Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

I have a really good feeling about console release.

I think the round of reviews for the console release are going to put this game on a whole new level. Even if I won't be on console it will be a good thing for pc too.

That is all.

The round of reviews will be the similar to the PC release. IF you think it isn't going to release with a bunch of stuff broken and people are going to overlook it then you haven't been paying attention. I expect to see a lot of issues with graphics and poor network performance as well and that will be reflected in negative reviews. They might be better than PC reviews were, but that bar is extremely low.
"it's important to state that our decision to go with subscriptions is not a referendum on online game revenue models. F2P, B2P, etc. are valid, proven business models - but subscription is the one that fits ESO the best, given our commitment to freedom of gameplay, quality and long-term content delivery. Plus, players will appreciate not having to worry about being "monetized" in the middle of playing the game, which is definitely a problem that is cropping up more and more in online gaming these days." - Matt Firor

We shall see. Defiance is a megaserver multiplat MMO and the consoles are the ones dragging it down due to xbox live and psn holding updates ransom and not clearing them for weeks/months at times. Not saying it'll happen here, but it's a fact that MMOs on consoles are lot more complicated than PC.
    Sometimes, I dream about...cheese...

Dermont - v16 Pompous Altmer Sorcerer (With a very arrogant face!)
Egonieser - v16 Nord Stamina Dragonborn Wannabe
Endoly - v16 Tiny Redguard Sharpened MaceBlade
Egosalina - v16 Breton Cheesus Beam Specialist
Egowen - v16 Dunmer Whipping Expert (Riding crops eluded her)
(Yes, I had to grind all these to v16)
Akamanakh - lvl 22 Khajiit GankBlade (Inspired by Top Cat)
Targos Icewind - lvl 34 Imperial (Future) Jabplar
    (CP 830+)

    PC - EU

I happen to think network performance and lag issues will be less of an issue on consoles.

Agreed, they will make a good income from console gamers with ESOTU. I just hope they will make good use of it and give us more contents, (I only played during beta but ive been following the game for a year while waiting for console release and it has very little to offer compared to other MMOs) has grinding isn't content IMHO.

I just hope they treat consoles and pc gamers equally and release content on both system at the same time and not based on which gives more incomes. At the same time i hope we won't get dalayed contents because they have to deal with 3 systems built differently.

I'm opportunistic also. The team that made ESO and the team at Quake Con 2014 are AMAZING. We just need to let them do what they do best!
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

I'm still worried worried that they won't make the release date again. It's only six or seven weeks away and still no word on the beta (and Sony and MS still aren't even acknowledging it even exists).

I do think the that it will benefit from the huge press that the Bethesda press conference before E3 will get. The focus of that conference will no doubt be Fallout 4, but you can bet that the console release ESO will get plenty of love too at it too (it's certainly no coincidence that the console release is happening the same week as that press conference). And I'm sure they'll be hyping ESO on consoles at E3 this time too. That should get them some nice press coverage if they can make the date this time out.

The best thing about the pending console release is that ZOS will have one less excuse for not releasing new content. I wouldn't put it past them to come up with a new excuse, though.

Or two new ones... We are having problems getting the (imaginary content here) correct on the Xbox, PS. So we have delays it until all three platforms can get them at the same time...

I wonder if people would generally want that, or would want things to be released when they're ready for each one. It sounds like you'd want the latter, but imagine the platform you're playing on doesn't have the new thing for months while the other platform does. That would kind of suck too.

Can you elaborate why you think it's a good thing for PC? Are you saying people will try on console and then want to buy it for the PC as well? I hope that's the case.

I would really love if the servers were integrated so we could all play together regardless of PC/Console.

FFXIV:RR release content on PS3, PS4 and PC at the same time but all three are using the same server. ZOS won't have to deal with PS3, pretty sure its easier to develelop on PS4 and Xbone without delay as the architectures on those systems are very similar to PCs.

Na, content will go to PC first me thinks. Why? It appeases sense of superiority of PC gamers and allows ZOS to get kinks worked out before it moves to their main market.

I think the idea is that if ZOS does well with console sales then the overall health of the company improves and they have more incentive to release DLC and continue to support the game as a whole.

I can confirm this is not limited to MMOs. Our society as a whole is becoming this way, and it's not just limited to kids.
Don't forget we also have the age of the rich and ignorant as well, who claim every single complaint is entitlement. It's very important to have a balance of acceptance and frustrations being vented so the they (not just ZOS but all companies in general) know what part of their product(s) people are satisfied with and what needs worked on.

I, for one, enjoy the game greatly. I came back for the promotional weekend and bought the game and will likely do so again when it comes out on console. I should have waited a bit longer and just got the console version but I'm sure they will have a lot of issues to work out at launch. I do, however, also think the current subscription model needs adjusting. The price point is acceptable (could be better) but I'm not big into micro-transactions and will not be purchasing much (if anything) from the crown shop. The 10% bonus and access to non-existent DLC is not worth it to me.

ESO takes place during an era when the oceans of Tamriel were especially heavily infested with slaughterfish and all the lakes, streams, and rivers were so crazy salty that it was impossible not to just float on the surface.

Unless the console version releases with all the bug and balance fixes that SHOULD be in the PC version right now, it's going to get poor reviews.

I don't think people will try console and then buy on the PC necessarily, but I do think that many reviewers will conclude the the game has come a long way and that it is worth buying for console for those that have been holding out.

I think that console gamers will help move the game in a positive direction by encouraging ZOS to continue developing content.

I think ESO will have a more favorable spot on the list of games being streamed on twitch which will help expose the game to many people, both console and PC players alike.

Overall, I think the release on console will improve the overall view of ESO in the gaming community since there are many people that base their opinion on the initial reviews and don't have a gaming computer.

I personally don't think that console release is going to push PC any further than the other platforms in terms of content or playability, if anything they will have equal footing.

Console release will "let the doors to oblivion be flung wide" as it were.
