What is your exprience of other ESO players?

  • c.p.garrett1993_ESO
Now that I've played for a few days I can comment.
So far everything has been very good. Some immature and weird people in zone chat but when I have a question there is always somebody quick to respond and offer a solution or relevant advice. It's honestly been the best community I have seen in gaming. Period.

I've had an overall good experience with other players. naturally, there will usually be something blowing up in the zone/guild chats now and then, but I don't involve myself (and some stupid arguments even make me laugh :joy: ).

    Good people, bad people.....

I al;ways help anyone I can and have made some good friends that way. :)

    Bad/silly people......

I was doing a quest the other day and because of my play style it was a VR6 quest and at the time I was VR11.......

It was in an area that is currently popular for grinding(sshhhh)

I like to maximise my xp/cp gain by killing as many mobs as possible whilst doing a quest......

The names I got called were unbelievable, mainly along the lines of 'WTF are you doing here at your level'(majorly censored)

I just put the players concerned on my ignore list and carried on.

BUT my overall experience has been great, sometimes laughing so much I cry, I would definitely do it all again. :)
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

For the most part my experience has been good.

I find it is in the lower 1-50 zones that you come across the immature crowds in zone chat and most of those who like to ruin the game for other people. I have a tendency to keep zone chat off in those levels unless I need help for something which is extremely rare, or I am helping others to find WW or Vampire spawns so they don't have to buy a bite from someone.

Vet levels I find is where the more dedicated mature players hang out doing their thing.

There are a few players that haven't gotten used to the fact that the XP needed to gain Vet levels was significantly reduced and are not used to seeing Vet 11's in Vet 6 areas etc and they can be a bit jerky about it. I have educated a few of them on the fact that if you just do ALL quests in the zone and kill ALL mobs you see along the way to the quest that you go up levels real quick, and I don't rush through content.

I am thankful the higher the vet zone you get to, the quieter the zone gets. I also find the more other players are willing to help you out when you are in a bind. Vampire wearing Light Armor going against Deadroth really, really sucks since ZOS made them immune to CC and knockback.
Far too many characters to list any more.

I help when i am able, i have seen a lot of people ask the same questions i asked when i first joined only to have the reply "google it" or "alt+F4" or my least fave "go die". i see helpful people but the community on eso is much like any other mmo, you have your kind players floating around a sea of toxic morons. I respect those who help and answering a question is not to tough. it takes less time to do then it does to mock people who are new.

    BETA
My experiences were rather entertaining.. In Beta there was virtually none we were nothing but blenders getting every level we could. Myself included, but I also had a desire to quest as much as possible and do every quest, boss, dungeon, etc. solo as to see if there was any possibility the game would encompass the new standard for MMO which is to "play with friends for more fun!" I was glad to see such was far from truth.

    EARLY ACCESS
Loved playing the game, within about 30ish hours I was already in Coldharbour and had unlocked "Dominion Hero." I had almost no interaction with players, had a few buggy quests that I either had to give up on or couldn't finish. Which was rather rare for me since I already had all sky shards for the AD zones. Got my crafting up, got almost all the motifs in the game too. Got Daedric but luck, Imperial for 12k, Primal and Barbaric for 15k each and loved where the market so far was in the game. It seemed promising, and I hated gold spammers.. They were everywhere, in your mailbox, your pms, guilds, EVERYWHERE. Infuriating.. I joined up a few trading guilds, not friendly people markets were unbelievably cheap back then and so many people were eager and so willing to help you level provisioning, blacksmithing, etc. So it was fun and easy. I hated the story, have yet to meet a person who liked it or got the fact that the Companions with the Prophet (Ex-emperor), Lyris, etc. are not the Companions from Skyrim's loving tales..

    AFTER LAUNCH
I began to hate people at this point.. Cyrodiil was blisteringly fun, I hated leaving even for a second. I wanted and did help regain a lot of ground we were at first losing to DC and EHP. Helped guide newbs and more about and trying my absolute hardest to out HPS the insane DK DPS at the time. Pretty much impossible for an NB, but I managed with a lot of help to push them back and we took over Cyrodiil and kept the map under the Dominion. So yeah I had a lot of fun in Cyrodiil from protecting people with heals to watching my Dominion lay siege to each tower and grab all the scrolls. We were top dog. I got my VR ranks now and was rolling around in crafting traits and so on. Trying to make my first character universal and all around awesome. My guilds fell at the wayside. None of them were real PvP guilds that had a show for Emperor status, we were the rank fillings. I do miss commanding people and watching each place end with success. I loved being caught by surprise, I loved being a healbot, I loved watching archers get set on fire from oil.. I loved the tactics, I loved feeling like the Major from Hellsing about War. I loved the PvE content in terms of everything except for the main story quest line with the Prophet. I however will never be able to stop loving Cadwell. How can you hate the guy, he's just delightfully insane! I tried for the DC and EHP sides, but when it came to the racism between the argonians and other races I was a bit put off, and the dunmer weren't really the most fun people. Too much political bullsh**. Nords were rather funny idiots, drunken rams bashing their heads into whatever was another solid object. The DC I just hated..I felt like the deserts belonged to the Khajiit and felt betrayed we can't see Elsweyr yet (and still F***ING CAN'T.) The LFG function worked really well at the time, at least for me and I loved playing in the dungeons, all of them were entertaining in their own form. Hated Selene's Web, Longclaw was just brutal...And the last boss compared to him was a breeze. I hated the boss farmers, loved the mob blenders. Made getting materials and levels from deconstruction just pathetically easy. So there was a lot of good, but I never really saw interest in rerolling a new class. It just didn't and still doesn't make sense to me. It was worse though when the duplication glitch went live and the teleporting bots became a purchasable .exe... That made crafting a complete hellstorm and you absolutely HAD to get items to deconstruct because the chances for materials was ridiculous. How can you beat a bot that teleports around? I even somehow lost a CE treasure map chest to one. They rerolled us 7 hours back, trait crafting was effected and people were pissssseeddd especialy those who just got motifs. Some people still lost their gold in the transaction they made, AND lost the motif knowledge. Double trouble.. It was nice though being a vampire or werewolf at the time, fire damage intake sucked, but vampires were OP as hell and bites for either of us ran from 10k - 55k gold. Good times.. No motif was passed 65k too. Daedric was top, AE next, Barbaric, Primal, and Imperial last. Prices on tempers were between 100g/ea - 8k+/ea that ranged from blues, epics, and legendary. Almost all the prices you might see today used to be double because of hacking bots and glitchers. May 10th, I quit. I didn't care to keep the subscription and was already annoyed enough it wasn't a free month like we were promised, you were forced to enter credit card information.

