65 GB download? The FCC is looking more and more prescient in raising the definition of broadband Internet service in the U.S. to 25 Mbps even though nearly half of the country couldn't get that level of service even if people were willing to pay the $50-$100 monthly fee.

If you already have that many games on your XB1 already, delete games you don't play anymore or shift them to an external drive like this one (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00V7RJCD6/) to make room for games you play more often.

True, but who will download a 65GB huge game just for try and limited to 4 days!

THIs is the real concern. It's unclear if it's the full game less a full license to activate or just the full game in a BETA client which will require a seperate 65gig download later

One and PS4 install all games now. I know with ps4 you can play after a short initial install the rest of the game will continue to install.

This is definatly the biggest console game ever. In my experiances my consoles going back to the xbox 360, ps3 and now ps4 always download slower then my PC does. Both have wired connections too. I definatly would not to be DLing 65GB. Sometimes on 360 downloading a 7 GB game was a big enough chore.

Anyways, I'll be playing ESO on PC still, will never play it on PS4.

Hahaha. The biggest game i have on Xbox 360 is around 5Gb.

With TESO and The Division I will reach around 200 Gb lol.

Sheesh. I'm not going to be participating but that is a lot.
It's brutal for someone like me who has fast(ish) but unreliable internet. PS4 loses connection for a minute and the download stops and has to be manually resumed. No way I would be able to complete it without having the day free to check back on it regularly.

I suspect that one of the reasons they're staggering the invites is because they don't want their network saturated at once with so many people downloading such a huge install. 65 GB ain't nothing to sneeze at, even in this age of broadband and cloud computing.

Makes me wish I were one of the lucky very, very few with a fiber connection.

Or maybe they are reading people who have a slow Internet connection like me and they are reducing the file size and don't put the full game into beta...

That's literally not possible with current technology of consoles. Frankly if it was, they'd probably just not invite people with slow internet.

It's not that bad for most within decent network coverage areas. I'm in central FL and have 150/10 from Bright House. Sure it's not a Google Fiber line, but it can damn sure download at about 19 MB/s. Not everyone has access to it, but there are plenty of people who have more than enough net speed to complete this download within a few hours.

I'd rather wait the remaining month and a half (very roughly, I didn't try to count the days) for the actual release, at once the game is out it would not be as much of a pain if it takes 1-2 days to install. Not planning on getting it unless friends intend to.

For space I could always remove that Destiny Alpha thing, took so long to download that I never actually tried it anyway.

Heh, they have a limited period and a short one at that for testing... Yet it requires a 50+gb download. I wonder how populated the servers will be? Maybe I can catch someone streaming from PSN. I'd like to see the final concept for controller schema and it's options.

are these posters new to mmorpg's?

is your pc install somehow magically smaller?

the real "problem" is console players expecting the console port of a pc game to look as good as the pc game, but somewhow expecting all of the files to magically be smaller?

Yes, it's 42 GB, hence the confusion and hence this thread. The console version is significantly larger, but obviously has much less texture files and the like as there are no graphics settings.

Weird when I go under manage game (Xbox one) it's 54gig. I wonder if it differs based on where your Xbox is set regionally

Still, 42 GB for the PC and 54 GB for XB1 just seems odd and backwards, considering the lack of graphical options/settings in the XB1 version.

I don't understand why it's bigger on console... Why are they not compressing files?

They can't send game in .zip files and the console extract them after download?

My guess is, they're putting more "Locked" Content in Consoles.
So their players wouldn't have to keep patching that often.

    65gb is not much.

Can you name a larger game besides Star Citizen?
Can you name a larger game on consoles?

Don't get me wrong, I like large games. Saying 65GB is "not much" though is just incorrect though. That's a very large game by any system's (or even PC) standards.

It's a lot but it's not that much more then other games. Destiny is probably like 50gb+.

Odd, I by no means have the fastest bandwidth out there, I have Comcast, however it is a tier or two above the standard. I started the download less than an hour ago, while I'm playing neverwinter and I'm already at 64%. I'm not positive, as I'm a computer science major, and don't know a ton about consoles, but I think it will speed up the download if you have more available space. I deleted 3 or 4 games I rarely play, and if I want to play them down the road its just a click away. With that said, I'm happy it's such a hefty download, leads me to believe it will be a beautifully large, graphical spectacle.

Its not that big and if you need more space for other games / run out just get a larger ssd drive for the ps4 or a external 3.0 usb drive for the xbox one. My wife actually got me a extra 1tb usb 3.0 external drive for my xbox for whenever I finally blow out my storage. As of now though im just deleting Neverwinter when this launches as I only need one mmo.

Also for those freaking out dragon age was nearly as big and was just fine too.

Same here. Tired of all the micro transactions. Feel like im playing an iPhone app when I get on it. Sure everything's free, but if you want anything even remotely useful, reach into your pocket. No thanks, Id rather support this game.

Even without downloading anything else, I have no chance of getting it before Tuesday on my home connection. I'm having to download it at public internet spots when I can, but it's still iffy.

That said, I fully agree that more than one day to download a 54 GB client for a 4 day beta is drastically needed. At the least let it roll throughout next week.

I only have access to a 3mb DSL line so I may or may not even get that large of a file finished in 4 days especially due to congestion around my area ( nearly unusable from 4 pm - 12 am ).
