I have seen some fantastic ideas on the forums lately but i feel the community as a whole isnt being fully transparent.

Lets go ahead and say what we really mean. Why can ESO just be WoW with elderscrolls stuff? Im talking PVP gear seasons, HUGE shoulderpads, gearscore, going afk while crafting 100 items, cross server duty finder!

While we are at it lets talk expansion packs. Seriously why dont i log in with the option to create a V14 character RIGHT AWAY so i can get on with grinding champ points. PANDAS! omg where the hell are the pandas?

Im greatly disappointed in this game. If im not releveling my toons every 6 months and trashing all the gear i earned and replacing it with a green i get in the new area then idkwtf im doing in life?

one more thing WHERE ARE THE HOTBARS? Like for real i can actually see what im fighting. How come i cant blot out the sun with my hotbar skills? Why am i not looking at a raid through an opaque set of hotbars lining my entire screen?

WHERE is the lich king? Lich king was by far the best and most challenging bosses ever made ever. Every MMO should have the lich king battle but with better graphics. speaking of graphics whats with this graphic engine? doesnt ZOS know to make an MMO you just take the WoW engine and MS paint your lore into it? And voice acting WHY WHY? why cant i not read the quest and just grind. where are all the mindless collect 10 of this for a billion xp?

I really like WoW ... but now i dont play WoW... but i want every game to be WoW.... whats wrong with me?

    WoW was the first MMO...
Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.
Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

    XBOX NA
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

As a casual player I was satisfied that at one point I had a char max level and near max crafting with almost all motifs and I pretty much lost interest. Then ESO discovered DLC's and now my main is just a wanabe and I am happily pulled back into the game.

Because WoW old designers were genius people, they understand that most important things is community entertainment/world progression/CHOOSE in small/bid scale pvp and so on, what we have here you can see by yourself, of course many saying "WoW dying, WoW crap" etc., BUT even "DEAD" WoW have like x1000 more players then our beloved ESO which had ambitions to be top MMO of the world, what makes some senses i think.

@Dionysusjones, it seems to me you're just setting up a strawman argument to then rally against. I've not seen anyone on here advocating adding huge shoulderpads, pandas, or lich kings to the game, for example.

I do understand the underlying issue, though: WoW has a very contrived, on-rails progression system (PVP gear seasons, gearscore, "replacing gear every 6 months", etc).

While this design can certainly make any of us feel like we're on an unending "gear treadmill", it also serves as a catch-up mechanic for new people jumping into the game, or for those who have come back after not playing for years.

In ESO the main endgame progression system is your Champion Level, which is an estimated 3,600-hour grind, possibly more. How would you feel, as a new player joining the game a year from now, and being perpetually behind everyone else?

In my opinion, a Champion point catchup mechanic (like raising the enlightenment cap, or doubling CP gain for Champion Levels 1-70... and then a year from now tripling the CP gain for the 1-70 bracket while also doubling CP gain for the 71-140 bracket, and so on) would be a really good thing for game's community. Let's keep everyone on a relatively even playing field.

Oh, and as far a WoW raid ideas go... I would be all over an Ulduar-esque Dwemer themed Trial. ;)
Really we do it without like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical: the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth. Right? The brain, more important than the mouth, is the brain. The brain is much more important.

Actually I am pretty sure Neverwinter Nights was the first MMORPG. Now I am not talking about the PC single player game. I am talking about a 2nd edition Dungeons and Dragons PC title that was released in 93 I believe. This was even before Ultima Online (which I had previously thought was the first MMORPG).

    Edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neverwinter_Nights_(MMORPG)

Ok it apparently launched in 91. My mistake.

I'm thinking the OP was aiming more for the angle that WoW's basically spoiled people. They've become so accustomed to the baby's first MMO feel of WoW they have the same expectation of any other MMO, inadvertently causing the downfall of many new MMO's with interesting ideas. WoW has conditioned people to be impatient. It's all about the instant gratification for them. It's gotten to the point that WoW's become too ludicrous for its own good, constantly rewriting its own history, constantly dumbing down mechanics, constantly watering down content. There's no sense of awe and accomplishment anymore. It's all about how fast can I get this achievement done and over with, where's my loot, where does this new vanity pet drop. Everything is pretty much handed to players instead of earned.

