Probably true.
But if you look at past MMORPG's that went console.
Everquest
Didn't end up too successful.
But its a new generation, but I also feel that if its like how it is on PC, I don't think its console ready. If they cant fix these bugs, and release it with bugs... That's just not a good, enough said. This game lacks group content too in my mind.
I think that GW2 would be a good console game though, there tPvP and sPvP alone would be enough.
We'll just have to wait and see. But if this game is known for bugs and is released a year later with bugs... It really isn't good, just further insults the game.
You named one MMO and one of the first MMO,s on console.
FFXIV is not only very big still on console, a massive amount of its user base is still ps4.
DCUO is still on PS4 and the population in there, far surpases that of its PC counterpart.
One thing you say that is very true though is the bugs, more so the performance. On PC even high end machines can drop from 100 fps to 20fps, especially in PvP. If they can't get it steady on PC, then God help console players.

@ItsRejectz you are aware that DCUO and FF14 both allow cross platform play right? I.E. PC and PS4 play together.......sad
EQ did this as well with pc and ps2....ff11 did it as well with pc(and mac), ps2, xbox, and ps3 all playing on the same server(s). Sadly this is a different day and age where "its to complicated to do that" and by "to complicated" they mean sony and microsoft dont want to play nice because it would ruin the gamer war.........its all so pathetic

If the rumors are true that ESO cost $200 million to produce, than I suspect that the investors are still millions of dollars in the red, so the release of the consoles will be necessary to recover the development losses.

Xbox and PC are Microsoft... I dont see why Xbox and PC cant be on the same server, I think it would be good business for Microsoft. To be honest I was surprised that they are releasing it on both Xbox and PS4, you would think that either Sony or Microsoft would just buy Zeni out and make it a single platform game. Getting people into their system through the ES name.

There are 20 million reasons for why TESO is getting put on console. That is how many copies of Skyrim were sold.
If just 10% of the gamers who purchased Skyrim buy the console version of TESO, that is roughly 2 million copies sold, which is almost certainly more than the number of copies sold for the PC.
Um, this is NOTHING like Skyrim other than them using the UI. This is far far FAR from Skyrim and when people realize this, it's going to cause people to ditch ESO and the game will fail, most will jump ship and I don't know how they will recover. They will just end up making stupid dev/marketing decisions and further their decent down the toilet. This was a bad move going to console. I don't care what anyone says this was a BAD MOVE. PERIOD.
It seems to me that you do not wish to see what others are saying. You are nor pleased with the console release. That is understandably but also take in to consideration that lots of console players don't have access to a PC that can run said game. (not all but most of the ones i have spoken too) and thus ESO will be a change of pace for them, a true mmo and not some lobby based multiplayer PVP FPS. It will get ESO some income, and who's to say how well it will do, i have seen many doom sayers in my day and they have all been wrong. If the game was going to fail it would have pulled an APB by now and closed down. or a tabula rasa.

ZeniMax Media is much bigger than just TES games. They are also highly profitable, so company selloff is not even something on the table.

We'll find out in a couple of months, I guess. The number of box sales on PC/Mac were actually pretty good, but the number of players that are still active is not that great. With the tainted reputation of the buggy and unstable PC/Mac version, they will need some pretty convincing marketing to attract customers for the console release, and they need to deliver on their promises, not make the same mess of it as they did for the PC/Mac version.
All you really have to do is look at Skyrim.. PC only accounted for around 14% of total sales http://www.statisticbrain.com/skyrim-the-elder-scrolls-v-statistics/
I am predicting the same (maybe not to the same degree) to happen again, purely because of the sheer amount of console players combined with their lack of MMO's. Xbox has neverwinter, ps4 had DCUO and FFXIV. All highly populated on console.
Where as us on PC, have thousands of MMO's. Meaning we are a lot more spread across the board to.
Anyway, guess nobody knows for sure yet. Only time will tell

STOP STOP STOP
They sold more on pc then they sold on console . Your stats doesnt count steam sales .... like what are you smoking?
They sold 10 million copies of skyrim in the first release month on steam!!
http://www.theverge.com/2011/12/16/2641119/skyrim-fastest-selling-steam-game-10-million-retail
Your wrong wrong wrong !!!!!!!
They probly have more sales of skyrim on steam then they have for there wholestats you just showed up.... So PLZ STOP POSTING UNACCURATE STATS
eDIT : 10 milion steam sale in the first month , then tehre was steam sales on the next year and I baught skyrim on 75% discount like 8 month ago. Million probly baught it like me on discount thats why im saying they probly sold more skyrim on steam then they sold on your whole stats...
For eample on your dumb stats web site If I write up Counter strike global offensive ... there is absolutely no sales stats. why? its on steam . But if I go to that website there was a peak of 500 000 player connected to the game at the same ( no where near what eso can reach with current stats of game lol)
So you website stats is just FALSE AND UNACCURATE! PLZ STOP POSTING IT there was more sales on Skyrim on pc . end of discussion
And that is why I don't mine the console release (its different servers anyway, so I would not notice) I just want them to hire more dev's but they need more revenue to do thatBrassRazoo wrote: »The revenue from console sales may just keep the PC version afloat.

Um, what does that even mean cause I haven't the slightest clue... And it's damn true microtransactions are killing the game, DAY 1 DLC is by far one of the worst decisions for gamers to have to deal with, and this is just one example.

Be it as it may it still was a bad idea from the start. They took their time to release content, I'm SURE that's because they were focusing on console. If they didn't have priority on console after release they could have continued creating content at a regular pace like normal MMO's usually do. Either way I'm disappointed on how this was handled. It's even worse now that the release date is coming closer for consoles they basically halted everything to get consoles released, and can't even fix the lag issues and the pvp issues this game has. Hell BETA was more stable than it is now. I played like 3 beta weekends and while there were some that were worse than others, I actually had more fun pvping during beta than I do here simply because of the lag issues and horrible imbalance issues I find myself facing.

Supercell is the company that made Clash of Clans, highest grossing mobile app game of all time. It's completely free to play with microtransactions that speed up your build time. Probably every person on these forums would consider it a P2W game, yet they blow away the competition in both revenue and player base.
My point is that while we may see microtransactions as a bad thing, they definitely have their place in video games. We have plenty of examples to prove that.

Most MMO do not release content at a frequent, steady pace. Sure, they might release a minor new system every month, or a few items, every 4-5 months they might release a new area, major gameplay system, every couple years they release an expansion. WoW, the biggest, most profitable MMO on the market, releases an expansion every 18 months or so, and then nothing. No new areas, classes, major gameplay changes, modes, systems, aside from patches. ESO has had a bunch of major updates since release, with additions to the game, changes to how things work, balancing.
You don't remember Beta if you think it was stable. I played 3 or 4 weekends and it was bad. A third of the quests would lock up and stop working, especially the ones with enemies you need to spawn. You could get stuck in the endless load screen quite a bit, disconnect at random, some of the features didn't even work.
