Vanity Pet Animations

A couple of days ago, I had my new Banekin pet out when I started fighting some monsters. I noticed at the time that the pet jumped up and down a couple of times. My immediate thought was, "Hey, this is really cool! They've programmed my vanity pet to cheer me on while I'm in combat!" I announced this in zone chat and got similar responses from others. Since then, I've realized it's just a part of the Banekin's normal animation process, and I just hadn't noticed it until that time.

Now that the idea has come up though, I'd like for ZOS to put some thought into adding context-specific animations to the vanity pets. I have no idea what kind of additional workload that would add, or even if it's really feasible. But judging from my initial reaction, and by the responses I received from others, it would be a very well-received addition.

    I was watching two next to each other in a bank today. I was creeped out because they were moving in the exact same ways at the exact same moments.

    Looked like a choreographed banekin dance video.

    I do like the Senche Tiger roar at various times though. It's always at context-appropriate moments.

    That would be really cool I think, Having them all have there own special animations for combat, etc. However like @JoffyToffy69 said I wouldn't expect it soon.

    I would be happy if they would just make the dogs' running animation look better. What is up with that weird hopping?

    To go along with those, I'd like to see them make the jump animation for the Guar mounts a little more fluid. The drop seems to be a bit too abrupt.

    Yeah, like I said, I don't even know how much work would go into it, so it could be a major project requiring loads of time and resources. If so, ZOS may not even consider the idea worth doing. After all, they've got new content to push out, and honestly, as cool as this idea seems, if I have to choose between this and new content, I'll choose the new content any day.

    But, if it's not a really big project.... :D

    Imagine one player's dog barks at the cat of another, and the cat hisses at a Bantam Guar. But.. better not imagine what two panthers would do when they see each other ;)

    Imagine if your pets could get in a fight which then meant that the two owners could PVP over it! People love their pets, it wouldn't be the first time a fight broke out because your dog attacked my dog ;)

    Hehe, this would be awesome, too.. theoretically :) But I guess it's a bit of a mess when trying to walk through a city where so many players are walking their pets, I guess my computer couldn't handle this anymore (like in Cyrodiil)^^

    I got the banekin and had immediate buyer's remorse because it was bigger than I expected and I like smaller pets that are less intrusive. However, I was getting beat up by mobs in Craglorn as a v1 and it started jumping up and down like it was cheering and I was so amused, I decided to designate him as a pet for my new sorcerer (along with the other daedric petting zoo she's building up).

    I do think that they need to reduce the follow distance to maybe half what it is currently if not less. I don't like pets trailing so far behind, they should idle right next to the player and have a smaller follow distance while moving. I think they'd be less annoying in dungeons that way and also make owners happier to be able to not lose sight of them while playing.

    Secondly, why are they disabled in cyrodiil? I miss my critters when I'm there.

    I agree, it would be nice if the follow distance would be not too far. (Unlike NPC followers which are often so close that I keep clicking on them instead of looting something.)

    And for Cyrodiil, pets are not going invisible when the player does (when going in stealth, invisible to enemy players), I guess that was the reason they're disabled for Cyrodiil now, was not always like this.
