ZOS A question about Psn party chat and ESO chat if you could quickly answer

A mate of mine just asked me a question that could really throw a spanner in the works for us.

How will ESO on the consoles work between psn party chat and eso chat?

By this he means most console users talk to mates via psn and it is a pain to minimize your game to change audio to game back and forth.
But because we just remembered that we can only talk inq game to others and not type atm.
Will ESO have a quick switch button set up for this? If not i would recommend this right away because come june the 9th you may get alot of tickets asking this.

I will relay this into the ask us anything as well

Thanks
Heromofo

I used party chat during beta without any problems. Like other games you just hit the PS button to go out to the home page and join or modify the party chat. When in party chat you can't hear proximity chat so presumably it blocks the in game VoIP. The controls of the in game VoIP were all easy to use so I don't see a problem with this.

In terms of switching between in-game and PSN party chat, ESOTU functions in the same way other PlayStation 4 titles do. That is, you can switch back and forth by using your PSN party options as you normally would. There is no button you can map from within ESOTU to quickly switch between the two chat systems, but when party chat is active, the in-game VOIP will automatically stop (and then resume when party chat ends).

On a separate note, we also want to point out that it's against our Community Rules to bump or spam threads for the purpose of keeping them visible within recent discussions. Please refrain from doing this. Thanks!

Well on Xbox one we snap and unsnap so it's only a PS4 issue
ZOS is providing guild and group chat and prox chat in-game so the party chat is a non-game function both on PS4 and Xbox One. Xbox One provides snap and unsnap so it seems like Sony would have a similar function if it's an issue.

TESO being the only game on Ps4 with this issue?????
-I know at least Destiny, Diablo 3, Dragon Age, BF4, COD games have party chat

All PS4 games have party chat it is wired into the console and can't be overridden by developers. I'm guessing his problem was more to do with having a means of communicating with people in party chat and people in game who are not in party chat. So either via text chat or a one button swap between voice channels like PC users have with TS.

I guess it's a wait and see thing then mmm i hope its as easy as that.
My clannies normally party up via psn so i need to be in that chat.
So as long as i an quickly swap back and forth to game chat i will be happy.

Wait...so on PS4 you guys can't jump in and out while playing cause you don't have a "snap-like" feature?

I think that's what you're saying....that's a ps4 limitation that Sony needs to address cause that applies to all PS4 games

Nah we dont have a snap chat you have to minimize the game to the chat tab open the options and scroll down to it click it go into the game say what you need to then rinse and repeat.

But games can offer a quick swap option so i need to know if ZOS has done this smurf lol.

Yeah smurf this is what we do now lol im asking to see if there is any way of having a quick swap

Party-game means you cannot hear party chat or talk vice versa

Normally in warframe this fixed by a typing system ingame

So i need to know what zos has in the way of a work around or a quick swap i am sure they could work something out with Sony

The Xbox One, in Neverwinter, is easy to toggle between "party" chat and "game" chat. You can snap the Party window to the right side of the screen without leaving the game, and do what ever you need to, then unsnap it, and be right back to full screen.

Most of the other games I have played on the 360/One have all worked where Party chat overrides game chat. Seems that it works as expected to me.

Yeah he's referring to PS4 though. As far as I know, on the PS4 you have to back out to the playstation menu and change the party settings from prioritize party to prioritize game to switch.

That sounds like it would suck. Since you have no option for text chat, if you need to communicate with the party for a dungeon/trading/crafting/questing, you wouldn't be able to keep others in an active chat similar to using multiple chat progs on PC.

When I played Destiny on PS4 I found the entire switching between in-game and party voice chat very inconvenient. Didn't like it all all, saw no point to out of game voice-chat yet everyone pushed for its use.

I've never used an xbox one in a team party. Is xbox one better in terms of voice chat and how it functions compared to PS4?
End the tedious inventory management game.

Here I was thinking you guys had abandoned the forums all together. I was mistaken, you still only care about console.
