I guess it affects damage of meteor from valkyn for instance that could have been magicka damage before and now depends on your highest stat (stamina or magicka). But it's just a guess if anyone could confirm, would be great.

Highest stats? Meaning.....Magicka, Health, Stamina stats? Or weapon/Spell Power Stat? Or Crit.....or Armor stat....SR?

They definitely need to clarify. This either means all sets are available to all builds (Stamina set is not long just a stamina set, etc) or it appears to have no meaning at all?

If they did a blanket 'fix' for all sets based on your stats, I shudder to think of the (miscoded) results.

Well, if they work like Ultimates, then they scale of Health/Magic/Stamina. I'd assume it means any set that deals damage, or returns healing as one of it's bonuses, like the 2 piece Undaunted sets, for example.

I am assuming this means the numbers in the set bonuses scale off your highest stats? Or maybe only the "unique" bonus? I feel like maybe a BIT more explanation would help.

@ZOS_GinaBruno Do you mind helping with clarification?

I just checked my equipment, and although I hadn't memorized the exact numbers on the stats, I'm pretty sure they didn't change.

I checked Way of the Air, Hundings, and Shadow Walker and none of them changed.

    Gina explained it:

"To expand on this a bit, item sets that cause damage or healing will now calculate their critical strike chance based on either your highest spell or weapon damage (whichever is higher). The actual damage done is based on the item set level, and the critical strike is based on whatever your highest critical strike stat is."

Literally just posted a reply in a different thread, but will copy/paste over here as well for extra visiblity:

None of those sets bestow bonuses that deal damage, or return healing ... the regular bonuses to stats, regen, weapon or spell damage, etc. are what they are, they aren't modified by any of your stats, just the item's level and quality.

edit - well the Shadow Walker 5 piece bonus does return health and stamina, will have to check if those numbers have changed for me :)

Yep, I saw this in the Patch Notes and thought, what the heck does this mean?

Does this mean that a weapon damage boost now scales from Magic on a magic focused character with Hundings Rage or Ashen Grip? I doubt it, but reading this description it could very well mean that.

@KenCleanAirSystem , @MisterJimothy , I can think of no sets offhand that rely directly on base stats at all. Unless they are no longer restricting Magicka/Stamina sets to be Magicka/Stamina and Weapon Damage/Spell Damage and Criticals accordingly.

The only other alternative that makes some potential sense would involve the set being more powerful the higher your base stat is?

If this is the case, I see it leading to even worse situations than the first possibility.

They need to clear this up and not leave us to contemplate what it may or may not mean.

So Crit is the only thing that is affected? Is that the way you are reading this?

In most builds, you're probably already geared with your max stat (and thus the associated Crit) in mind, so this likely changes nothing at all?

Um, let's pretend I am like 5 years old and don't understand any of this....

    Could we get something like..

"Your booms go bigger now cause you have higher Magika/Stamina etc."

Something. I dunno. If the age is too hard to pretend let's just pretend like I haven't stopped drinking since late last night. Er, this morning. Um. Well I haven't really stopped, so....

@Merlin13KAGL , Gina explained above, and now it makes more sense. I feel like the patch note text made perfect sense to them because they had the context, but was completely lost on us.

Well, Shadow Walker 5-piece bonus didn't change at all.

Then again, it was on a stamina build before and now as well. Something tells me this will not affect anyone because you'd have to be an idiot to use Shadow Walker with a Magicka build, etc.

Makes you wonder why the don't just consolidate the Crit value into one.

I dunno. Every time I walk into one of these discussions I feel like I stepped onto another planet where everyone speaks math. I am a NB and use stamina and magika. I never PVP. I solo 99% of the time. I am not saying all of YOU are wrong - just stating that I usually play - alone. I dunno if any of this is really going to affect me at all. But then again, I don't pretend to be the best there is. I don't have to beat any other player etc. - I just have to be able to survive any PVE fight I get into. And I do. Usually.
