Is Reg. Clothing (non-Armor) Avail at Shops or Only Stealable? If the Latter, Why?

Hi all,

Subject says it all.

I wish normal, non-armor clothing items were "a thing" in the game, available at stores. Apologies if they are. One of the most fun things for me would be seeing shops in general load different things than other shops, and having normal clothing stores.

Thanks.

Individual pieces of clothing can only be stolen. Gives more incentive to use the thieving system I suppose.

Costumes that cover your character without effecting your armor can be gained a number of ways.

I don't believe so, as far as I know the individual clothing items that can be put in armor slots were totally new with 1.6 and the justice system. It would be nice though, so rather than stealing a whole bunch of items to find something JUST right the occasion, you could just go browse a shop :) As well.. that way people who do not want to steal could get some at a decent price. I would definitely put this in game as a /feedback and look forward to seeing other's opinions.

It would be nice to be able to buy the clothes in an in-game store.

Fortunately, there are so many containers in the game that are ultra easy to steal from, that getting a clothing collection does not take all that long. Well, maybe for all 7 pieces it can. I have found some places that are entirely empty but filled with owned containers so you can steal without consequence.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

The reason that the clothes even exist is someone made a mock-up while they were designing the Justice system and the itemization team made so many cool pieces of clothing, and they were so popular, that they decided to keep them in as loot. It wasn't planned.

And it shows the talent of the creators of this game when the middle management isn't messing things up.

Only stealable. They didn't even exist before the justice system was added. It's like they unlocked the NPC attire sets, and I'm not entirely sure it was intended. What ever the reason, there it is. They can't be listed in the guild store because they don't have armor item data for the filters, but you can trade them player to player. You'll need to ask in zone chat for people selling.

So the best feature was a goof. Those designers should be let FREE!

Boots and pants are pretty common to find, can't get more than 100 for them. But I had someone offer me 10,000 on the spot for a sleeveless wrap shirt.

I too wish those would show up in stores. And end up being craftable by our PC clothiers... I love these kinds of clothes for roleplaying reasons, and also hope they will add many, many more styles then the game has now in due time...

Would be a bit unfair to sell them in NPC stores now when some people have spent a lot of time searching for all pieces.

It was my plan to have one of my mules as kind of a merchant for stolen clothes. I had about 130 items already (27 different types). Unfortunately, there is no real market for these items on the EU server in zone chat. Most people want to know what the clothes look like on their character before they buy them and aren't willing to spent even a few hundred gold for individual items (always keep in mind that VR 14 chars can easily make 300 gold per minute just playing the game). It was hard enough for me to find a few people who would take the clothes for free (I only kept 2 of each type and gave all others away to people who replied in guild and zone chat)!

If it were possible to sell these clothes via guild store I'm pretty sure you could easily find all of them in guild stores and the people who took the time to search for them could still earn some gold (prices would very likely be very low though, maybe 100-1500 gold depending on rarity; chest pieces are rarer because there's more types than for feet, hand, and legs).

So, in my opinion, that would be the better solution. Give those stolen clothes an item category and allow players to sell them in the guild stores. There were several threads asking for that change/reporting the problem that you can't sell them in guild stores already:

    For example these three:

Agree with above two posts. Excellent ideas. My templar would love to be able to purchase clothes from the guild stores as she doesn't steal.

There are instances of things that early access players had access to that current ones don't and vice versa. Everyone can get everything currently available at the time they play, so we need to only worry about that, about making the game a better game.

Regular clothing that you see npcs wearing should be available in shops for the simple reasons that it 1) makes a lot of sense, 2) helps RPers have fun, and 3) doesn't give any bonuses or create any imbalance between what different players can access.

It doesn't need tied in with Crown Store or any of that, or guild stores. It just needs to be treated like Apples and armor items, normal stuff in normal shops.

I have a few items... Some look pretty cool, but not a style I want to use. I wish there were a proper auction house, I'd hate to trash something an RPG'r would love.

Maybe there would be a way to make them practical in combat? Obviously no armor value, but perhaps they could confer a stronger enchant (if enchantable)?

I really like these items from a roleplaying perspective, though wish that they were equipped as disguises instead. It would probably be easy to make this switch given their lack of stats anyhow.
