Experience gain limit

A weird thing has been happening to my gf and me. Over this weekend, we leveled about quite a bit, she 40-47 and me 36-46. We leveled exclusively by two manning nearly all dungeons. For the first few runs, our experience gain was awesome(about 1 level per full dungeon) but then we noticed our experience gain dropped to almost nothing after a while. We first noticed this on Sunday, we did 5 dungeons and I got 5, and she 3-4 levels. After that, exp gain was almost nothing. We'd do a whole dungeon and get around 3-5% of a level. But, we didn't pay attention to it, went to bed and played again Sunday. Same story, got 3-4 levels with exp gain of 1 level per full dungeon, and then it drops to almost nothing per dungeon. After she went to bed, and a few hours after we last did a dungeon, I soloed Fungal Grotto on lvl 44, and got from 44 and 30% to 45 and 20%. After that, I stopped getting exp almost completely, I did half of Direfrost Keep lvl 45 and got around 2% of a level. Today, we did 1 dungeon run again, and same thing. We both got nearly full level from it, and then went on to do Blessed Crucible, our level. We got about 3% from around 80% of the dungeon.

It seems like there's some sort of a limit on experience, after you get a certain amount of exp in a certain period, your exp gain drops to something around 1/10th of what you normally get. I checked online a bit and can't find a mention of this mechanic anywhere.

Is anyone familiar with this and can shed some light on how it works, like what are the time periods and how much exp you can get before the limits turn on?

Except for PvP, there are no diminishing returns on repeatedly killing monsters (recently killed players give less XP than ones that have been alive). In dungeons, you only get the XP for quest completion once, so maybe that explains it? Also, killing mobs more than 5 levels below you (or 4 if you are vet level) gives less experience.

You get no XP from mobs more than 5 levels below you.
You may also get no XP if you're grouped with players more than 5 levels above you and don't do sufficient damage.
    Wololo.

    Neither of those explains it.

We didn't do the quest in most dungeons(we did it before already) and we ran some dungeons multiple times. They still gave same exp.

The mobs were the same level as me as dungeons scale with your level.

I was grouped with my gf who was 4 levels higher than me at first but I caught up and now I'm 46 and she's 47. It's still happening.

This literally looks like there's a limit on exp. It's not like we get slightly less exp(diminishing returns) but more like once we get a certain amount we just hit an exp ceiling and all exp we get is reduced by 90%.

This was even happening in the middle of the dungeon. We'd get ~50% of a level on 1st half and then about 1-2% of a level on second half of a dungeon.

Also, this happened when we were together and when I was solo. The identical effect occurred.

Which dungeon? And have you actually been looking at your per-enemy XP numbers for each kill to see what the difference is?

Dungeons, in general, aren't a great leveling tool. And I've never encountered one that would grant you anywhere near 50% of a level at any stage in the game. So I'm very curious about where this is happening.

Dont know what may be,but I can confirm, playing since launch, that a mechanic as you explain do not exist in the game.
