming!!

Ps+ gives us heaps of free games each month
    Discounts on games
And nothing beats couch gaming especially when you have the ultimate lazy boy
