Any class/race is survivable naked at level 25 as long as you have a half-decent weapon and with only a few skills open to you the choice is largely dictated.

Yes, a brand new player will likely have problems due to their still learning the mechanics, and those players are the last ones who should be looking for 'advice' from others, for their own enjoyment long-term they should be working things out for themselves by researching/experimenting with their own character(s).

My DK wasnt very survivable. I remember dropping like crazy on the first manemarco fight. Then I do it on my templar first try.

Key to DK is leveling Draconic Power ASAP to get Dragon's blood, then it's easy mode

I have both a VR Templar and a Templar that just reached level 30. Up until around level 25, a templar is quite a capable character.

After that, however, the DPS put out by various skills does not appear to increase at the same rate as mobs' hitpoints do and a Templar becomes less viable. You have to become a very capable player using dodging (avoidance of attacks) and blocking to supplement your skills; you can't heal through the damage you're going to receive; you're going to exhaust your magicka too quickly. You will start having trouble with bosses... you'd best learn to circle-strafe so you can beat the AI.

And you'll get your butt handed to you in PvP.

Contrast that with a DK tanking build. My "senior" DK (veteran rank) was soloing triple-diamond zone bosses in Coldharbour before hitting level 50. It could easily mitigate all damage received.

Balance is not something the game has achieved yet...

...but we do have a lot of YouTube vids.

ive got all 4 classes in vet mode. templar and DK both v14 and sorc and NB both v9...

the templar is by far , no question the gimpiest of all 4. shame cos he was my main for a while till i realised how broken they are.. you end up dropping almost all templar skills and just using weapon and guild stuff to function ,, but then you know even doing that your worse than other classes cos they have better class skills to mix with them ..

still at lvl 25 , i remember my templar feeling great......

My Templar Mage is v14 and still feels great :) using only templar skills, can get more damage than my other 2 vets! Its all in item sets and dark flare with radiant destruction. Templars are the best, obviously ;)

i see you have a v12 sorc.. i'm gonna say if you cant out dps your temp using yuor sorc your doing something drastically wrong.

and perhaps its due to how much spell damage you stacked on the templar mage cos hes at v14...

plus if you take a templar mage into pvp your a free AP dispenser.. magika templars are a joke in pvp . one wrecking blow and your dead.. cos unlike sorcs you dont have a lovely big shield scaling off magika and bolt escape

but dont take my word for it, look at the leader boards for which classes are in the top 20 and see how many of them are templars.

Its interesting that you guys are dissing templars so much. I litterally just took out a lv 32 group boss by myself as a lv 26.. Bet you couldnt do THAT with your sorc. Endgame is one thing, but templars are the best for solo leveling for sure.

I think you can, a lot of the skills in the templar trees are worthless... I see too many people using the wrong skills. Not that its a BIG deal but still just trying to get people on the right track ya know.
