In the UserSettings.txt file located in Documents >> Elder Scrolls Online >> Liveeu
change the following line:

Go to the options screen in-game. There's a toggle for turning the orb off, IIRC it is in the 'gameplay options'.

Thanks! I had no idea. Just a month ago I was reading through the forums trying to turn it off.

Once you change the setting then you are in problems. Now the magelight will always appear and you can no longer make it go away with multiple castings.

Also it doesn't help to use the command line the op posted. It only removes the magelight for like 3 seconds and then it appears.

With the "Do not show magelight" setting, I've noticed that you need to cast it away from keeps, outposts and spawn areas in order for it to just make you all glowy inside instead of going disco. I wait until I'm out the front door of a keep and usually have no problems. This is for inner light.

It could be due to a longstanding bug.

If you have radiant magelight that is less than level 4, and come near a player whose radiant magelight is higher level than yours, it bugs your own magelight so that the effect stops working, and you are left with an orb that never goes away and does nothing. Ability cannot be toggled anymore, and all that helps is relog - until you meet that higher-magelight player again.

It happens because radiant magelight affects players near you(giving them sneak attack protection), overwriting their own RM if it happens to be weaker - but the weaker effect does not get reactivated later.

Solution to this particular problem is - level your magelight to level 4, then it will never get overwritten.
