Arrows: Make them an item?

I'd rather have special quivers to equip, with an unlimited supply of arrows like now, but with special properties.

I never played WoW, but I didn't mind the way it was in Skyrim personally. It would definately be different in ESO though.
Skyrim only has to worry about one player. ESO has to balance 6 weapons against each other which is hard enough without the addition of consumable ammo. I can burn through the charges on a weapon enchantment in less than an hour of mob grinding. A stack of 200 arrows could be blown through just as fast, even with recovery unless other players are prevented from looting your arrows.

Bows would also be too expensive and too risky to use for a sub 15 because you can't swap in combat should you run out of arrows before then.

You had to account for arrows in DDO, and it made bow/crossbow combat more exciting, I'm totally down for this!

An atrocity of an idea for a few reasons but I'll recount the primary two that come to my mind. 1st, archers do plenty of damage without giving them even more ways to smoke people instantly. 2nd, nobody else has to count anything so it wouldn't be very fair for archers to have to count their arrows. For it to be even remotely ok, the arrows would have to be worth next to nothing and be able to stack in the thousands for them to be viable in most situations such as dungeons and PVP. It's super fun in a single player game like Skyrim to collect awesome arrows etc but in an MMO it's just poor form in my opinion.

    Maybe.
If you limit arrows, you have to do something similar on the other weapons. A sword that gets dull and makes less damage maybe?

Yes, because I don't use bows and I want archers to suffer!
Just kidding, it would add immersion, and if they could do it in a stable way then sure, but this is ZoS.
So yes in theory, and no in practice.

    Yes.
Yes if the arrows are unlimited.

    No if they are limited.

Although having limited arrows adds to the immersion and creates more of a challenge for players, it's ultimately something that would just cause frustration for a vast majority of players.

I vote yes, but don't want an arrow limit, just different type of arrows that you slot next to the bow; for example, if would be cool to be able to use negative potions on an arrow to defined that arrow's type and maybe enchantments. It would also be cool to be able to craft arrows of different types like way armor is crafted in the game:

Light arrows - extreme range, fast, but gives light damage.
Medium arrows - a balance between light and heavy arrows.
Heavy arrows - short range, slow, but gives heavy damage.

But, I don't want a limit on the number of arrows! PERIOD!

I love both of these ideas. I'm more keen to the idea of having an arrow slot or quiver slot that enables the player to have unique arrow types. Things like poison arrows, flaming arrows, someone mentioned arrows to mark an area (I could see this being extremely useful to some players). If we were to see something like this there would need to be something to cancel any bow enchantment while using a unique arrow, because I can totally see people raging about stacking effects.

But when it comes down to it. Don't limit arrows.

It's an interesting idea, but I can really see it becoming a problem for players. Out of arrows? No more PVPing for you until you get more! Wasn't sure of how much you'd need for this dungeon? Welp, looks like you're screwed and can't finish it. There would also be an issue of inventory space. Good idea though. Maybe craftable specialty ammo?

I fletched arrows years ago been there done that don't want to do it again, and why just arrows lets have the sword swinger have to sharpen their blades, lets have the staff wielder have to replace the power crystals lets get everyone in the action as we step back to 1999 gaming again.. :) I don't think the instant gratification gamer of today would find it fun for very long the novelty would wear of fast for a lot of people I think.

The only time I want to count ammunition is when I'm actually gaming and not just playing a video game. If this were D&D I'd be all for it, but this is a video game, hardly worth adding that extra component when it will add cost and handicap to players.

Glyphs kind of do this now. Change out the Fire Glyph for Disease Glyph for instance. Not as easy as changing quivers, and you have to make a new glyph to change. Might be easier to make two bows and switch those out as needed.

Crafting a second bow type with a new enchantment would use the same amount of inventory -1 to having unlimited quivers to equip, and not require overwriting the enchantment evertime you wanted to switch up. Two bows is definitely the way to go, which means just keeping the current system.

They should make a quiver slot for the purposes of giving an extra item that can be a set item to make it like dual wield and 1h+s. Similarly, they could make up something else for staves and 2h.
