Subscription Model Needs To Be Adjusted

Talrune
Talrune
Who here thinks that it does? right now the perks are pretty much worthless and the credits yeah ok but once ya get your mount and a pet credits are pointless at this point. Yes the store is new but all the more reason to opej it with a bang not a small thud.

This company should never had made an MMO and just stuck with what worked for them i feel. The game with the LACK of content is just underwhelming at this point.

The ESO live streams need new hosts the format so far is boring and well the people there seems annoyed that they are (and proly were told they had to do it) and a bit arrogant if you ask me.

Game needs some major obverhaul besides the B2P model.

1. More content
2. More visability on the forums
3. Store needs to have way more items and should have from the start.
4. ESO Live Streams Need New Hosts And A New Format.

Subbing is pretty much a contract with them to buy said amount of coins.

    The bonuses are crap

    4. ESO Live Streams Need New Hosts And A New Format.

    1. Not going to happen. Game was promised with new content every 6-8 weeks. The only "new" content we've gotten was Craglorn which was supposed to be in at launch and got delayed. Dark Brotherhood and Theives Guild were promised by 1.3 but obviously got scrapped. Justice was promised with PvP which got scrapped. Imperial City and Osirim were shown at Quake Con early last year, and supposed to be released in 2014.. but are no where to be seen. Now we are getting told the "earliest" we'll see new content is several months after console release in June.

    2. LOL... I don't blame them for hiding. After lying to us about not being able to use the in-game mail system to advertise the new senche instead of using the system alert (big yellow letters) system..then getting called out on it they are probably fleeing the country at this point.

    3. Yep, the store sucks. And despite a 100+ page thread of suggestions from players about what they'd like to see in the crown store, NONE of the suggestions have been implemented. They seem pretty set on selling us mounts and costumes, and the rest is available in-game.

    4. Agree.

Bonus: And the 10% XP and Gold bonus from subbing isn't even worth it. Basically you are flushing $15/month down the toilet.

And do not get me wrong I enjoy what they made here, but there needs to be more and not "soon(tm)" but needs to be now. They have had a year and they keep back peddling.

I'm confused as to how your post title seems to have almost nothing to do with the majority of your post.

The edit button is beside the post title.

Anyways, as a subscriber, you are essentially paying for a 1500 crown pack. It's the same price, the rest are extra's. I use multiple mounts and pets, so your concern for only need 1 pet/mount doesn't apply to me. You can even purchase mounts using in game gold, and there is a quest where you receive a pet. If you don't see anything in there you want now, maybe something will come in the future. I know quite a few people who are happy the respect scrolls came in. This is something that can be more than a one time buy, therefore a reason to keep using your crowns. Maybe there isn't much in the store right now, but they have shown they are continuously adding to it.

I do not agree with your points on ESO live. Personally I enjoy the show as it gives insight into some things, allows us to find answers to questions we have, know what they are (or aren't) working on and more. Did you see the most recent one? Hah. Definitely didn't seem uptight, annoyed, or arrogant to me.

Pretty much is sounds to me like the store doesn't have anything you want.. yet. What would YOU like to see in the store then?

There are two ways how you can handle a F2P game.

    1. Put everything into the sub and forget about offering your customers a fair alternative to paying to win. (SWTOR, "GW2", Archage)
    2. Put everything into the F2P model and only give a bonus to the subscribers. (ESO, WOW, WS)

Personally I hate being treated like crap as a non subscriber and would never touch games that ask me for money if I want to enter a dungeon or pvp zone, that ask me for money if I want to ride a mount or create an additional char, use more bank slots... These p2w games are a big fraud, but as long people bow down to the companies making them, nothing will ever change.

ESO for me is great. Even if I don't pay money, I have access to 16 char slots, all bank or mount upgrades, all the dyes and zones or races & classes, it really is a F2P game and doesn't pretend to be one like many others.

As much I understand that a subscriber wants more, this game is F2P now and this is where the focus must be. You gain several benefits with a sub and if you want more, then ESO might be the wrong game for you. As a sub, you shouldn't be superior to those without, it will only create a toxic community where those not paying are facing huge disadvantages and quit.

Right now a sub gets crowns and will never ever have to buy a DLC, Costume or mount for real money. Its all covered in your sub and I think this is the benefit ZOS is going for.

Not just more content but DIFFERENT content. Don't get me wrong I love a quest as much as the next person, but with silver and gold I already feel like there's enough "bash stuff with sticks" at the moment. We need more variety, not just killing mobs.

Justice was a step in the right direction, but here are some more:
    • Housing - of course
    • Player run towns - as in having to build them from the ground up. Maybe instance them if you have to. Players must build their defences, the shops and markets, and any facilities in the towns. Towns have a democracy system, voting for the 'Mayor' who sets taxes etc and decides how much money goes on the aforementioned defences and facilities to maintain them. Must also defend the towns, either against mobs or against players, whichever would work.
    • Fishing - add in a fishing tournament, the chance to win loot etc from fishing.
    • More hobbies, maybe a music system? Arts and crafts?
    • Sailing - Piracy! Some PVP of a different vein and a bit more open world (open sea)
    Allow cross-platform transfers and merges

This would be great, like at SWG once :)

Actually, there's a third option, and it's what LoTRO did originally.

Lock all content beyond starter zones behind either a sub or pay gates. Let people enter the zones, but can't do quests.

This lets you buy the game zone-by-zone... or pay a sub.

Unfortunately, LoTRO moved past that idea and started making the cash shop P2W. Really bad.. but I guess at some point greed overrides providing value to customers.

I let my sub lapse over the 10% bonuses. Yes, they're small but it's just the wrong kind of sub benefit IMHO. Subs should get exclusive things that make their characters better established in the world like player housing, added bank-space, perhaps the ability to invest in local shops, preferment in alliance ranks. IMHO that would make sense. Let the non-subscribers be the "wandering knight".
Please stop making requests for game features. ZOS have enough bad ideas as it is!

More content will keep people around and generate more money than crown store. Who cares about buying cosmetics if there is nothing to do with them besides stand around in town. At least with new content, we can actually play with the stuff we bought in crown store, and more importantly, have something to do and a reason to keep subbing. Less focus on cosmetic sales, and more on actual content to play please so the subscription DLC pass actually means something.
