Game freezes consistently

I have been freezing and crashing a lot lately too.

Funny thing is, nothing has changed on my computer except ESO updating.

Yeah, my game has been freezing frequently, too. I think it's the latest GeForce driver. Sometimes after the game freezes and crashes, it will recover to the desktop and I get a message in the lower right corner of my screen saying something like the nVidia driver kernel malfunctioned. I sent a bug report to nVidia, haven't heard back.

    I'm running AMD.

And AMD hasn't updated drivers in FOREVER... so I can't blame freezing on a new driver..

I seriously think it's the last patch that did it for me.

Edit: I used to get this blue screen too. Not sure if it was a driver issue or not.

Hmmm...yeah, must be that the latest update is somehow conflicting with our video drivers then.

Have something showing GPU temperature. My guess, based on a few guild members experience, is the GPU is overheating. For gaming purposes I always ramp up the fan profile for my GPU.

ESO taxes the GPU more than most games which is partly due to using a new engine. My guess based on what you said is your screen freezes and you have to crash the game and log back in. If this is the case my assumption is likely correct.

I used to crash all the time in Cyrodiil. I lowered my video settings drastically and now I very rarely crash.

My GPUs are not overheating. They run very cool actually. I run MSI Afterburner to monitor temp & fan speed.

It's an issue with the patch conflicting with drivers. It isn't the first patch to do so.

I have been getting more freezing lately. But it's to the point that I have to use the Task Manager to kill the game, or sometimes even have to force a restart of my PC.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I've found a couple of spots now where I crash consistently. Most of the time when I crash I can log back in (sometimes after having to reboot because everything is completely frozen) and can continue on until the next crash. These two spots though, if I turned to face a particular direction or moved my character forward at all, I'd crash.

The really strange workaround I found is that if I change to windowed mode and resize the window so it takes up maybe a quarter of my total screen real estate, I can progress pass that point. Windowed(fullscreen) crashes and Windowed with the game maximized or anywhere close to maximized also crashes.

That workaround obviously only works in places where the crashes are consistent and somewhat predictable though. Can't play on what is essentially a ten inch screen because I can't see anything.

Are you, by any chance, running ESO on a higher priority in Task Manager?

really, 4 freezes today. (freezes everyday) here are my specs. 4790k 4.0ghz stock, 16 gig ddr3 2400mhz, titan X 12 gb.

and no freeze for me... so your rig suck? Your spec does not mean anything if the rest (OS, driver, etc) do not work well together...

all other games are fine, no crashes and freezes.. my whole guild complains about freezing issues every day.

wath is fo you freez? ruberbanding Effekt? Eso.exe stop working ? epic lag in cyrodiil wich end on a logout?

I've been booted to login screen around once an hour since the most recent update. Never happened before that. Meh.

This used to happen to me too.

Try closing down the launcher see if that helps.

If you are having issues with the ESO freeze screen problem you can try the following:

Edit the following file using a simple text editor -> C:\Users\\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\UserSettings.txt

Find the following parameter: SET RequestedNumThreads "-1"

Change the parameter to: SET RequestedNumThreads "0"

If there is no like "text" as the above copy paste the following line to the top of the UserSetting.txt:
    SET RequestedNumThreads "0"
Now save and start the game and it will most likely be gone.
