Racial motifs too rare after 1.6?

I've been looting containers EVERYWHERE (many many times over) and still have not seen one motif in any zone with the exception of a dwemer motif...

I found a primal by accident the other night that came from either crag delves or vEH pledge. I looted some random crates and such as I ran by, was not 'farming' in the slightest.

Between that what I've heard from guildmates my guess is the motifs may be more rare in owned containers due to stolen items and new loot tables but that they are now also dropping from other containers in the world and delves that they previously didn't.

So the problem we see isn't a nerfed drop rate, but a case of people looking in the wrong places.

Having trouble finding any purple motifs, let a lone an Imperial. the blues are pretty consistent, but it seems like purple motifs are a bugger to find.

Obviously RNG is going to slap me down very hard this year. I've picked up some 4 blue motifs, 3 dwemer pages, a Barbaric and an Imperial in the last week, mostly casually browsing. I've also picked up 3 Kutas from the wild. It's just that they actually have a working random number generator and you folks are getting the bad side of it. Human Beings notice "patterns", even with random effects, and then think something is going on, when it isn't. To translate: You think it's changed, because the randomness is/isn't in your favour however it's just random.

I agree with the first part. I check almost all the containers as I go through a building even if I am not stealing and rarely see any Motifs anymore, because of the JS Loot taking up space in the loot tables. Before 1.6, I could log to a Mule in Wayrest, hit two buildings and get a Blue Motif almost every log in. Now I sample those same containers and rarely see a motif, to the point that I don't even bother. Also, I am seeing a ton more lockpicks in the buildings where there are containers that used to hold motifs, like the bank in Daggerfall. Last night, each and every piece of furniture in there had one Lockpick in it.

As for them dropping more in other containers, not so much that I have noticed. I still find them in Urns, Backpacks and Burned Crates/Barrels out in the world just like before. I think people are noticing them more in those containers as they never had to farm those containers before. I don't remember if I have gotten a Motif from a regular crate before in the game.

Motifs have definitely become much rarer. I have given up hope of finding the purple ones I need. I have never seen legendary loot at all (do you have to be a vr14 to get legendary drops? I might have to find out about that...) so I can't say about those Imperial motifs... But since the introduction of the justice system I have been robbing and looting all over and haven't found ONE motif in all that time. Not one. Before that, fortunately, I managed to find myself every single blue motif and the Primal one.

I'm sure the presence of motifs as a real money item in the crown store has nothing to do with insane rarity of motifs in my constant pilfering. I admit, though, when I get the next lot of crowns with my sub I fully intend to get my hands at long last on the rare motifs. Not that long ago I would have spent the crowns on something else and held out hope of finding the motifs the good old fashioned way. But I no longer have any belief that I will find them anymore. I haven't even found a blue one in ages....

Keep in mind that rng will reset on purple motifs OR purple recipes. So if you will find purple recipe in writ - next day or two will be a waste. You will not find neither new purple motifs nor recipes. To increase the chances you might go to some dwarven ruins. You will find either purple motifs there or dwemer chapters. It might take couple of days.

You can get an Imperial at any level (I found one at L6 in Stonefalls way back in the day). There might be a minimum level now, but it's not VR Rank.

Same with Dwemer Chapters (and I imagine the complete book). I found my first at L6 in Stros Makai (sp?)

The traditional Purple Motifs are leveled, Barbaric and Primal in Caldwell's Silver zones only, and Ancient Elf/Daedric in Caldwells Gold zones only. The other problem is, pre 1.6 even, Blue motifs do not drop in Silver or Gold zones. So you go from having 9 motifs in the loot table (competing with the JS and other regular loot) to 2 Motifs in the Loot table. Not sure how the Imperial factors in there, but it's drop rate is like .00001% or some absurd number like that.

Thanks.... That explains so much. I am nearing the end of Caldwells Silver... So I am in the zones with the least chance of finding motifs at all. Perhaps I will hold onto those crowns for now....

Its just random luck. My first time through AD for Cadwell's silver I didn't find a single motif or purple recipe. Zip zero nada. And i checked every single lootable container. In fact I didn't find a motif until after the Dwemer pages had been released and I found a Ancient Elf motif in Avanchnzel while looking for a dwemer page. Now on my Alt who is in Vet 7 and in Reaper's March currently, I found the Primal motif in Kenarthi's Roost AND in Auridon. So from my perspective the drop rate has increased. Rng is a fickle friend.

Harder to farm containers due to JS. Nerfed motif drop rates. Frustrated players turn to cash shop for relief. F2P system working as intended.

don't have any problems with looting motifs.
They drop as usual from time to time, now even from even more container types.
Got my imperial from small sack recently.
Just look into every NOT NAMED container that has 'general loot'
So all types of sacks if it's not named like: Millet Sack, Seasoning Sack etc.
Boxes, crates, barrels even and usual wardrobes desks etc.
Just don't farm it

drop is random so just enjoy it when it drops