    "F2P" Launch
Blew my mind some of my guilds were still alive, still blows my mind EHP is top dog now. They used to be the easiest faction to put down. Numbers game... Seems that finally traded out? In a few new guilds, rather interesting. Tutorial zone changed, no cap on levels in there now which is a huge surprise and even how the zone was made is a complete change. Rather interested to see what has happened to the story, though I doubt much. It seems questing is a bit more rewarding then it used to be, though you're still never going to get rare or epic items even in veteran zones...God forbid sh** might scale to you? I can't farm soul gems off public dungeon bosses anymore like I used to which is mind blowing too, no more mob blenders too. Imperial motif is upwards of 40k and bites for vampires and wolves are free - 10k. Dwemer was added and ripped up to pieces for whatever reason is completely beyond any understanding I can even try to come up with and why is costs upwards of 100k is unf***ing real. I guess some people are morons? Tempers reduced in prices which is nice, also in amounts...Which isn't. But then again I'm used to seeing people selling 5k+ Kuta, Alloy, etc. Leveling in the game still feels like a chore, I wish I had the ability to save before I make a choice so I can back track and see what one is better. Nice to see what has happened, not a fan of being attacked by guards I have no chance in hell to kill for taking crap from a drawer which never happened before. Players seem more eager to troll then to help, veterans hang out in the last areas of their faction because Coldharbour I guess lost it's appeal? I don't know what's going on and I don't really care.. I hate ESO+ it's awful and tacky. The game still needs a ton of revamping in it's so called "non pay-to-win store" too...

In that moment there is no happiness but an obsessiveness with interest. And it is with great pleasure I say I am not, nor ever desire to be happy, but take luxury and with sense of halcyon that I am interesting."

Mostly a great bunch of people. Zone chat has totally gone downhill since B2P but I largely ignore that.

The only ones who really annoy me are the ones who think they are smart by repeatedly putting their horse's ass in my face when I am holding a guild event or trying to film something. Either start dancing and join in or go do something else.

I have to say my experience with people in game has been largely positive. I have been a guild leader in more games than I care to admit and I can say that the quality of people in ESO is high.

I have hand no more than 2 encounters with total brain farts in ESO and I have played since BETA. It is one of the major reasons that I am still here.

Too many people don't know how to relax and just have stupid-fun sometimes.
Too many "GOGOGO" types. Too many "can't do that lower content gotta grind Crag/dungeon."

Makes finding the people who DO like to just have fun with the game (y'know, instead of making a job out of it), like finding nuggets of gold.
What I lack in gameplaying ability I make up for in smack talk.

Correction - Zone Chat has gone full circle back to Beta Days.. Just without the 'Im not paying $15 a month to play this! That's not fair' dotted in every second comment.

Generally over the last year though I've found players to be fairly good. Maybe a dozen I've really clicked with and regularly run with now and are all now in my guild anyway.

Even in PvP they still give me a chuckle..

Me : Gah!! <L26 Argonian Templar> Death Recap.. (5th Time in a row in Cracked Wood, Same Sorc)
VR14 : <whisper>Dude, just give up already..you aren't going to beat me. Go through the other cave. I'm not here to PvP anyway
Me : Doh! I'm only after the Shard anyway!
VR14 : Lulz, Why didn't you say so sooner?
Me: *facepalm* at wasted 30 mins..

When B2P came i had 43,000 mats of maple, iron, rawhide and jute! I made about 230 5 item sets green lvl 10-14 all with traning hundings rage, histbark and seducer. I was standing outside Vulkhel Guard wayshrine for 12 hours giving stuff away. It did cost quite a bit to enchant them all at 100g each, but well worth it.

I had a dozen people wisper me all kinds of hate for giving them away when they were trying to sell. People trying to gouge new players is not new but i did get mail from about 25 people with gold and a thanks days later. Lots of questions in zone chat get an awsner even if they are stupid. Overall very positive community out there in my opinion.

Wow! That's really amazing and welcoming!
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis
