Altmer Templar Tank

Is an altmer templar tank viable? Im leveling up an imperial right now but thinking of switching to altmer. It seems templar tanks use a lot of magic abilites so I was curious if altmer was a good choice. If i switch would i be gimped later on? Thanks for the help.

I'd stay with Imperial if I where you. If you create an Imperial and an Altmer so that both of them have the same amout of magicka and stamina, your Imperial have more health and therefore will survive the fight more likely.
The increased magicka regen won't be that important at least once you get some champion points to increase your regen and decrease skill costs.

if you mean Magicka tank, then yes, far as i know the Altmer Racial are quite helpful in that regard. As for stamina tanking, not exactly super helpful, no, Wood elf, i think would probably be at least slightly better since it has a stamina racial.

Your fine with altmer.

Go magic based tank, just gett your healrh at approximaty 25kish for end game and use regen tri pots and youll be golden.

As a magic based tank you are relying on magic spam to tank And mitigate.

So u want to be able to regen that magic fast.

Blazing shield, jabs, ae purify, great ground based dot, volcanic rune and more.

Not to mention you can actually heal yourself well without switching to a resto staff.

As a Templar you're likely to use Magicka and Spells in your arsenal, and while Imperials make great Stam Tanks, nothing beats Magicka and Damage Shields while Blocking, thus Altmer for Templar is numerical superior.

A little late on the response, but my main is an Altmer Templar tank, and she's not only viable but extremely survivable. Hell, I've saved my group by spamming Breath of Life, despite taking a beating from a boss at the same time, while someone was res-ing the healer. I mean, it's not a sustainable thing, and by no means does it mean you can run without a healer. However, it's only doable because of the magicka benefits of being an Altmer.

If you do run out of magicka, drop Channeled Focus, morph of Rune Focus. You get back 120 magicka every 0.5 seconds for 18 seconds. That translates to 4,320 returned total. Yay!
