Would you like to be able to save your armour as a costume?

I am level 30. In about 6 more levels, any new armour I get will have a new look. Now, I really like the way my character looks right now. I think it would be great if you could take a snapshot of the way your character looks - and use this as a costume when you upgrade your armour. There could me maybe one or two costume slots to add this customised costume to. What do you think?

    Absolutely, that sounds fantastic.

Sadly, considering how much coding and testing it would require paired with its low priority when compared to adding more areas and the like, I'm pretty sure this will never happen.

Something else I'd like, can't remember the name, but I have a toggle skill that I always have on and it replaces whatever I'm wearing with a suit of armour.

Which means when in pvp for example, I always look exactly the same, can't even show off my wedding dress.

I wish we had an option to use the skill but still show our costume

I've thought about this a few times. It would be nice to see some of the gear set ups I've used as a costume. I do believe I've seen it in other games. DCUO does something like this. With each piece of gear there's a style trait saved to your sheet. You can just mix and match styles regardless of the gear level you're actually wearing.

One of the things that really frustrates me about ESO is how some of the best looking gear (to my eyes) is the low and mid level sets, which you rapidly outgrow and then can never get that appearance for your character again.

It doesn't have to be implemented as a costume or wardrobe system. All they need to do is give us the ability when crafting to give an item the style of something else we are able to craft.

For example, let's say I have a character who needs to wear orichalcum armour, but I prefer the look of iron armour. I should be able to craft my orichalcum armour to have the appearance of iron. This way it would still be constained by the motifs my character knows (thus not devalueing the motif system) but I am able to choose the appearance from the list of styles I know how to craft.

Abso-freaking-lutely. There are many cases in which I prefer the look of the lower level armour to that of the higher (in a lot of cases the lower level stuff looks more realistic), but I'd really be tying one hand behind my back if I kept using the lower level stuff.

Cosmetic modding. Zeni has proven to me that any armor or costume they put out will look like utter carp. Flat, spraypainted on furs and bones/teeth....a completely useless groin flap, hip flanges that look godawful.....no.
Combine that with the utterly horrid "costumes" they are charging money for....ick.

I'd much rather see them open up the game for cosmetic armor and weaponry modding. Far more talented people out in the modding community than those currently working at Zeni, at least in my opinion.

It's odd, because I find the actual /environment/ stunning. Architecture and buildings and flora/fauna are spectacular. Why do armors and weapons look so......shoddy?
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

i wish they would just add a friggan cosmetic slot and restrict it to heavy covers heavy light over light etc. if they had to make it a crown thing like a time thing it would give us something to blow crowns on like 500 crowns = 30 days of cosmetic slot use
or maybe if they want a more perma-route can make each slot you buy cost like 250 crowns once bought you can put item in that slot for costume and it would be dyeable.

or offer all armors as costumes and dyeable.

i'd love to see bound armor costume also like put a costume to conjure up during bound armor

I do love this idea, and actually don't see why it should be limited to just one or two; would be a nice way to chronicle the life of your character, without just taking static screenshots.

I voted for more motifs just because I think the more styles the better, but would have voted yes to the OP, more costumes, AND something else entirely (like new zones to wear them in), if it had been an option. An "almost all of the above."

Zeni, you gonna make bank with the consoles, hire some more folks please.

I would prefer it if they expanded it and cut out the need for useless buggy addons. Cosmetics/Costumes I don't really give a rats arse about but functionality is paramount.

    As an example.

Put a tooltip within the weapon/armour / inventory screen (tabbed like the chat window)
+ Save Set Configuration (Choose Name in Settings like Chat Tabs, i.e. PvP/DPS, PvP/Healer)
+ Add New Set (Marked with a +)
+ Big icon at the bottom of it with the words "Switch To" - Click it and you equip that Saved Set. Icon is greyed out if you drop any of the items out of your inventory that make up the set, or warning notice pop up to say Items missing.

This would allow for fast switching of armour sets, no faffing around with buggy addons that do that (and sometimes forget to equip pieces). This will save a ton of time with manually doing everything.

Obviously this would need to be balanced - i.e. Cooldown timer between switching sets (Esp in PvP)

    Yep, absolutely.

It still fathoms me how some MMORPG's (And others genres) developers in this day and age can't trully understand this basic concept that people want their characters to be unique. LOTRO, Aion, TERA (Before it got too greedy and actually removed the feature LOL), to name a few, were all MMO's I played in the past that allowed such modifications and I and the population made extensive use of it.

I used to spent hours upon hours (and millions/thousands of money/gold) just messing around with all the armor types trying to find one that fits my character. There was even an economy around such stuff where people would go try to drop certain armors/weapons not because they were actually good but because they looked unique. And there was people paying serious money for it.

Although I did "kinda" got to where I wanted with my vamp Wood Elf not only were my overall options limited (my build is only based around medium armor, and I wanted the breton light helmet and maybe some heavy armor here and there), I'm actually in a disadvantageous position because I should be using another PvE-boss shoulders/helmets for "maximium efficiency". However not only it looks bad as it is but it also completely breaks the look that I'm going for my character.

Here's the best I could get frankenstein'ing a bunch of armor types together. Nonetheless I certainly wish I had more options to play with without also having to sacrifice performance.

LotRO does this in its cosmetics system by allowing you a set of gear you are wearing for the stats and bonuses, and another set you wear just for appearances.

SWTOR has, I believe, just introduced something similar (I have seen it, but not played with it yet).

If they gave us, say, 2 costume sets for free then added extra slots to the Store they'd have another easy revenue stream.

LotRO also has a "shared wardrobe" where you can store items for all your toons to share cosmetically. Again it starts off with a limited number of slots and further slots can be added by the store.

If players are going to spend hours and hours looking at their toon in an MMORPG they want the ability to have it look how they want it to look; and in most cases are more than willing to spend in an in-game store to do so.

Of all the money / TP I have spent in the LotRO store 90% of it has been on bank space, wardrobe space and cosmetics.

theres really no point to this because you unlock costumes every few veteran ranks, and finishing certain storyline quest.. on top of that they have costumes in the crown mall why would anyone want to save their regular armor as a costume?

I have suggested this as a crown store consumable.

When you activate it, you create a costume with the appearance of what you currently wear.

I would easily pay 1k crowns for such a consumable item.

Well lets say you have a set of gear you like the look of, maybe a Hvy chest piece, Med legs and the rest Light armour.

But you actually wear all Light, or all Hvy.

The outward appearance of what you are wearing could be different to what you are actually wearing.

In LotRO my LM (can only wear light armour) has three pieces of Med armour cosmetically equipped to make him look like a bit like a hermit / woodsman.
