If you change the default install folder then you have to make sure you create an extra folder inside the folder where you will install. When changing the install location the installer will not create an 'eso' folder and will just install all files and some game folders within your game folder (where your wow and other games are located) after the eso installer is finished it will remove the files that are not required to play the game so which means any other folder aswel.

Many installers will remove extra files (that won't be needed for the program to run) that where created by the installer to install it, the problem with the eso launcher is that it doesn't create an 'eso' folder when you change install location.

I've had this problem aswel, I lost over 1TB of game installs ...
