I just like to start out by saying I really appreciate and stand by all the true Elder Scrolls fans and veterans, keep up the good work by supporting and enjoying this wonderful franchise! When I first beta tested back in July 2013 for ESO I remember one of the first questions that was asked that put a smile to my face was “am I an Elder Scrolls player” or an MMO player, so of course since I am an Elder Scrolls fan and veteran and I don’t like mmos and will never be a mmo player so the choice was natural for me to pick that I am an Elder Scrolls player. ESO is an OWORPG not an mmo, That also meant there are 2 sides 2 voices in one community to help out and shape this game in the future.
Well I did foresee problems with that as mmo players want to always change things that are not going to be right in the Elder Scrolls world, but granted this is the first time that 2 different player bases are brought together with hopes that this game would appeal to both audiences. I kind of view it like the Argonians are now forced to deal with the dark elves and hoping they will somehow agree and lets all get along, when that’s actually a real problem cus you can’t expect a forced one sided decision to work for both. So what started out as a 2 sided 2 voice thing to help shape this game is now turned into a 1 sided mostly mmo player community barking changes for both the consoles and pc.
While I am one of the few Elder Scrolls vets that can’t just ignore the demands these mmo players are wanting to have implemented, anything from minimap to auction houses to text chat window on consoles to flying mounts to whatever else was is in the mmo games they have either liked or hated since playing ESO. What I am saying is I would like to go away from the forums for a long time while im playing eso on my xbox but I don’t want to find out the changes the mmo players have been kicking and screaming to have changed and added that not only will ruin the experience for us Elder Scrolls players and knowing that my voice and other ES players voices would go unheard cus mmo players seem like its either they get their way or threaten to leave this game behind and say how it will fail if they don’t hear and see what they want and when they want it..
Yes this is an online game and yes this game gives all of us freedom to play as we feel, alone or with people, but I do feel if the devs are only listening to the mmo players and not enough of the ES players then yes this game will eventually be non-playable for the traditional ES players... I know that most of the Elder Scrolls fans don’t want to see this game dissolve and yes even if it did we still have other Elder Scrolls games to enjoy without mmo players trying to change and or destroy stuff, cus they can’t. If mmo players want to change stuff and play the way they want with the existing features then it makes sense for them to stick with the pc version, let us Elder Scrolls players have the console version atleast, cus I never thought in a million years the mmo players would try to change the console version.. I guess I was wrong…
I have been in heated debates and yes I don’t change my mind and yes I have been silenced by the forum police and yes I’m sure I will be permanently banned at some point, not like it matters cus my voice is what I call the silent majority and in a sea of mmo players the value of my voice is like the value of monopoly money trying to buy Elder Scrolls stuff…. With the new code of conduct anti first amendment policy they only pick out what they deem is wrong and the rest of what I write is null and void…
Anyhow I will leave another little note for the Elder Scrolls players and mmo players: ES players let your voice always be heard and stand by it and continue to enjoy what you can of this great game! For the mmo players I wish you all individually 300 days of continued high quality of rollbacks while you play!!!!! Cheers!!!
