What has scared, shocked, creeped you out, or surprised you the most inside ESO? I'll try not to give away too many plot points, but please use the "spoiler" tag if you want to go into detail.

Voted other, because a lot of those are really good.

For every happy quest ending , or person you save. there is often a situation where bad stuff has happened... reaaallly bad stuff.

Playing a a pretty much good guy. Having some real evil around does help. just saying "X are bad guys" is different than really feeling it when looking through their huts or reading their journals.

Crocodiles did scare me the first time though.

While taking a keep during PvP, I go into the shield charge motion and get stuck for 5 minutes because of lag

Ever been walking about Glenumbra at night during an in-game thunderstorm? First time it happened to me, I never heard thunder in the game.... I jumped out of my seat on the first crash xD

The hagraven event in the Rift (part of the main story)

That Hagraven event is one of the most disgusting things I've seen so far in the game. Well, besides of how bandits and the like treated corpses (on a post, on a cart, etc.), I could vomit everytime I see that somewhere and try to look the other way, knowing it's still there, like back in Skyrim already. And the poor Soulshriven in the atrocious environment of Coldharbour, especially the ones you see during the main quest...

Another but different thing was a huuuuge spider in one of the Craglorn dungeons which name I forgot atm, every move of it made it even more disgusting than it was before. When we've done this dungeon (a group of 4), a bug occured. First we died, still normal so far. Then we moved away from the endboss room, while I still was closer to it than the other group members. Then out of nowhere I saw I was back in combat mode, the spiders started running out of the room and went all through the dungeon without seeing me, but killed at least one of the others, then ran back and combat was over. This happened twice, as far as I remember, and made it even more disgusting^^ But we could make it in the end, our tank which thought of himself as a bad one turned out to be a great one, and he was only VR4 or 5 back then

There were some more things like these, but I can't remember what exactly at the moment

End boss of Elden Hollow normal mode

but that boss in EH scared the living *** out of me the first time. i was all up close and my volume was a bit high

I loved the effect of the shadows on the last boss of EH. One of my favorite moments

But you do have a lot of good choices.

One of the scariest moments I've had was running into Sypher in PvP. I think he was emp at the time... (Could be wrong) I was out looking for small scale fights with someone from legend who was warning me of the danger. Fun times ensued...

Jumping over a cliff and realizing its farther than you realized

IRL I'm not really afraid of heights per se, but heights do tend to give me a sinking "oh crap I'm about to die" feeling in the pit of my stomach. Hmm, maybe that does mean that I'm afraid of heights (doesn't stop me from going to the edge of cliffs, or anything though).

Anyway, when I go off an edge in ESO and it's a longer drop than I thought I get that same feeling...

"We are going B2P and releasing the game on consoles." Those were the scariest moments in ESO for me. Oh and maybe the whole, "we can't fix PvP lag, it's your fault for playing as a group" thread response. That *** was scary!

I voted nothing, ESO doesn't really strike me as a 'scary" game.

other: running around the map, seeing a nice saw-wheel icon that needed to be discovered, finding nothing there, till suddenly I'm ambushed by mothpriests and a anchor falls on my head (I didn't have a clue what dolmen where back then)

Zeni lying and stonewalling about PvP scares me, as I I know it is never gonna get better, lol most games get better a year in, not worse.

But great work on everything else, graphics, music, etc

I doubt its genuine fear, more of an imagination running rampant during said zones and instances people are discussing. As in my Spindel example, its not Actually scary when I play. I don't jump or go EEK! It's more of my imagination combined with the music, the spiders, the voice overs etc. All of those combine into me playing a bit of pretend and immersing myself into the situation, not just the game mechanics etc. I would wager this is more of what people are referring to when they say a specific portion is frightening.

I've started being a bit creeped out by those bugs that are always by the water, the ones usually in AD zones. Not the thunderbugs, but those bloodsucker ones.

There's something really creepy about how large monstrous spider like they are, combined with how sneaky their blood sucking animation is where they are right next to you. There's no obvious noise, but your health goes down, and you're like, what? Why? Then you see them standing nearby, and you realize they are draining you away, and you didn't even realize. You thought they were just some trash mob, and here they are, dozens of them, insects all over you, blood being ripped right out of your skin, killing you.

Shivers.

Hoarvors? Yeah, they are kinda creepy. I remember when I first got to Grahtwood on my first AD character, they really messed me up on the way through that swamp from the site where you land to get to Haven. First time I'd ever encountered them and I didn't realize how their blood sucking worked... I think I might have actually died in that swamp (and even back then I pretty much never died outside of boss fights).

Also, how about that dungeon in Malabal Tor where they're all feeding on an imprisoned Ogrim? Creepy.

Stranglers hidden just near the edges of walls, etc in CH.

Walk along without seeing them (they have the same blue hue as everything else in CH) with the volume cranked and have one pop up dead in front of you.

More than once I've about come out of my skin.

Well it's more the creepies than terrifying, but there are a few little things that give me the eewwies

1-The sound that Assassin bugs make when they die and they are still spewing poison

2-That last shriek-and-leg-wiggle when a spider dies

3-Bloodthorne zombies throwing up

4-A zombie that's been stunned just 'flipping back upright'

the horrendous lag and utter lack of balance is terrifying.