I went through what a friend of mine calls the 'hardest divorce ever' by completely dropping WoW. I tried to play it for a few hours a day but as time went on it became almost painful to play. Painfully boring and ultimately ESO took up more and more of my time. Now WoW is basically an overpriced facebook to me. I only remain subbed to keep in touch with friends, which now you can do with the handy dandy BS-net launcher that's supposedly soooo innovative.

So many people complain about ESO's mechanics and systems, and they ask for improvements to make it easier. But that's not making it easier. That's wanting to turn it into WoW, and in the long run that'd cause far more harm than good. If WoW conditioned people to instant gratification, then I'd like to hope ESO can do the reverse and show people the virtues of delayed gratification. Like Cookie Monster and Tom Hiddleston.

"I really like WoW ... but now i dont play WoW... but i want every game to be WoW.... whats wrong with me?

I like this part best so basically you tell us you want ESO to be like WoW but then you turn around and say you dont play WoW so why on god green earth would you like the thing that make WoW so bad to be on ESO for i take you stop play WoW reason.

Why I use WoW as reference have to do with 2 thing WoW have been around for over 10 year now and it is most successful of all time if you look at subscription number at there top the have over 12 million player world wide and that my friend is sometime to look up.

But do i like WoW no not after the last 3 expansion blizzard have done and i dont like blizzard greedy i mean you have a subscription base game with in game shop yes i know it have always been a webshop and that is ok but serious add 3 in game button and sell lvl 90 boost char and now the sell "token" which you buy for real money and turn around and sell in game for gold and "token" gave people more subscription time i mean come on and people on this forum whine about ZoS being greedy the are not even close to how greedy blizzard have been come for in my eyes blizzard have turn away from make i good game to only focus on make as much money the can.

Make ESO more like WoW will not make this game great in anyway it will mostlike make so them off us that love ESO leave game instead but use WoW as reference when you talk about idea you have can make the Dev. team understand little better what you are talk about.
Lets go ahead and say what we really mean. Why can ESO just be WoW with elderscrolls stuff? Im talking PVP gear seasons, HUGE shoulderpads, gearscore, going afk while crafting 100 items, cross server duty finder!
    • But adding gearscore is one of worst thing blizzard add to WoW
    • HUGE shoulderpads where have you read that i have read that people want to have feature to turn it off
    • we dont need cross server duty finder we are playing on a MEGA server which mean ALL the people in Europa is on 1 server and NA is on 1 server so we dont need that
    • PvP gear seasons is maybe something the PvP community would like to have but i dont think we need other set of gear just to play PvP i reminder back in 2004 in classic WoW the PvP gear did have any extra stats but still people manage to win in PvP for then it is was more about skills then gear for that is 1 thing that WoW have big problem the game is depend way to much on gear so skills go out the window i reminder when i was raid molten core not all of us did not have full epic set of raid gear most of all use blue gear and still we manage to kill Ragnaros

So No we dont need to be more like WoW, ESO is better off being itself.

Yeah, good luck with that. WoW isn't the only thing out there conditioning people for instant gratification, unfortunately, and that conditioning has a tendency to bleed into everything else.

I am going to agree with the poster above. Delayed gratification was something that was severely lacking in the last few mnths of WoW. I had absolutely no interest in playing that anymore, not because of gameplay but really because the stories were just not pulling me into it.

Eso had one of the best storylines that ive played ( its not the best but one of it) and I wonder if the storyline would just deteriorate much like Wow did. Maybe the implementation of the game wasnt as superb as wow but hell, the game design is imo much better than wow had with all of its buttons and all of its 'information' on screen.

I love how the simplicity of the ui made so much more of a difference than any other game had. Im glad ive played the Secret World, it really changed my perception on builds and gear sets.. A royal flush will always beat any deck of card.
