stygian set why medium

i dont get why this set would be medium armor ,would be an awesome set in light armor... that 5th bonus set is really good for NB just pop cloak and you got 20% buff on spell dmg

or at least if it had jewelry it be ok. with one neck you can use dagger and just sacrifice 2 piece for medium gear for 5th bonus set .

but at these state why would anyone use this set

Because it's a holdover from when hybrid builds were viable pre-1.6, and for some reason they won't change sets like this that have become garbage.

Have they explicitly stated this? I thought they just haven;t quite got round to re-adjusting many sets.

That being said, they have said they are working on 20 new sets, so I wouldn't be surprised if these types of older sets will be phased out.

I have never actually ran this set (I sold all the pieces I ever got). The reason is, I could never cast a spell without being becoming detected by the mob losing all stealth bonuses. Like from Camouflaged Hunter. Maybe I was not losing the bonus as it processed on being in stealth when I cast it, but since I refuse to run the flying numbers from FTC, some information is not available to me. Anyway, as soon as I started to cast a spell from Stealth, the mobs came a running.

you dont need FTC to see number when you go stealth just hit (C) key and you will see spell dmg buff increase by 20% similar to rally .. i think its great for NB basically evrytime you hit cloak you got a 20% buff

yes your right
but with cloak you can keep that 20% spell dmg buff basically during the entire fight by goin in and out of stealth .

with out cloak you are really just using the bonus for the gank/first hit.

i would prefer using this bonus during the fight using cloak

My pre-1.6 build was built around this. How they could release 1.6/2.0 and not do a thorough scrubbing of all the item sets is beyond me. There is another thread somewhere just today about this. Sadly, it's going to be July or August at the earliest before this is addressed.

Yes, I would see that in the character stats. But when I went to cast a spell, I was detected before I could fire the spell off. So, I never knew if I was actually getting the bonus or not. Maybe Stygian is different, as I never collected all 5 pieces. Well, I did, just never used them, mostly because I was leveled past the set.

i never tried it before1.6 but i did try it a week ago 1.6 and its great but to sacrafice 3 gear in medium for a magika NB i didnt find it worth it. now if they had a neck or jewerly this set would be nice , 2 dagger neck and 2 rings lol we can all dream

Magicka NB here too. I have a nice 2 daggers/3 piece gold set that took me forever to get the mats to upgrade. You are absolutely correct though. Losing the 5 piece light armor passive bonuses is simply not worth the stygian 5 piece bonus. I tried to make it work. Lord knows I tried. And died. A lot.
