Thoughts on if the console version will support m/kb?

I know FF14 has both controller and m/kb support do you think that ESO will do the same?

On a tablet so not going to find source, but I know they have stated there will be keyboard support.

I always assumed this mreant it would also support mouse

    [EDIT]https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/26768/kw/keyboard support console

They do only really mention it in terms of chat though. I'll keep digging but hopefully someone comes to clarify

I hope they include K/M support. For no other reason than maybe the console users might come to understand and appreciate just how awesome a game can be, played with a keyboard.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

The answer is no to mouse
Both the Xbox one and ps4 support keyboards BUT based on responses MY hope is that there is absolutely no keyboard use based on the console UI.

Think of Destiny, BF4, compared to Neverwinter on Xbox One

While some may desire keyboard functionality...it exists on PC so that's a waste of development at this point.

There are logic and interests around using zone chat BuT if voice chat is done right....it won't be needed unless you're handicap and can't speak

I play most games with a controller and I find a keyboard annoying to use. I find the gradation of a modern analog controller much preferable and natural than any old-school digital keys. And I don't have to hit 3 different key combos to run/vs. slow walk/vs. fast walk.

Different keystrokes for different folks, though.

I apologize, I'm tired, were you suggesting there is the no mouse support or stating that there is no mouse support for ESO on the new consoles because the PS4 has a m/kb page on there knowledge centre website. m/kb work on DC Universe, FF14 and War Thunder and can switch between controller or m/kb anytime. I think WarFrame supports m/kb too.

I think ESO fits more in line with DC Universe and FF14 and those games both support m/kb. I'm a little unsure why you may think keyboard support would be a waste of development time when those games thought it was important enough to add it.

My post was tongue in cheek. I personally don't care what people use to play a game as long as they play. I just won't pretend to understand why someone would prefer a controller for most games.... B)

Everyone would assume my character was completely hammered if they saw me attempting to walk and look around at the same time with a controller.. No bash on controller folks, I just personally can't do it. I'm going to try though.. come on June 9th!

It would appear not if you see me on any game where I need to walk and look with the joysticks.. haha. My thumbs prefer to work in unison I do believe.. lol

Based on feedback from ZOS a mouse will not be supported.
Based on the redesign of the UI for consoles, the whole purpose was to eliminate the need of a mouse and keyboard.
Based on voice chat functionality on console, communication will be primarily voice.

    Both systems support USB keyboards
There is no benefit for ZOS to redesign a game and the UI to support mouse and keyboard on console and delay the game 12 months.

I'm not saying it won't or that I think it will not support a keyboard for text entry but I'm 99% sure a mouse and keyboard will not be supported for gameplay and a keyboard if used will only function for text entry Only.

The main purpose of having the game on console and on different servers is so that those who do not like mouse and keyboard gameplay can experience the game.

If the console version requires a keyboard to communicate...or if it eve uses zone chat...they may as well have released it as is 12 months ago

I do not want to see the walls of text which is why I'm excited to port over to console.

Mouse & Keyboard would give console players who choose to stick to a controller an unfair disadvantage. For that reason, I don't think they should implement them for consoles.

Be careful what you wish for. Neverwinter on Xbox is a ghosttown in a crowded place. Tons of players wondering around, but maybe you'll see someone type anything once every 3 hours in the main city.

I understand your view, sometimes it can get overwhelming, but Neverwinter Xbox proved that too little communcation in large zones is just..... so lonely feeling.

As a whole though: I hope that neither console verions allow KB and Mouse support for gameplay/UI naviagtion. Stick to gamepad only for that, please.

It's neither an advantage or disadvantage as ppl are proficient with either...it would be very poor decision making to allow keyboards and mouse support on console unless it's sold with the game box.

Wow that sucks and a bit depressing, No one here thinks that it will have m/kb support when other (PS4) games have supported it in the past. I don't think it would give console players a disadvantage because those other games have done it and there are no issues with people complaining about having a handicap even in the PvP parts of those games. The PS4 supports a m/kb as it states in the FAQs knowledge center. Link https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5087/~/use-keyboard-and-mouse-with-ps4. I don't know about the X1 though as I don't own one yet, I think you have to get some kind of adapter though.

Personally, I would like to see everyone using the input device they are the most proficient for all versions of the game. It just sucks that my friends will be divided because of choice and will stick with the console version of FF14 because of m/kb support.

The console beta is coming up and then everything will be revealed
