Champion Points for deleted Characters?

Hey,

just a quick and simple question:

Will you get Champion Points for characters you once played and then deleted? Last year I had a VR2 Nightblade and deleted it afterwards, as well as some lower characters.

So, are they recognized for the calculation or do only existing characters count?

    I would be very surprised.

Only characters that you have when 1.6 goes live will count.

I doubt it, you need to actually log in to those characters in order to claim the champion points they've earned.

Also when you delete a character, you're effectively dismissing any progression that character has done so it's kind of fair that it's only with characters you got.

No, because you need to actually log onto a vet character to collect their CP the first time. Sort of like how, with the dye system, you initially needed to log onto a character that actually had the achievement for a dye, before it was unlocked for your other characters.

Think they give you CP's for the deleted character that can only be applied to the deleted character...

Why on earth would they give you CP's for a character that no longer exists?

Because you leveled it and got the XP with it, that's why it could be a thing. Nevermind that it's not, but it could have been possible.

Something similar was done in another MMORPG when it came to a similar new gaming system.

The OP makes me wonder what will happen after 1.6 drops and you delete a vet character. What happens to the CP's earned on that character that have been applied to your account total? I would expect them to remain, but I haven't heard anything about this yet. Maybe someone has noticed this on PTS?

There's no reason they would go away. Once you have Champion Points, they're on your account as a whole. While I'm sure there's a way to track which character earned which points, it would be a waste of energy for ZO to code that in the game. It's not like any players could take advantage of it.

No, CP is an account wide thing, once earned.

If you log on to a vet 14, get your 70 points, spend them, log over to your level 4 lurking in Stonefalls, you'll have 70 more CP waiting for them, even though they can't earn more.

You all are correct - once the Champion Points are applied or earned, they are account wide and cannot be removed or taken away.

What happens to the champion points if we delete the character they're based off of? Just curious.

Er.. Nevermind. Just read the title of this thread haha. Sorry!

After you've actually collected them on your account? They should stay, but I'm not sure.

Note: my previous comment got deleted due to the new website changes.

I would like to know about this. What if I log into my main char, get all 70 CP and then delete such char. Two scenarios:

    a) Your deleted char was the only one in your roster.
    b) You have low and vet alt chars.

For a) most probably you have lost all your 70 CP and leveling a new vet one will not give them back.
For b) you can access it from your vet ones or after leveling your lower ones.

@ZOS_GinaBruno can you clarify this, please?

The original ZOS post on this and the 'green' above is clear .. once the CPs have been 'claimed' from the conversion pool they are permanently part of your account and usable by all VR1+ characters thereafter.

    What in ...
You all are correct - once the Champion Points are applied or earned, they are account wide and cannot be removed or taken away.
    is still unclear?

In that comment applied I take to be synonymous with claimed in earlier 'green' posts about accessing the conversion pool.

Nothing ZOS have ever said has remotely hinted that you must always maintain one character in your account roster in order to keep your CPs and IMO it's just not credible that would be how they would do it,.

@jcaceresw, scenario (b) is your answer, (a) would only apply if you deleted the VR toon BEFORE claiming them from the conversion pool.

    @starkerealm , I was being snide.

Certainly once you have earned CP's from a character (after CP's are earnable), it makes sense that you would keep them as long as you keep your account, even if you subsequently delete that character.

Expecting credit for a deleted character prior to the implementation of the thing you are wanting credit for seems a bit less reasonable.

So if I delete a low level character and create a new one I will still have the champion points that were with the previous character?

Low level characters don't have c-points.

Your account has c-points, earned by your high level characters, and those stay no matter what.

If your high level character earns 50 c-points, all your characters will have 50 c-points to spend, no matter what level.

Yes, that includes all characters you newly create.
