Like others have said, this beta model is kind of a let down. I beta tested the PC game knowing I wanted to play it on the XBONE. I played again last weekend to see what was new. I preordered and paid in full the imperial edition the first day preorders were released (over a year ago). No Beta invite. I have been a loyal fan for well over three years through development, beta, and your many delays for the console version. You already have my money and all I want to do is continue to support you and beta test for one weekend. But no, you send out codes randomly and I am sure more than half your beta testers will never fill out a survey, post on the forums, or submit a bug report. They will play to see if they want to cancel their pre order and some might even come on here to *** about the game. This happens on every beta I have ever participated in. When will companies learn that random draw is not the best way to staff a beta. Then they wonder why there are bugs galore on launch. Normally this isn't compounded by the fact that there will be only one beta lasting a few days. Also, your announcement talks more about your tester self promoting the game for you then actually testing it. This reeks of a publicity stunt to generate more pre orders. I was thinking about actually subbing when the console version went live but if this is indication of how much you care about the quality of your product, I think I will pass until after a few months to see if your console version is even playable. Please prove me wrong and provide us with the number of players who make it out of the starting zone (not the first zone but the actual starting zone) during your beta weekend. I will wager it is less than 50%, probably more than that. You should call this a preview event and not a beta test.

Look, I can't say that I am not disappointed that I didnt get a Beta Key even though I signed up for the beta as soon as people were able to, but lets not get tooooo butt hurt over it. You can go to Twitch and watch livestreams, although I know that doesn'd compare to actually playing it.

With that being said, wouldn't you want to the absolute most people possible to participate in a Beta Test to put as much stress on the servers as possible, and to idk, TEST THEM? This closed Beta thing doesn't make much sense in my opinion.

I'll be honest, considering all the bugs and problems the game had when it first launched last year, you would think they would try their best to ensure they don't have a repeat. Maybe I'm being cynical. But hey, we'll see on June 9th if their strategy pays off. :)

I am looking forward to the console launch. At that point the PC player base may stop getting the cold shoulder.

Because you have bought CE, pre-orders, transfer fee's, etc won't guarantee a beta code.

This is the same in most AAA mmo's.

    Deal with it.

Hmm. No character templates, only four days to test, and a huge download. I don't think many people will reach level 10, so Cyrodiil probably won't see much action at all during this test. In any case, almost nobody will get enough playtime to unlock the AoE abilities that seem to be a problem in the PC version.

Do they think that a server load test is not needed? The state of the game on the PC side seems to indicate that a load test is very much in order. And if they have the situation under control for the console version of Cyrodiil, why not show it off?

I'm probably reading too much into this, but it would certainly have created a big buzz if testers had come back and said "Wow, Cyrodiil is free from lag and glitches in the console versions".

Hey guys here is a video on YouTube from xbox gameplay. Enjoy.

This is as much "BETA" as most of us are going to get.

Not once did I speak of entitlement. I spoke about selecting the best players for the beta. People who are passionate about the game and have been following/playing for over a year are those players. Not the I want to try the game out or get more followers for my twitch stream people. You are right, MMOs have generally not done this and most of their launches have been plagued by bugs, lag, and other problems. But to say no AAA title has ever done this is flat out wrong. Wildstar did it, WoW did it, and so have many others. it may not have been the whole beta, but you as a loyal customer got to beta test at least once before launch.

I signed up for the beta and also took advantage of the $20 offer for the XBOX One, but so far no beta key :/ I'm hopeful they may still send out more.

Hey there. Good news: I got an invite. Bad news: I don't have a PS4...yet.

Will I still be able to convert my copy at a later date for free? I AM planning on getting a PS4 later this year, just not now..I have some other expenses to see too, including a new TV eventually.

    How should I proceed?

We can hope. Lots of tasty DLC this summer though!

I am starting to get a bit worried for PC. No info at all from ZoS....

I'm almost completely sure that they are going to have problems on release because of this. Only one weekend of beta being a closed beta with likely less than 100,000 beta testers is not going to help them at all. I would bet on having MANY problems on launch day. Plus, gaming companies NEVER seem to learn from past mistakes so I did not expect them to learn how much beta testing was needed from past examples.

I agree to a certain extent.

Think about it, they delayed the game not once but twice. I'm sure they were seeing one too many bugs that they said "gee our pc release didnt go so well. we should wait even if its not what our customers want but it'll be for the better" they probably have the game running so smooth they just want to maybe test loads/stress on servers (yes i know its not that many people so how would you test load stress). They can assign servers instead of opening up the whole farm to the players. I'm pretty sure this game is running so smooth the beta is just because hey they signed up, lets give it to them and see if they can break something while they are in there...

They don't really need a lot of beta for console. Most of the actual in-game issues have already been fixed on pc, so those fixes will port over. A quest that isn't broken on PC probably won't be broken on console. Developing for two consoles is like developing for two two specific PCs and not having to worry about all of the other PCs. If it works fine on one Xbox it should work fine on another.
